If you had technical difficulties, that is beyond our control, but the good news is that the episode will be on again on Friday evening, then again on Sunday.....YOU HAVE TWO MORE CHANCES!

Next...

The show is ONLY available on ICTV (Incountrytelevision) on channel 230 on DISH network. Providing we have sponsorship for the next quarter, we will be airing on both DISH and Direct starting in January. Understand that this is depends on SPONSORSHIP, so if you enjoy the show....contact our sponsors and let them know you saw them on Tailgate adventures.

Last...

Please understand that the comments made about "coon hunters" were made by the contestants in the squirrel hunt, and not by any member of the Tailgate Adventures team.... We are here to tell a story with each episode. The good sportsmanship demonstrated during this episode is a GOOD example. Let's face it..hound hunters are some pretty opinionated folks, and they are not afraid to share their opinions with anyone who will listen.

While we may or may not "agree" with an opinion, it is certainly worth listening to and recognizing that the opinion is out there and is being expressed.

I can't speak to how these two hunters came to form that opinion, be it first hand experience, or by "word of mouth"...shoot, who knows...they may have read a dozen or so of the "I GOT CHEATED LAST NIGHT" posts that show up on this message board every Saturday and Sunday without fail.

We will continue to bring you some fine hound and tree dog action in the following weeks.

Might want to watch it again. The hunter started the comment the host finished it with saying coonhunts, and that they were more cut throat. That was the host saying that, I just watched it again.

I thought it was a good show. Something besides deer and turkey hunting. I like all hunting shows, but the outdoor channel will have like 5 deer hunting shows in a row. Keep up the good work.

First of all, the opinions implied or conveyed on the show are not necessarily those held by the show itself, Tailgate Adventures LLC or it's sponsors.

With that said, we have no intention of censoring anyone's opinions unless they are too obscene or vulgar for National Television. The fact is that opinions are as much of this sport as anything, and that which drives us. If we are to achieve the goal of this show in promoting and growing our sport, we need to understand the differing opinions and stereotypes, so that we can address the negative ones head on.

And yes, as the host, I may sometimes finish someones sentence or repeat what was said earlier in the hunt, to offer clarification, but that does not mean that I hold or share that opinion. I personally am a coon hunter and a competition hunter and hold many others like me in high regard.

Now, with regards to the show being boring... I'm sorry that some may have that opinion, but I respect it nonetheless. But I do have some points I would like to share:

1. Our intent in any of the episodes is not to re-educate the masses or convey that we know it all, but we do want to inform those that are not familiar with the many facets of the hound and tree dog sport. And we hope to be entertaining along the way.

2. We do hope to gain new followers and participants to the sport, young and old, and to do that we need to explain what we're up to and why. Not a deer or turkey episode goes by without someone explaining where they're hunting and why or why they're using a particular call, etc.

3. We will do our best to film dog and sportsmen/women action... people talking, dogs trailing and treeing, and hopefully plenty of game. But we can't make that exciting, if people don't find it exciting.

4. I personally just love to hear the dogs tracking and trailing, and in a half hour show, could fill it with a shot of a cornfield or woods, with just us listening to the dogs, but that would not satisfy most. So we attempt to mix it up.

5. At the same time, we have no intentions of making a "rock video" of just dogs on a tree. That would also not satisfy most.

Folks... keep the opinions and feedback coming. We're learning a lot along the way!

Don't get me wrong I enjoy the show. However as you stated there are many people out there that are watching it that have never hunted like we do. With that said I think saying coonhunts are cut throat, is not doing us any good.

I have already made my statement about the sportsmanship in the various competition events. I attend all kinds of competition hunts. I think some folks are trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. These guys are obviously working their butts off trying to put a good show for us to watch and some guys are getting worried over an insignificant comment.

Have any of the guys complaining ever been to a competition squirrel hunt or ever been hunting with a good squirrel dog? I doubt it. Enjoy the show and quit trying to find something wrong with it. Enjoy what you are doing or better yet, carry a camcorder on your next hunt. You can easily post it on the internet for someone to find fault with your video.

I like watching tree dogs on TV. Keep up the good work.

Lakeland are you trying to get on the show or something, just because we offer up a different oppinion than yours doesnt mean we are complaining

Posted by deschmidt27 on 10-11-2009 02:49 AM:

Cutthroat - "characterized by each player playing independently rather than having a permanent partner", as defined by Merriam Webster.

This does not necessarily mean unsportsmanlike, and certainly does not mean dishonest or cheating in nature.

And again, I was paraphrasing a criticism I was hearing another hunter state. I was not bashing competition coon hunters, as I myself am one.

