-- Another one of those interference questions. (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=294719)
If for some reason I was drunk, high, and off my meds and agreed to turn out next to a highway, I would gladly take my scratch cause that is the way the rules are written. But if I was the spectator I would try to hollar to the cast or walk that way so that they would know what had happened.

If a hound is in real danger does a judge need the majority of the cast to call time out?
Can a judge call time if hunters and hounds are in danger from storms?
I'm not sure a majority is needed under a real threat.

blueticker, to answer your question.....yes, a hunting judge does need a majority to call timeout. Even in a danger situation. There is no exception to that rule in the UKC rulebook. If you read the timeout rules in the rulebook, that much is very clear. Not trying to be anal about it, just answering your question.
If I drew out
on a cast where the only place the guide had to make a drop at is a busy highway,I'm sorry,I'm gonna bite the bullet and withdraw my dog.I'd rather lose a $20.00 entry fee than bury my hound. And it would probably be the last time i ever hunted at that club.

If somebody tries to get you to turn loose in a dangerous spot ( highway , posted land , etc. ), can't you ask for a cast vote as to whether to turn loose or not?
I don't know the rules that weel , so I'm just asking.

Mr.Tackett,
My point exactly!! Glad you and I are on the same page.Other than buryin' a family member,in my opinion, there's no other feelin' in the world that tears at my heartstrings worse than havin' to bury a decent hound.

if it was my spectator, i would have thanked him in that situation

jackbob, you asked a good question. I'm not sure but I have always believed that the guide has the last and only say in where you turn loose. You turn loose where he takes you or withdraw. But I might be wrong about that.
I think this is were you find out what kind of men you got drew out with. They should all refuse to drop there dogs and go back to the club and demand another place to hunt. I know the guid has to have permision to hunt on the ground he takes you to but don't kow what the rules say when they don't.
I don't think any MO in his right mind would expect men to dump there dog beside a buisy highway. Were is a mo when you need him? ( : there has got to be one on here that could answer this for us. I looked in the rule book and can't find much on the guide.

I guess I should add that none of the four handlers on this cast had the slightest reservations about hunting this spot along state road 5 and all of them had hunted that spot before. I wasn't a cast member or guide but I did have a dog in the hunt and I had no problem with dropping in that location. It isn't a very busy stetch of road even thought it is a state hiway. Around here such drops are common. Just thought I should add that.
I was getting ready to say something about that. Just because it is a state road don't mean it is busy. Heck I know old rough gravel roads that are busier than some state roads, and State roads that aint no busier than my drive way. One of my favorite spots I turn loose off of a paved road up a branch. If you go there after 9:00 or so you might see 2 cars, and if you flash your light at them they will slow down.

Did it occurr to anyone that maybe alot of guides take casts there on purpose in hopes that a couple will withdraw. Some will do about anything to win. Then you have some guys like several that get mad at me when i pull back a lane 400 yards off a state route to a huge woods. Its getting hard to get away from houses and away from busy roads anymore.
Most of the spots I hunt will seldom have a distant house dog barking. During the week you may hunt from 11 til 5 and never see an auto. I will very seldom turn a hound loose from a balcktop county road.

IF all rules were followed up to the point that the cast found out that the spectator handled the dog... meaning time out called/1 hour applied on the dog.
The handler/cast found out later what transpired when they arrived @ the truck. Time was out, 1 hour ticking
I got one ? How you going to scratch the handler/dog because of the spectator, when time was out or at the very least should of been and the 1 hour ticking.
If you care to get technical ask the spectator what time was it when he handled the dog.
From your last post about all agreeing to cut loose that point is null/void now ,all were infavor.
Well the way it was handled was they got the other dogs together off a tree and called time. Went back to the trucks to get a tracker for the only dog not handled which they found in the box. They thanked the spectator for getting the dog off the road and moved on to the next drop.
