They have not tried to do something yet but make a collar thats alittle more durable and maybe gets a few hundred more yards of signal..Maybe they might if these other folks get something going! I just dont get the range these others people on here do and nobody I know does either..I've said it before.North GA must be a dead zone or something..On a good night with a roof ant I can get 1.5 miles MAYBE!

with my 20's and my roof mount i get 3 miles, i can get 1.5 out of the hand held unit and 20's SOMETIMES. my 20's dont seem much different from the 30's i have hunted with.

They don't need to make them better just yet... No one else sells a GPS tracker. I'm sure once the other compant comes out with one they will work on theirs.

But I'm 100% happy with mine as it is.

I love mine to..Would not turn a hound loose again without it but I just wish the range was better in these hills.

i love mine, and id be willing to bet, garmin is already on top of stuff like marshall, they just dont need to have it out yet, most likely they will come out with something bigger and better eventually,

and as for signal, i cant say ive ever needed a ton of it, we have them for coyote hunting too, and they work wonders then, thats about the only time weve ever needed a mile or two,

but i guess my dogs arent yours

It aint the dogs. Its the coon population. We aint got none LOL.....A dog in this country can get out of pocket before you know it..HECK alot of nights we might not even get a bark..Thats the nights I wished it had more range If I could get 2 or 3 miles all the time.I would not worry about it..I still run my marshall collar just in case mine gets waaaaaaaay off..

Your right, in heavy cover your lucky if you get 500 yards out of it. I'm not talking about dense cover, I'm talking THICK, on your hands and knees crawling for hours thick.

...loose signal? how many times have you pulled out your beeper and sayed i can't get him. drive around trying to get a signal . with the garmin you know right were they were when you lost it. i have lost signal with my beepers so many times i couldn't tell you.

Get the handheld long-range antenna and don't worry about losing signal. Been using mine here in Western KY in the aftermath of the ice storm and leaves on and have no problem getting .8 to 1 mile w/out antenna and yet to lose it at all with the antenna. Let a friend use the long range antenna one night to take his nephew to a hunt. He stayed at the clubhouse and when the boy came back, the dog was still out. Pulled out the Garmin and hooked up the long range antenna and tracked the dog from the parking lot of the club 5.1 miles. Guide drove them within 300 yds. of her. True story!

You don't really think they let those satellites fail do you? Thats nothing more than the big scare over the computers going from 1999 to 2000 remember how no one was going to be able to get any money from the banks? That never happened and neither will this.

I don't know if the Government will have any money left to fix it after they buy all the banks, mortgage company's, auto manufacturers, etc., etc..

But, no, they could never allow that system to fall into disrepair. I was just trying to sound clever.

Might be a good name for this dog recovery system

I do use the roof mount ant..Still 2.5 MILES is the most I've ever got and that was just once..With the roof ant most of the time I can get 1 to 1.5 miles if I'm lucky that night.

I'd still like to see someone use one in NH during the summer. My hand held GPS is a Rino (same one the tracker setup uses) I've gone hours without it getting a signal. If I could get a guarantee that it would work as relibaly as my beeper, I'd go get one. For the record, my Johnson system is 10 years old...and it's NEVER been unable to get a beep off the collars.

Rumor has it

not only is another company coming out with one but one that will have a speaker on it as to when your dog is running you can hit the speaker button and hear your hound as well as when they tree. This company is one of the best there has been in this sport but this is only rumor and this was told to me about the time Garmin came out with theirs. I don't own a Garmin but do beleive all you have said about it being as good as it is. Now don't go jumping on me about this but I swear I was told this either True or False I was told this.