Posted by Lakeland Kennel on 10-11-2009 01:28 PM:

Plottpower, no I am not trying to get on their show. But, I am an avid videographer, I have been carrying camcorders to the woods for around 25 years. I have many video clips posted on the internet. I am currently spending a lot of my spare time converting my old VHS video to DVDs and computer files.

Here is a clip I posted this Spring of a young female I own treeing a coon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK1LqpkKnpU

I can post clips of her sire and dam, both grand sires and 1 grand dam, and go back other generations behind them.

I have an appreciation for what these guys are doing. I believe there will be many coon, squirrel, and rabbit hunters that carry camcorders to the woods and brush in the future. Camcorders are cheap these days, all hook into computers, and anyone that can post a picture on the internet, can post a video clip on the internet. I am proud to say when I sell a pup, I can give video clips of their sire and dam and up to 6 generations back on both sides treeing coon. That gives me an edge, most folks can't tell you what the grand parents of their pups sounded like on a tree, they just go on some title.

Yeah, I am jacked up on these guys work. It is great. Let's see more of it.

All I have seen so far is the squirel hunting one but I want more coonhunting. I thought it was great.
I called F&T and ordered a catalog and told the guy I loved it.

Any english dogs coming up on the show or the world hunts?

Thanks for the feedback...English dogs make appearances in several episodes.

The young female in my video clip is English. I usually keep redticks but I kept a blue English with Angel.

It will be nice to see and hear some English on TV.

Will there be a way I can see the first show that I missed.

By the way I am a coon hunter and was not offened by no comment that was made on the show.

I would like you guys to show how our sport does not hurt the deer hunters.

Im a firm believer in the show its just when your host comes i put it on mute. Thats just my thought. I mean lets face it the first episode was not exciting at all, its hard to make coon hunting on tv exciting, i thought the squirrel hunt was more action packed, im really waiting on some bear, coyote, hog, and deer hunts with hounds thats when it should be more exciting, but as far as making a coon hunt more exciting i honestly dont know how i would do it. Let me express again im not trying to make anyone mad or put down the show i thought i would offer an opinion other than "i love the show"

thanks
matt wohlford

I agree with your point, BUT I think it is directed to be basic for the people out there that know nothing of our dogs. I think they are doing a great job and cant wait to see the next show. I have more fun in the woods with my dogs, but I think it is grand that we are getting air time to show others. I think it is a big plus for hound sports. Guy

Its a good thing I have a DVD recorder because, their at bad times. Friday nights I am heading to a hunt, last wednesday it was suppose to be on and it wasn't, and I didn't have tech. difficulty either. Sunday I watched it and its just re-runs. If their going to have re-runs then a least mix them up.

Posted by Lakeland Kennel on 10-12-2009 09:33 PM:

I don't know how many hunting and fishing shows some of you guys watch. I am fortunate and I watch a lot of them. It is standard practice with all of them to run 1 episode a week, broadcasting it 2-3 various times. That is the way it has been done for years on all of the various hunting and fishing networks. I reckon some of you spend a lot of time in the woods and on the water and do not watch many hunting and fishing shows. I program my DVR to automatically record them and watch them in between squirrel hunting my squirrel dogs and night hunting my coon dogs this time of the year. In the summer, it is fishing in the morning instead of squirrel dogging.

It is a tough life but someone needs to do it. LOL.

The show was on at 6:30 AM CST last Wednesday morning. It would be 7:30 AM EST if you are in the Eastern time zone.

Could you guys possibly post some email links to your sponsors so we can let them know how much we enjoy Tailgate Adventures?

I can't even watch it yet, I'm on Cable TV. But I've watched the webisodes and seen some sneak peeks of the Director's cuts before editing from Joe. I'm looking forward to the continued success of the show.

Thanks Dave... you are absolutely correct. We air one original epsiode per week and two reruns for the convenience of our viewers. In other words, we try to offer different times of the day and week to accomodate different viewing habits. I too know nothing having gone wrong on Wednesday.

I would contact DishNetwork if you are experiencing issues. These are beyond our control.

old*cowboy and matt - You are both correct... we tried to make the first couple episodes for those folks unfamiliar with coon hunting or competition hunting and would be tuning in simply because it was a really new, really cool show about a sport they have never seen on TV before. And of course, you can't take a young man hunting for the first time, without a lot of explaining. And yes, that makes them a bit boring to some. However, there will be a mix of this format going forward some informational and some just entertaining. But please remember that competition hunters are the minority in the hound and tree dog world.

Please keep the feedback coming both positive and negative, as we can learn from all of it.

like i said i might have been a huge fan of the first 2 but i will continue watching and supporting the show and your sponsers, every now and then you will catch a hound episode on the realtree shows but your show is one of a kind a we need to help support it, this is the way i look at if all i found wrong with it was to much commentating then thats a good thing, to me this show puts a positive spot light on hunting with hounds to many times we get shown in the negative
