Wild Dog, 8(b) no way applies to a dog scratched or withdrawn from the cast. Don't even think about trying that one to get the clock stopped.

Well,Just so ya'll know.If I ever draw out with ya..I get scratched.I'm going to get my dog! I want shine the tree or do anything stupid but my leash will be hooked to thew collar as soon as I can get there.

Just out of curiosity, how come? Why is it suddenly so important to have your dog on your leash? Aside from the fact that you are no longer competing, what was the difference between your dog being off leash before being scratched and after?

Well where you are.It probably would not make much difference with all the coon and all.Here if I'm scratched.I wanna get my hands on mine if I can.I might not see it for another few hours..Plus I dont want anybodies dog out there competing with my dog out there if its scratched.What if that dog jumps on mine at tree and causes a big fight? Say we get to tree and mine and scratched dog is locked up..Then what do we do..I just think its best to catch em!

Jim, how do you know it don't apply.
The rule does not say anything except when dogs get with other dog time out should be called.
I can see your point of the dog was part of the cast, but now that dog is just consider to be a dog in the woods.
The rule has to apply to any dog not in the cast competeing.

My reason would be the same as G Dawg,..
not that it all of a sudden become important, but in this part of the country if you are close to your dog and want to go home before daylight you better catch it.
Now if my dog was deep and minused out for moving. No I would not go running in there or go to yelling. But if it wasnt but a hundred yards or so I would go get i. Especially if like in this post the dog was treed.

Just to wade in with an attitude to get your dog is grounds for a formal complaint being filed against you, in my opinion.

It all depends on the circumstances/situation of the cast...of course there are times that a person retrieving his hound in a situation where he has been scratched would be inappropriate...common sense goes a long way

Wild Dog, read the rule, it says "group of dogs". Call Allen and ask him if a dog scratched or withdrawn from the cast can be considered interference.

I take it these dogs in Ga never get out of the country if they are competing for a win, eh?

Come on guys, you aren't worried about them while they are on the clock but they leave the planet as soon as they are off it?

I would guess that 90% of the time dogs are scratched or withdrawn while handled so really, this is just another one of those talking points.

No, mine does get out of the country when competing for a win. That is why I said is she was just a hundrew yards I would make an attemp to get her.
But you are correct most of the times it is after dogs are handled when the scratching is done.
Now that I think of it , I don't think I have been on a cast where a dog was scratchedwithout it being handled. (unless for the 1 hour rule)
