I JUST REALLY WANT TO SAY THAT I APPRECIATE ALL OF EVERYONE'S THOUGHTS PRAYERS AND OPEN EYES AND EARS!

I'VE ALWAYS DONE MY BEST IF SOMEONE HAD LOST A HOUND TO KEEP AN EYE AND EAR OPEN.

I JUST NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD HAPPEN TO US.

I KNOW IN MY HEART, THAT ACE IS NOT WITH THAT COLLAR. THERE IS NO WAY WHERE IT IS, THAT IT COULD HAVE A BODY ATTACHED TO IT. IT WAS DROPPED RIGHT OFF THE SIDE, AND SUNK RIGHT INFRONT OF ONE OF THOSE BIG CONCRETE BRIDGE "LEGS" I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE CALLED.

WE THINK THAT WHERE IT IS LAYING HAS IT PROTECTED FROM THE RUSHING WATER, BECAUSE AFTER THE MONSOON IT CAME YESTERDAY WE FIGURED IT WOULD BE ON IT'S WAY TO FONTANA LAKE. BUT IT WAS STILL THERE.

WE ARE GETTING READY TO SEE IF WE CAN GET UP WITH RESCUE SQUAD AND SEE IF THEY CAN HELP GET IT BACK.

IF NOT, WE THINK WE MAY BE ABLE TO FIND A MAGNET BIG ENOUGH TO PICK IT UP AND HOIST IT OUT OF THE WATER.

WE WILL SEE WHAT TODAY HOLDS.

THANKS AGAIN FOR EVERYONE'S THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!

Sorry your having to go through this. I've been looking for 1 right at a month now. Dog hasn't been seen sence. He hit a track and got out of hearing. I started tracking him and within a hour I lost singnal? Haven't seen my dog or coller. Someone either knew how to kill the coller or knew how to destroy it. I hope you find your dog.

Sounds more like animal rights nuts/PETA or Humane Society people.

If it was a hunter they would have just put a magnet in the collar and had another tracking collar.

They would have also known the collars were water proof and not think they could kill it by throwing it in the river.

Check the local pounds, it has been done by them before.

UPDATE:

TODAY WE MET WITH THE SHERRIFF'S DEPUTY AND HE CAME AND ACTUALLY SAW WHERE THE COLLAR WAS TRACKING TO VERIFY THAT IT WAS IN FACT IN THE RIVER.

HE AGREED WITH US THAT UNLESS SOMEONE TIED WEIGHTS TO ACE AND DUMPED HIM OVER THE BRIDGE THERE IS NO WAY IF THERE WAS A BODY WITH THE COLLAR THAT IT WOULD STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT WITH ALL THE RAIN WE HAD YESTERDAY.

IT IS NOW A CASE, AND THE SHERRIFF'S DEPARTMENT HAVE TURNED IT OVER TO THE DETECTIVES TO BEGIN INVESTIGATION.

MY UNCLE AND COUSIN BOTH ARE CERTIFIED SWIFT WATER RESCUE DIVERS AND ARE ON THE RESCUE SQUAD AND MY COUSIN ALSO WORKS AT THE COURTHOUSE AND AT DISPATCH.

I GOT UP WITH MY COUSIN AND HE PUT IN A REQUEST TO HAVE THE DETECTIVES SET UP A DIVE TO RETREIVE THE COLLAR. HOPEFULLY, WE WILL BE DOING THAT MONDAY. WE MARKED ON THE BRIDGE AND ON THE BANK WHERE THE COLLAR IS, JUST IN CASE THE BATTERIES DIE THEY MIGHT STILL BE ABLE TO DIVE AND USING LOCATION POINTS STILL FIND THE COLLAR.

TODAY, IT WAS STILL TRACKING STRONG. I TOOK THIS SHORT VIDEO. I ALSO GOT SOME PICS. JUST FOR FUTURE REFERENCE IF THE COPS NEED THEM. WHO KNOWS WHEN PICS MIGHT COME IN HANDY.

