Ive got a 10 month old pup that is Finley River on sire and dam. He has been in the woods 4 times since Ive had him and when he is with older dogs he does really good. First time I took him out he opened the trail before the other dog but didnt tree. Next 2 times out he was with another pup and just wanted to play. Last night took him out with 2 older dogs and he went right to work with them. I think hes gonna turn out to be a good one with a little more time in the bush.

Sounds like you have a good one on your hands ,just keep them in the woods ,best thing for them...In this day and age it's hard for a working man to spend a lot of time in the woods ,with a wife ,kids ,all of the school functions, kids sports football,basketball,track,baseball, it's never ending,Hahaha..Oh, and I forgot Homework...
I found out like everyone else in my house I need a schedule (a hunting schedule) Then everyone knows especially my wife..haha...My schedule is I hunt on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat,..I dont hunt tue, Thur, Sun,...Like always the schedule is subject to change, because of weather, or maybe I'll try to sneak another day in there, or maybe my wife will take a day away..haha
Never the less, This has actually helped my wife out, and I believe I get more hunting in this way...

I totally agree it is hard to keep em in the woods with such a busy schedule. Just gotta find times to "sneak" away from the house for an hour or two lol. My wife is a home body and doesnt particularly care for alot of my hobbies... hunting, fishing and things of that nature but she doesnt complain as long as I spend a few nights a week at home with her and the kids. Just waiting for my son to get old enough to start going with me. He's 2 now so I still got a few years to go before he gets to start tagging along.

Appt. Mon at 2:40...She's getting pretty big already, nips all swelled up and changing colors.
Thanks again to everyone that has called, I truly enjoyed talkin with everyone.
These pups will be headed just about everywhere,Georgia,Carolina,Tennessee,Ky,Illinois ,Indiana ,Ohio ,Mississippi, Pa,Kansas,Missouri .....That's 11 different states, Hope she has a bunch of healthy little puppy's , can't wait.
Like I said before I don't have 3 to 4 litters every yr like some . I have 1 maybe 2 litters every 3 or 4 yrs just when I need something...And this is yr number three..
I hunt what I breed and breed to what I hunt....I love these dogs and I'm sure you will too!!! Good hunting to all..

Just bred Driver to his niece, hope she takes...Boys doesn't get much better than this, foundation stock like never before on Uncle Lee...Got Uncle Lee's Mommy Backwater Kate 4 times in 3 generation ped....Maybe one of the best crosses we've made on Brookshier stuff...All Coooon Dogs!!!!! the right kind!

donny just take ur son next year if your not out long. he will be bigger than you think. i take my wife and 3 year old daughter and she does great can keep up too. make sure they take nap couple hours b4 you go though or you will be packing them. you bout have to anyway in the brush . thats good for them to start early. if i get time ill post pics. she loves it and can call my dogs locate better than me.

I was not trying to insult anyone breeding Finley River Bred dogs by saying Brookshiers Finley River Driver is heavy Finley River Bred...If anyone would look at his pedigree ,just about every dog in it goes back to Finley River Chief if you take it back far enough...I don't claim to be a expert on Finley River Dogs and have always looked up to Gentleman like yourself,Mr.Brookshier,Mr.Starke,Mr.Monroe and so on. You guys have so much knowledge about these dogs, and I appriciate everything I have learned and will learn in the future from Gentlemen just like yourself...I love these dogs and I line breed heavily trying to lock in all these good traits..Trying to breed only the best out of each litter back to the best out of another litter with the traits I want to keep....Still learning..Good hunting to all!

NO OFFENCE TAKEN. Line breeding is all that I've done for 38 yrs. myself also. Love FINLEY RIVER bred hound's.

Hey Jason, I'll bite on this. When a person thinks of a Line or Strain of Dogs there has to be a FOUNTAIN HEAD for that Line. For Finley River it would have to be Chief, for Banjo it would have to be Johnson's Banjo, for House it would be House's Queen. When I hear the name Brookshier and talking about his line of dogs I think of Brookshier's Mr. Warren as the FOUNTAIN HEAD for that line of dogs. Steve did a lot of winning with Mr. Warren (Baldie) but looking at his pedigree on him a person could rightfully say he is as much Banjo as he is Finley River. Which is the case. So at first glance or thought anyone that knows anything about the name Brookshier and Mr. Warren isn't going to consider that as Heavy Finley River Bred because it's not. I guess the only real question I have for you is how many times does Driver actually go back to Carsten's Finley River Buck. Your showing it here as 4 times (4x?) so I guess that is in a 6 generation pedigree? Because with Ky River Chief, Finley River Joe and Mr. Warren and the amount of times you have them being in Driver (x) I see Finley River Buck at least 8 times. But that may go well past 6 generations. So how many times does Driver actually go back to Finley River Chief? You have here 3x and I guess that is in 6 generation but going back to Baldie 3x Finley River Joe 2x and Kentucky River Chief 3x and Finley River Dan 3x I see Finley River Chief at least 16 times.

Would like to throw an update out on my Finley River male. He will be a year old the end of may and this sucker is about as cold nosed as Ive ever seen a dog his age. He is a first strike dog 9 out of 10 casts. Picks up tracks alot of dogs just run past. He can put one up a tree pretty quick but doesnt have the tree power just yet. He will tree some but if I dont get to him pretty quick then he will take off and go run down another one. One good thing if he is with a hard tree dog he will be on the tree when I get to him. The way Ive been hunting him he will be a sure enough winner by the time fall and cooler weather gets here.

Im waiting to get my papers back from UKC so Im not exactly sure. I know both the Sire and Dam are Finley River line bred.
