Never had a dog bite by a snake, this is some good info. Sir I hope all is well with you and your hound, it's hard to see something you care about get hurt... take care and god bless.

Glad to hear he is doing ok! Lucky for him (and you) it was not a rattler!! We usually loose one dog a year to those!!

I have had dogs bit by them cotton mouths probably a 100 times. Threat got bit in a hunt a month ago. I usually keep Benedryl with me in the truck to get them in the dog quicker. I have used the raw eggs and penicillin several years ago without Benedryl and it worked but now I have found that benedryl has worked the best for me. Keep the bite clean.. I have never had one bitten that I couldn`t have him back in the woods in a few days. I have been bit a couple times myself but It didn`t go through the waders. Bruised my leg a little once.

Ok, so whose advice did you take and what made this dog get better? That is the million dollar question. Thanks

Yea i would like to know that too. Also, for those in the know, how many mg's of benadryl do you give per dose?

benadryl, i guy was hunting with me told me to get some he said it works heard about penicillin from a hog hunting friend of mine .i just used both .took one tablet and gave it to him and 2 ccs of pen. he wanted to go tonight but i didnt take him.

thanks. just talked to my dad. he told me that he has dealt with dozens of snake bites over the years and has never had a dog die, and he never really did anything for them lol. I've been hunting around a lot of water lately and have been seeing a ton of cottonmouths, and i know that it's really just a matter of time and i want to be prepared.

benadryl

you guys use tablets or liquid? liquid should get into the system faster than a tablet that could take 20-45 minutes to disolve in the stomach.