I HAVE NOTIFIED THE ANIMAL SHELTERS, AND EVERY VET IN JACKSON COUNTY. I HAVE FRIENDS IN EVERY COUNTY WEST OF ASHEVILLE, AND IN NORTH GA, SC, AND EAST TN, THAT ARE NOTIFYING THEIR ANIMAL SHELTERS AND VET OFFICES AS WELL. HE HAS BEEN PUT ON ALL THE LOCAL RADIO STATIONS, AND HOPEFULLY, THERE WILL BE SOMETHING COMING OUT IN THE LOCAL PAPERS THIS WEEK.

HERE IS THE VIDEO OF US TRACKING THE COLLAR IN THE RIVER. IT'S PLAIN AS DAY WHERE IT IS.

you might not want to show law enforcement the picture of the coon in the roll cage unless your licensed to keep a coon

So sorry you guys are having to go through this. We will be on the lookout "down the mountain". I don't guess you had Ace microchipped??

Sure hope this ordeal is over with for you guys soon. And the outcome will be good.

NO BECKY WE SURE DIDNT. WE HAD A MICROCHIPPING CLINIC AT OUR CLUB LAST WEEKEND. WE DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET ACE OR DOC CHIPPED.

WE HAVE MADE IT A POINT THOUGH. FROM NOW ON, OUR DOGS ARE GETTING CHIPPED IF WE HAVE TO KEEP THEM IN THE KENNEL TILL THEY GET ONE, THEY WILL ALL HAVE CHIPS.

IF WE ARE EVEN PLANNING ON KEEPING IT, WE WILL GO AHEAD AND CHIP IT. $30 IF ACE IS FOUND TO PROVE HE IS OURS IS NOTHING.

ANOTHER GOOD THING THAT WE ALSO BROUGHT TO THE SHERRIFFS DEPARTMENTS ATTENTION.

SID AND SUSIE BOTH ARE DNA PROFILED. SO, WE TOLD THE SHERRIFFS DEPARTMENT THAT, AND THEY TOLD US IF WE FOUND HIM THEY WOULD CONFISCATE HIM, FOSTER HOME HIM, AND WE COULD TAKE A DNA SAMPLE AND SEND IT TO UKC FOR PROFILING AND WHEN IT CAME BACK HE WAS IN FACT OUT OF SID AND SUSIE THEN WE WOULD HAVE ALL THE PROOF WE NEEDED HE WAS IN FACT OUR DOG. THEN WE COULD HAVE ACE BACK AND THE PERSON BE PROSECUTED.

BUT, WE'VE GOT TO FIND HIM FIRST.

I FOUND OUT THAT ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO IN THE EXACT SAME AREA WHERE ALL THIS IS HAPPENING, THERE WAS A DOG THEFT RING GOING ON. OVER 150 DOGS OF ALL BREEDS WERE STOLEN AND TAKEN TO SOUTH CAROLINA TO SOME KENNEL WHERE THEY WERE IN TURN SOLD FOR MONEY.

THAT RING GOT BUSTED, ALOT SERVED TIME AND HAD FINES, BUT I THINK THE RING IS BACK IN BUSINESS AND THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ACE.

WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT IT WAS JUST SOMEONE WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A SHOCKING COLLAR AND TOOK IT OFF HIM AND THEY STILL HAVE HIM. I AM PRAYING FOR THAT.

THANKS FOR THE CONCERN. OUR CLUB IS LISCENSED TO KEEP A COON, AND THOSE PICS WERE TAKEN AT OUR FIELD DAY AT OUR CLUBS LAST MEETING ON THURSDAY MAY 7.

I hate a thief I'll be so happy when the technology is there that when your animal is stolen the chip can be tracked via satellite by one of the agencies ONSTAR for one,I hope you find him and when you do punish whoever to the full extent of the law.

Sorry to hear about

the loss of your hound Christy. In NC it is against the law to remove a tracking device off a hound or tamper with it. So if the dog is not attached then you got charges for whoever removed it. The main thing is finding your houd. Wish you nothing but the best. Take care and God Bless.

but tampering with electronic dog collars is illegal. A statewide law, N.C. General Statute 14-401.17, makes removal, tampering or destroying electronic dog collars a crime. A Class 3 misdemeanor on first offense, conviction carries a maximum fine of $200. A subsequent conviction is a Class 2 misdemeanor with a $1,000 maximum fine.
