I've seen lazy dogs in every breed. But there are some strains of Black dogs that will knock a hole in the dark.
I think the days are over when you could stereotype any breed.
There is more variation between strains within each breed than between the breeds themselves.

John V-Definition of "friend";A person whom one knows well and cares for.A person on the same side of a struggle. Helpful and reliable. We MIGHT be friends if I knew your true attitude. Some are jokers,some are just plain asses. I choose to think that you are just a joker. So am I, You're an expert on Whales, I guess you know what's at the "bottom of the sea".;
Grubbs youi are right I am a joker, and that line about the whale came from an old 3 stooge clip.........I was only teasing as I do so often on here........

John V.-Thought so. Then we could probably be "friends". I can definitely "take" the ribbing. I was "country when coulntry wasn't cool" and I've hunted black dogs for about 50 years now. Both circumstances "brang it on"(the ribbing). Have a good day.
Grubbs, what line of Black dogs do you hunt?

Black & Tans..........GRUBBS
My Dad hunted Balck dogs, and lot of other colors as well........I owned a black female once when I was a young lad in high school, and no doubt she was at that time just as good as ever treed a coon in the 60's when coon were really thin in the state I grew up in at least the part of Kentucky I was raised. A friend of mine Whaye Hines has some old stock of Black Dogs he has been raising since our high school days I think Big Wheel, Fiddler, Deacon blood ( HEY THEY ARE NOT LAZY ) those dogs put the word hunt in a coon dog I would say they hunt like a walker but that statement is used to much, and a lot of truth is pushed to the side when someone says that. Any walker man, or all bredds need dogs that will hunt like his hounds will. Some are a little tight on track, but they will get treed somewhere before daylight. Another thing about his line of dogs (NO WHITE ON THEM ) he will not own a black dog with the white chest he has keep this blood pure by being very selective of any outcrosses. Yes I do like a Black, and Tan hound they are no doubt to me as a pretty hound that exist.

John Carroll- I started hunting while in grade school(grade dogs)with my hunting buddy that still hunts w/me. Hunted grade b/t's 'til '61. Went hunting with a friend who had some pups off Moore's Blk. Bud,going back to Bloodworth's Blk. Bill,Big Timber,Timber Two and some of Uncle Jimmie Hulmes dogs. Got a pup from this friend. The dogs that I am now hunting are descendents of these. I have kept the same stock since this initial acquisition. This "line" was also kept alive by Frank "Sonny"Hester. Bartley's Blk Clyde when bred to Hunzikers Fancy got great attention, producing hounds like Minehart's Dr. J and others on down to "ACE". I have infused some Bruser,Big Hoss,Shady Lady ,Little Cole Oaklahoma Jack and more, but basically it's the "OLD STUFF". Carl Minehart and others were very dedicated and produced some "good stuff" But if your papers go back far enough, You'll find the above mentioned foundation. The Ingham's if Tennesse also got their start from Mr. Moore and kept it clean. This was the first reg. b/t in my home county and my hunting buddy asked me" What the h*** you gonna do with that thing He's been hunting this line now since about '68, He still does, but has a blue female also that is TOTALLY AWESOME.

You guys are old!!
...........
Yup Josh! Used to be a young "smart ass", now an old one. Think You'll make the graduated status??????????
Thanks, Grubbs. I have wondered a time or two what your dogs were bred up from.
The Bruiser dog you mentioned, would that have been Ead's Black Bruiser?
What caliber of hound was he?

Anyone ever hunt with Black Bart
What are some of the traits that he is producing in his pups and what is Bart's hunting style?
Yes John- Eads Black Bruser, Initially owned by Mr. Lee Eads, a real gentleman. Bruser was a well rounded hound, extremely good tree dog, very good voice. I underdstand that he sometimes was a little "tight mouthed". My connection was through Orville York's "Rattler",directly out of Bruser. I only hunted w/Bruser once. Bruser "got it done" in the breeding department.
Hey Mudslinger what is going on i am about to start class so send me something ok I will callyou after school i have to run to sallisaw to order my glasses so i will call you from my cell
