Spray the pup with a water hose. They hate it.

I would suggest just leaving the no bark collar on her. I have a tri-tronics that will light them up. I have not any problems with a dog barking with it. I put it on them for a few days with it turned of. Then when I turn it on I wait for them to bark and hollar at them. They associate my voice with the jolt and usually I can step outside and hollar and all you hear is dogs hitting the boxes. I use the same method with the shock collar. I don't let them associate the collar with the shock or they will figure out when they have it on and know what they can get by with.

This collar should stop her barking leave it on her.

It simply amazes me that the mentality of a 21st century coonhunter would be to 1.) Whip your puppy harder to shut it up! 2.) Shoot it with a BB gun. 3.) If it won't shut up, shoot it with a .22.

JMO, if you use these tactics, you need to sell your pup.

I agree..most of the time those tatics are just gonna make the pup shy, skittish and not trust you and when that happens you won't be able to do anything with the dog. We've used a CO2 pitsol before - UNLOADED - just for the noise effect instead of yelling at the dogs. The "pop" sound it makes gets their attention and shuts them up for a second so you can tell them "No Barking" without raising your voice. We've found it works without making them have a fear response to us.

EASY BUT EFFECTIVE............

AT THE EDGE OF DARK PUT 2 LAYERS OF DUCT TAPE AROUND THE DOG'S MUZZLE. NOT TIGHT THOUGH, JUST TIGHT ENOUGH WHERE THE DOG CAN OPEN ITS MOUTH ABOUT 1/4-1/2 INCH SO IT CAN DRINK AND BREATH. REMOVE THE TAPE EACH MORNING AT DAY BREAK. DO THIS FOR 1 WEEK AND THE DOG WILL ASSOCIATE DISCOMFORT WITH THE DARK OF NITE. IT WORKS IF YOU HAVE THE TIME. NO WHIPPING, SHOUTING, SHOOTING, OR CUSSING IS REQUIRED.

YOUR WELCOME SIR !

JUST TRYING TO HELP A BROTHER OUT. THE OTHER THING THIS DOES FOR THE PUP IS TO DEVELOP TRUST WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE THE ONE RELIEVING THE PUP OF THE DISCOMFORT OF THE DUCT TAPE EACH MORNING. SO NOW THE PUP NOT ONLY ASSOCIATES YOU WITH FEEDING TIME HE ALSO ASSOCIATES YOU WITH RELIEVING HIM OF DISCOMFORT. AFTER HE LEARNS TO ASSOCIATE YOU WITH THESE "GOOD" THINGS, YOU HAVE BEEN VICTORIOUS IN YOUR FIRST STEP TO BEING ABLE TO TRAIN THE PUP BECAUSE YOU ARE " THE MAN" AND HE WILL GIVE YOU HIS ATTENTION WITHOUT DEMANDING IT. AGAIN, NO SHOOTING, SHOCKING, BEATING AND/OR CUSSING. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PUP.

Exactly - he might associate you with the relief of the discomfort in the morning but he will also associate you with the giving of the discomfort in the evening.....don't be surprised if he/she runs for you each evening when he/she sees you coming.

breaking dog from barking

a guy on here by the screen name trip has a good idea that my dad use to do. take a red ride or daisy bb gun and when she barks take that bb gun open the window and shoot the dog house don't shoot her but shoot the dog house instead this noise comeing from the house hitting the dog house will proved enough noise that she'll get the picture. or tei her close enough to the huse where you rigg the hose up to spray her that way all you would have to do is turn the hose on. or just keep putting the no bark collar on her on tight enough it will shock her and out it on her only at night before going to bed or after feeding and take it off in the morning before going to work this will teach her no barking at home after dark and that it's ok through the day when every one is up and about.

I live in town and have broke a lot of neighbors dogs with a red ryder. On my dogs I never use a bark collar. I use the e-collar. I tell them to shut up. Then they get a shock for every bark. If they shut up and start again latter I tell them to shut up and do it all over again. If they keep it up and nothing is out there I quit telling them and just shock them. It doesn't take long if you get hotter the more persistant they are. You don't even have to get out of bed after a while. I have 3 inbetween me and my neighbors about 100ft. away and never get any complaintes. If they bark it is becouse there is something out there and they shut up when it goes away. Never bothers how much they open in the woods.
Be sure there is no coon out there when you shock. ( :
Bringing it close to the house till you get it broke will help though. May be part of the reason it is barking.

my pup is 7 mths old and she has a mouth that will echo my neighborhood I live in the city so I have been taken her hunting 1 or 2 times a week and that calms her down and I have a 75 foot cable with a pulley and a 10 foot cable and she runs up and down the yard and thats wears her down and she dosen't bark now unless there is someone in my driveway or neighbors I think it is a energy issue

It amazes me that some of you will shoot a dog for barking. In my opinion, the only time a dog should be killed is when it shows to be dangerous to a human life or when the animal is in pain and about to die anyway. Give the dog away to some kid. It's not hard to find someone who will want the dog. And if you say that you don't want to waste your time trying to find someone who wants it then you shouldn't have a dog in the first place. It is your responsibility as a dog owner/breeder to ensure the well being of each animal you own. Anything else just shows a lack of respect for life.

The water hose method works. You spray the dog 3 or 4 times and he will get the message.

I think you are misunderstanding most of the "shooting" comments. They are talking about using a BB gun or CO2 gun....essentially harmless used as a deterrent to barking. It just give the dog a "sting" it dosen't kill them or wound them...most times the only thing it does is gives a small welt similar to a bug bite and that is only if you actually manage to hit the dog...half the time the folks I kow who use this hit the dog house if they even hit anything..the popping sound of the gun being fired is enough to get their attention and shut them up most of the time.

I understand that, but some people have clearly stated the use of a .22... and I'm assuming it's not an air rifle... I read where several guys on here have shot dogs for various reasons other than what i mentioned

Your young dog, may need some excerse.
Or if he barks from nine to ten, he may be barking at something that happens at that time.
Maby thats when a tom cat is out making his rounds, or someone is leaving for the nite shift.
You may have a coon in your garden.
Your hound will learn when its quiet time, and blend right in after a while.
A verbal correction is all I have ever used, and it seems to be working fine.

That is true and I agree with you on that....I personally ignored those comments because if I dwell onthem it kinda pisses me off...it's because of that kind of thinking and mentality that I ended up with with a few rescued hounds I needed to find homes for. Serioulsy, if the dog isn't working out for hunting/showing just find someone who wants it as a pet. They make great companion dogs.
