and if i had to hunt a dog that had to get by hisself to get first tree i wouldn,t hunt him but hunt what you like

Well in thick coon a dog that can't get by it-self consistently is worthless.

i also think ukc should figure out somthing different but idk about the whole late round thing for all these little hunts. and idk how this post turned into this but i hunt both ukc and pkc and hate! alot of pkc dogs i draw! but rite now ive got a pup and hes gonna get some of yours and get to his self a time or 2 and prob have first tree a lil bit! and he has been in 4 ukc hunts and won them all! and i plan to run him for a pup ticket in pkc come bout nov. and i have no douts he will do just fine! thats a good comp dog to me are coon are to thin to be alone every time u will get beat around here theres not enough time for all that!

my thoughts exactly thin coon where i hunt you need by yourself and some of theirs or a whole lot off luck.... thick coons most dogs spend to much time trying to get by theirself to do much good...the dog that will not tree with another dog because they have been whipped for it i wonder what they do when they strike and another dog jerks the tree out from under them...just quit and go find another or what

Couple of thoughts on hunting late to determine 1st place.
What if in three cast hunt late round is comprised of two dogs who already have their firsts and one who doesn't. Do dogs that don't need a first have to go out? Does dog that does need first automatically get it cause other two withdrew?

Many hunts only have two casts of opens or nites. UKC's format generally rewards a dog that strikes well in a four dog cast. In a two dog cast a stone silent dog will still get second strike on each coon scored. Say dog a strikes , trails around for 15 minutes, throws a locate or two and along comes dog b who opens and is instantly struck and treed. One coon is scored on cast. Dog B wins 200 to 175. Do we want to reward stone silent dogs this way?

Often there are dogs in the hunts that get struck decent, stay with other hounds and cover well and then run others off the tree. These types often struggle in the hunts cause they can get in on first coon, but cast quickly disintegrates without other dogs willing to hunt with rough dog. Maybe rest of cast even withdraws when they realize they drew out with a gator. Dog can't tree a coon by himself, so he wins cast with 150 to 200 points regularly, but can't put up enough points to get his first. Do you want to draw out with that kind of dog in the late round?Tree a coon for ole gator, then he runs your dog off and goes on to get 1st place? Your dog looked so good in early round [you were so proud of his 600 point cast win]and now he is in the box licking the blood from his wounds, and you are wondering wether he needs stitches or not and how much that might cost.

thanks big boss and thats true countdown is nice! but if worm dont get first or there real fast he most likley wont be there at all. and i will keep you posted on how he does.!

truly u should only go back with the nitech be cause u only get one win and at small hunt they should hunt it off to see who gets the win
last night i won my cast in country byself with the coon all alone
150+ u cant bett a honest strike and tree dog unless u have one or two of them dam me to dogs

u now when u two all alone way in their deep u i real lised that them me to wont go to the because that is just to fair to go

There is a perception by some out there that every dog deserves a title.
We all are held to the same standard. Titleing a dog is not suppose to be easy but it has turned out to be very easy for some and very tough for others. And some can't get there at all. The rules and standards are the same for everyone and that's all anyone has a right to ask for. Wanting to lower the standard because your dog can't get there would be totally unfair to all those that have.

As for hunting it off....most of the hunts I go to hand out win slips between 3 and 4 in the mouning. You want to squeeze a late round in there every weekend too? Give it up, never gonna happen.
