The only plants that have made a come back in Yellowstone are the ones that the ELK were eating before they started to be eliminated by the wolves. If the government thinks that these plants will increase tourism then that explains why we are in the shape that we are in.

Maybe the Sierra Club folks could take some vegetarians up into the high country to see if grizzlies and wolves want to try a vegetarian diet. Not much meat on a vegan but they can adapt to it if they have to.

I just Had my wife take this Photo min.s ago !!
I was wondering what the Size Compairson Was
I'am 6'-0" tall even .. Queen weighs 100# and stands 27-1/2" at the wither .. So the more I look at it that wolf would weigh around 145-150# and I would guess it would have stood around 32" at the wither .. Just a Guess tho

Where wolves have been introduced there has been improvement in the regional environment directly attributed to them in many cases. In Yellowstone people thought they'd kill of all the elk or diminish their numbers and that has not been the case, yet other animals have made recoveries post wolf introduction, and there has even been plant species recovery tied to it.
I can't see the picture on my computer right now, but I'm assuming it's a real wolf and not a stuffed animal.
I was raised that as a hunter it's partially my responsibility to take care of the environment, and the area I operate in

I think that wolf has been killed in every state and province that has them now lol
jbpriest you must not nave many big timber wolves in central tx then, the cow elk to calf ratio in yellowstone is at a all time low thanks to these fury $%$#roachs. Maybe we should load a few up and drop them off in central TX and see how much you like them 14 years later, just remeber you have to let them run wild and cant touch them unless you want to face FEDRAL charges.

You're right we should send the wolves off to extinction like he said. They eat elk and deer! While we're at it let's go ahead and harvest all the whales in the ocean, and kill off all the bears while selling their urinary and gall bladders and other organs off to chinese medicine. They're eating the fish we like to eat. We can't forget killing off all the mountain lions. They might attack a hiker, and eat a sheep. Ohh and badgers, they dig holes. Some cow with no brains might break their leg walking into it.
There is a balance needed in the wild. Preditors are a part of that balance. That doesn't mean we should just have them within the boundaries of our parks. If that's the case we should wall our parks in and make them zoos. I'm not saying not to hunt them at all. But where do you draw the line, and how do you control it.
There's a reason I go out armed when I hunt. I've got no qualms pluggin a wolf or coyote going after me or my dog, but that is the risk we take. I've got no problems shooting the ultimate apex preditor either, but in all fairness they were shooting at me first.

JDPriest,
Just xactly what ssschool of Ag are you participatin in Texas boy? Agricultulture shurley has been infiltarated aint it bubba? Maybe your wiseass college prof can convince you of many things, but can he convince you that sending a few wolve over hyah to South Carolina will be just the "fix" we need to get rid of the Kudzu and fire ants and armadillos, and beavers and coyotes and sho nuf black Panthers that aren't here, ( but really are).
While you are still Learning , Im still teaching. And while you think that I should have been learning, I was. And then I found out that I was Learning from a Wiseass that couldn't catch a toady frog.
JDPriest , Have you ever thought deeper than a cartoon colorin book?

they dont run them down on their snowmobiles, they use the snowmobiles to get in to a place and hunt them, kinda like you driving your pickup out on the ice to icefish.

The natural balance was lost when these NON NATIVE Wolves were INTRODUCED to the western US. The Wolf was extirpated in the US, for a very good reason.
You better not let your neighbors here you talk like that, you live in TX for crying out loud. Ron White would be very dissapointed in you!

JDPriest,
Your post sounded much more heart "feeling" than sarcastic to me at that time of night. If you was "a cut'n fool" you got me and I appologize for my criticism. I like sarcasm. I love sarcasm. But I recon dat we who love sarcasm might want to post with one of them smiley faces with a finger sticking up where a nose ourght to be, just to give us a heads up.
Is that just an EXTREMELY large wolf or are most of them just about that big? They don't have wolves that big in Michigan do they?
