-- Buying dogs off the internet? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=270497)

If you guys were intersted in a top young English female, you are saying the video clip I made of my Angel last night would not interest you?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK1LqpkKnpU

Of course, she is not for sale at this time. But, I think it is entirely possible folks could sell dogs over the internet by posting videos of the dog in action. I think if a guy uses a blackberry phone, a similar video could be live streamed over the internet. It is not like being there, but some guy from Oklahoma could see and hear some things and decide whether to do some more nvestigation. I can easily post URLs of her mother and grandmother that are already on the internet.

We just bought a dog on a "Man's" word it ended up being nothing. How does a man hold his head up and walk in public knowing that the only true thing he has is gone. We got screwed by a guy in White Lake, NC. Got the dog on a two week trail and he ended up not abiding by that. The kicker is that he is not even man enough to answer the phone now!

bought one off a guy on here about 4 months ago on his word wont NEVER EVER do that again !!!!

Best thing we could do is list their names...If you get a trial period...Thats pretty plain and simple...People could use their own judgment whether or not to buy from someone.

Posted by stumpslady on 04-16-2009 11:51 AM:

I feel like if you have no intention of a trail period then it shouldn't come out of your mouth. This guy even tried to raise the price for a trail and then backtracked on it pretty quick. He was using a guys name to sell his dogs.

Posted by bigdavidbeebe on 04-16-2009 03:35 PM:

dogs,

I have sold a couple dogs on here and wont sell one on a trial. Cause I have had to go across the state lines to get my dog as the guy didnt want to pay for him.

I will sell one with all the trial you want here, though!!

I have bought a few dogs off this site and the other one as well. I usually try the dog or at least get refereneces on the seller first. I havent been screwed to bad yet on a dog.
Took it pretty good on a new dog box though!

My all time favorite is the old " $1,000 straight sale or $1,500 on trial". If it's a $1,500 dollar hound why would they knock off $500 just for swichin snap's on a lead strap ?

"SUMTHIN A LIL FISHY 'BOUT ALL DAT"?

I like the guys who say, "$500 now but if I hunt him some more the price will be higher." Here is a news flash, if nobody is paying you $500 now, they sure as chyt won't pay you more later. Like they are trying to hold you hostage or something. lol

Or the ever classic guy who posts a dog for "$500". The post might be up for a few days or even a week. When you call them they say, "Well that was the price at that time but I have been hunting her since then and her price has gone up."
Sure it has buddy, sure it has.

My experience with bird dog trainers is that they do this b/c if the dog doesn't sell right away they are going to keep training it and making it a better dog, hence the price goes up. I am assuming these posts you are seeing are hound trainers that are doing the same thing.

I have bought pups off the net, but the only two grown hounds I have bought without trialing first, both times I got the shaft, once plain and simple, and the other it was partly my fault, although that one I didnt invest much in. The first hound was as good as he said she was, but she would flat clean a tree, and not take long doin it...

Funny

I bought a hound from a friend of mine, that lives across the state. He said she would track and tree. I took her out the first night, she struck in front of my old dog. and was running full speed CHOP MOUTH I waited for a Bawl or squawl but it was CHOP... They treed and I got to the tree and there set the coon... I called him and said you didn't tell me she was chop mouth all the way... He said you only asked if she will tree a coon did she ? LOL I was speechless... LOL She was chop mouth all the way, but asking their mouth will be my number one question now....

I think that fair is fair! They will all get what they deserve. i do think this guy Keith should grow set and answer a phone. Our 2 week trail isn't up until Sunday. He won't call though he is too scared!! I'd be ashamed too! A man who doesn't have honor doesn't have anything!

Posted by erin jones on 04-17-2009 06:44 AM:

try before you buy

NEVER NEVER BUY A DOG OFF THIS BORD WITHOUT TRYING IT ALSO ALOT OF THESE DOGS GET RECYCLED ON HERE UNDER DIFFENT NAMES AND THE WILL SHOW UP 6 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD OR IN SOMECASES 2 DAYS LATER FOR ALOT MORE USE YOUR ARCHIVES TO LOOK UP PAST POSTS. I ALSO LIKE THE GUYS WHO GET TICKED OFF IF THERE DOG DOESNT SELL AND THREATEN TO KEEP IT OOH SCARY!

