ACTUALLY ...

MY "THEN" PUPPY BROUGHT HIM OUT TO THE ROAD TO ME. I THOUGHT HE WAS DRAGGING A STICK UNTIL I BRIGHTENED MY LIGHT. JUST 'BOUT WET MY PANTS WHEN I SAW WHAT IT WAS. I'M ASSUMING SOME DEER HUNTER KILLED IT AND TOOK THE RATTLERS. ( rowdyhound ) DIDN'T KNOW WHEN IT WAS KILLED SO I MISSED OUT ON A GOOD MEAL. OH , BY THE WAY, THIS HAPPENED THE LAST OF DEC. ALTMAN SAYS HE DON'T LIKE SNAKES. MY WIFE TELLS ME I TOOK AFTER POPS TOO. DON'T 'XACTLY KNOW HOW TO TAKE THAT ONE. AS FOR THE FORD, IT HAD 67,000 ON IT WHEN I GOT IT. SHOWING 175,000 NOW. GOT MY MONEY'S WORTH FOR ONCE. TAKE CARE MY FRIEND.

The problem with a Snake bit dog is, You usually dont see the Snake that bit the dog.
In that case, how do you know if your dog was bit by a Rattle Snake, or a Moccason?

Benedryl

A friend of mine in North Carolina gives his dogs liquid benedryl when they get bit. He carries it in the truck. Says you just pour it down their throat and 1 hour later you can go on hunting with them. He said you have to know the dosage amount, it matters.
Thats all I know about it. I live in Illinois.

I was talkin to my uncle not long ago about it and he told me if they get rattle snake bit to give them milk. He said give em all they can drink and then pour down their throat if you have to. He said hes done it with everything from yard mutts to his coon and bear hounds and never had one die and he knew it was a rattle snake most of the time because he seen the snake. Hes ussually pretty dead on about these things.

if you have a remedy for the eastern diamondback, it will surely take care of the much less potent timber rattler. let me know what remedy you have....unless its a hole, most here will require you dig one...

I havent had a problem all year. I seen one orange water snake and thats all. I hunt swamp mostly so moccasins are my biggest threat but I havent seen one all year long and not many rattler anywhere else. Come to think of it ive only seen a few chicken snakes and black snakes. I ussually see one in my barn eatin the rats that eat my dog food so I try not to bother him lol. Hes sured scared the $#!* out of me before.
