I'm from around Stuttgart Arkansas and daddy says the bayous are as high as he's ever seen them in the fall. I'm livin' in northeast TX right now and I think we're getting everyhting yall are getting. I haven't been able to hunt in a week.

rain

Guys it has to hurry up and quit. The white river refuge is fixing to open. This water will probably mess my plans for the south unit and I really need it for my pups. This is serious crops are being lost I know its not just here in Arkansas.

I would really like to see some pics of sherry bay, white river, and there is another refuge right around the corner from sherry bay. With how much rain you all are gettin I would hate to even think about comein for a hunt down there now.

If someone could post some pics I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
Luke Hauf

yes, we are about 5in away from reaching an all time record going back to the 1890's.

Posted by Preston Owens on 10-31-2009 08:29 PM:

I hope not

I will post as much info as I can get on the White River refuge. I have a friend that is a game warden over there and he should know. It really will depend on the rain we get in November.

Thanks John. It was fun and hard all at the same time. And a dream come true. I enjoyed the traveling/ hunting and meeting new people so much I am prob going to run another race in PKC this year.
That link was the White River graph, I guess I messed it up.

bad to worse

I have several hundred acres of river bottoms that have been flooded for over a month, and the water is finally receeding (probably has about 4 or 5 more feet to drop), but yesterday evening I rode my 4-wheeler down there and could just about cry. The tornado that came thru here on oct. 29th combined with all the water left me speechless. It literally looks like a war zone. I couldn't get very far or see very far either, but when you look up for treetops and only see 20 or so when you are used to hundreds it kind of stops you in your tracks. Here is a video of some of the damage around East Camden, I will get some pics of my land up this weekend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlzM0c9ENEE
