I shot 3 blade wasp hammers for 10 years......switched to 2 blade rage broadheads, and I've been using them for the past couple seasons.....I've never seen holes as big as the rage make.......good shot placement is the key, but the blood trails are incredible....JMO...

that`s what it use too.in the past 30+ years i`ve tried alot of broadheads and the rage 2 blade is my favorite by far.

I'm trying Slick Tricks this year. I've heard good things about them. I just can't get into mechanicals. I've been shooting Montecs and I haven't lost any deer just want something that cuts a little more. The Montecs do fly nice. Just not very good blood trails I don't think.

I have been shooting Slick Tricks for the last 3 years. Well, except that I didn't bow hunt the last 2 due to a shoulder soft tissue injury.

I really like the Slick Tricks. I have been shooting archery since 1965. I even shot on a league in the late 70's. After i graduated college I quit for a couple of years (got married). When I got back into archery, I let a sales guy talk me into expandable broadheads. The problem is I don't draw a ton of weight and I have a short draw length. My first shot with an expandable was on a quartering away shot. It was not good! I saw the hit and the arrow redirected it's direction by fish tailing. The arrow ended up falling out about 40 yards away. It only penetrated about 2 1/2 inches. After that experience I just can't bring myself to try expandables again. Of course in all fairness that was about 10 years ago. Still, I just can't give up the dependability of fixed blades.

Well, what a do is take a piece of stone and grind it down with my teeth till its good and sharp. Then i tie it to a wooden arrow with a piece of leather from a deer i shot. Works great.

I have actually been entertaining the thought of making my own recurve bow. Thinking of making an osage and maple model maybe with a thin layer of some other exotic wood ... that is in my spare time.

G5 Strikers, Took my first elk with them this fall didnt make the best shot but it still got the job done.

Montecs are second, you can use them over and over just resharpen, super tough.

I don't have a favorite, but I refuse to spend $10 a piece on a broadhead to shoot whitetail deer. I shoot a very slow old set up with full length arrows and a finger tab. Last year I shot a buck at about 15 yards and wouldn't you know I shot it RIGHT in the shoulder blade. My Cabelas Lazer Mag broadhead went through that shoulder, and lodged in the heart. The deer was dead in 50 yards. Thse are about the cheapest heads you can buy.

Shoot the broadhead that shoots the straightest and you can put where you want.

Going to try Slick Tricks this year. Bought a couple of packs from Cabelas and they fly exactly like my field points! Not sure what they will do to a deer, but hope to find out soon.

i switched to rage broadheads the 2 blade last year and was very impressed with the bloodtrails i will add i was not happy with the penetration of them though, but because of the massive entrace hole and devasting cutting power there was no need for a exit hole(which i had on 3 of the 5 deer i shot last year) know the pope and young bear i shot this year and not finding enough info on rage a black bears i pulled out the muzzy 100 4 blade and they did the trick.


the whole if you hit them where your aiming thing, well first off with the rage it helps when you shoot all summer and can just put'm and not have to readjust your bow the fly great, had because of the cutting size you have some room for error(this is bowhunting and things happen) as for fixed blade most have less cutting surface and don't fly like feild points which sucks when trying to hunt and keep shooting during in season(which everyone should do)

i use the cheap three blade allen's from walmart 100 grain blue lol i have never had to adjust my bow so they shoot as straight as the field tps. btw they have killed some deer too 6 bucks they get dull buy new ones

-No rubber bands or O-rings to keep them closed.

-When the blades are folded in, it's impossible to cut yourself or your equipment. Since the blades are never cutting anything but game...they stay sharper, longer.

-Shoot exactly like your field points of equal weight. You can shoot during the season without any changes of your pins or hold.

-Easily change the blades or tips if needed

-They open every time they impact a target. There is zero possibility of them not opening when striking their target

-Extremely quiet in flight. I think this is a much under-appreciated quality in a broadhead, especially when making a longer shot.

-The opening action doesn't rob the arrow of any forward momentum

-Best of all is...they're wicked awesome!

I got lucky with my Rage broadheads yesterday. Had to alter my stance and ended up hitting back and high.... Thought I was screwed but thankfully the rage 2 blade clipped the spine and it went 10 yards and laid down. Then I went and finished it off. But it cut one heck of a hole!!!!