BURNT

I bought one from a guy up in PA not to long ago. It took me about 2 nights to realize how bad I got BURNT. Paid a pretty good penny for this hound and is by far the sorriest, most counterfeit dog I have ever followed. I will NEVER make this mistake again.

The more I read all the things that are being said on the post I think alot of us are talking about a similar person! They are posting under 2 different screen names if not more by the reading I am pretty sure! Its a man and woman posting the dogs and the are from bladen county, nc and white lake,nc. Let me know!!

I have both bought and sold over the internet. I feel like I've fairly described the hounds and pups I've sold, and I feel as if I've bought hounds that were fairly described. I'm not a rich man and I would say that the best scenario is to try a hound and make sure you like him. BUT, that's a lot of times easier said than done. I 've said it before and I'll say it again a lot of times people don't really know they are misrepresenting a dog. THEY JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT A GOOD DOG IS. They are selling what they think is a good dog, because to them it is. Now I'm not talking about lying about papers and dogs having pups those are just lies. There are several on this board that I will buy off there word in a skinny minute if they got what I want. And I would like to think I can sell a good one off my word I have in the past been very successful at it, and I hope they are all happy.

Also as far as dog traders go, be careful, I loaded up went to MS and got my tail waxed by a fellow that is known as a dog trader , barred from some registries, hated by some, liked by others, whether he always tells the truth or not that is for you to determine because he will show them in the woods . And He showed me several that would run and tree a coon ALONE and do it in style. I don't know how he does it. I do always suggest a trial , but if you buy from someone that is truthful and knows what a good dog is you are OK if you like what they are selling. I've always thought it was funny that some people would rather buy from someone over the phone 3 states away with no trial, than to buy a local dog that they are familiar with. I guess that's just jealousy. That's about as bad as lying.LOL Good Luck to all that buy and sell.

Unfortunately experienced some of that first hand. Everybody's perception is different & I firmly beleive that way to many havn't had the exposure to really good hound's & they honestly beleive in what they got & represent them the way they see them.

The old "Thing's are Better The Further You Drive" thing will never change I'm afraid though Like You stated. Whether gettin a new prospect or makin your next generation cross. The local dog's will be continuously over looked, nature of the beast.

i would love to buy a local dog but here in virginia there dont seem to be too may to be had.i had a good friend looking for me for a long time and couldnt come up with one and he is connected in the coon huntin world.
maybe its because im just getting back into it and havent found the right circle of friends but im for sure he is in the circle.

Nothing fishy about it, its worth a few extra hundred to put up with most dog buyers. The ones I love is ask for bottom dollar cash then want to trade junk in at new retail value. Its a two way street for the most part liars selling shysters buying just meet in the middle and trade trade trade. lol

Posted by rocky tanner on 04-17-2009 06:37 PM:

That $500 extra is sometimes used evade the guy that comes and gets your dog and the first thing he does it hunt it with the meanest and trashiest thing he can find on purpose. Just to see how he measures up. I had local hunting people that didn't ususally even hunt with me , but if they found out I was trying , or had recently bought they wanted to gather up 4 or 5 dogs and come over for a hunt. Oh yeah, and It's worth $100 just to get some of the phone calls from so called prospective buyers who after 30 -45 minutes of rambling have only called to tell you about there yard slam full of dogs that you might be interested in. NOT INTERESTED. ..........," but she goes back to old so and so".... yeah they all go back to him some just further than others.LOL

CEDARHILL....I'm in central Va and have a really nice little 3 year old female 4 sale. I'm only selling her because I am working a male pup right now. Can show her in the woods in Amelia or anywhere else close. She was my first hound, and am only going to keep one. She's $1,000 firm. There is nothing to hide on her, she's plain hot nosed strait coondog. 804-339-5901
