Thanks everyone, it is looking good. Be sure to tell your friends and family, there is no such thing as too many. Well, my wife may think so by the time I am done.

COMPLETED- WHY HAVEN'T MORE PEOPLE PUT IN INFO WE NEED THIS FOR THE BATTLES THAT LIE AHEAD IN EVERY STATE? RALPH

Posted by Larry Atherton on 06-13-2009 03:31 PM:

I should mention to maintain the validity of the responses you can only fill out one questionnaire from each computer.

I realize the use of computers will limit the number of potential responses so I will be working on alternate ways to get the questionnaire into as many hands as possible.

I will be asking for help from various sources

In the meantime, anyone who has computer access, please take the time to fill out the questionnaire.

Thank you.

Aside from this board how have you gotten the word out? Have you contacted Clubs to get all their members involved?

I have info on the UKC, PKC, AKC, Coon Den, and coondawgs message boards. I am in the process of contacting state associations, and have been pleased that some state association boards have put links on their message boards themselves.

I am also going to physically go to each coon club in the state of Michigan. I am going to one club tonight. The next couple of weeks I will try to hit two clubs a week. At this time, I have printed 500 surveys and have them in self adressed envelopes.

I have entertained the thought of trying to contact all the clubs by phone, but I don't know ...we will see.

I will email anyone who would like the Word verison of the survey, and they are able to print more copies abd are welcome to mail them to me at:

12178 N. Elms Rd.
Clio, MI 48420

I am welcome to any other ideas that others may have.

Hi Everyone,

Just a check update, I changed the link on the first page so that it is simplier to get too.

I also had a very successful outing last night, and got quite a few more quesionnaires handed out to hunters without computers.

If you have an idea to get the questionnaires into as many hands as possible, please by all means e-mail me and I'll see if we can't make it possible. At this point, I am more concerned with getting the best possible results we can get.

In writting a paper to be published it is common practice to put in acknowledgements. Just think how neat it would be if we had several pages of acknowledgements from coon hunting organizations from across the nation.

While the scope of this survey is limited, it does offer us a chance to have our collective voice heard by those making decisions that face our beloved past time coon hunting.

Thanks everyone!

Update

Hi Everyone,

Here is the latest update on the survey's progress as of this morning. So far nearly 400 people has submitted on-line surveys, e-mailed me a completed survey, or mailed me a survey.

I really appreciate everyone's help. I do not have a deadline at this time, but I will keep everyone in the loop as it progresses along.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.

If anyone is curious as to why I am doing this it is simple. I am doing this for Jared, Jayson, and Jacob. They are my sons. They love to hunt, and I plan on doing absolutely everything I can to make sure I don't lose that right for them in my life time.

That is my motivation to do this survey, get it published, and to share it with other coon hunters, legislators, and wildlife managers. We can make a difference. Thanks again everyone for your help and keep the surveys coming I would love to see the number of responses in the thousands.

Both. I haven't looked at what has been done on-line yet, but I have received responses from CT, TN, KY, IN, MT just to name a few off the top of my head. It would be nice to get enough from each state to make the results statistically significant for each state.

I plan on setting up the final report much like the Furbearer Survey Report as listed at the site below:

http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,...8664---,00.html

I plan to do statistical analysis and provide plenty of charts and tables to explain all the findings.
