like
mine goes out hunts a big circle(bout 1/4 mile) and takes about 10 minutes to do it, then he ranges out about 1/2 mile, takes about another 10 to 15 mines if nothin he comes back and loads in the truck ready to for me to take him to another spot. I didnt train him to do this he just does, but i love it. Also if i tell him to go hunt it up again in the same spot he will go in even deeper but seems like if i ever send him after he comes back from hunting out a spot i always find him about a mile away so i usally dont do it i just go to another spot.

If it aint BLUE it aint TRUE and I aint going to walk to alot of slick trees. 80% accuracey is expected if the dog expects me to feed it and take it to the woods repeatedly.JMO

I don't like empty trees but lets see how fast old slick will get hooked. next to get her dun coon dog. It must be the nose on this thing i'm letin lead me around. because she don't like empty trees niether.

All I am saying is that I don't like a dog that has to be slow to be accurate. I would rather make 5 trees in two hours and have 3 coon than 2 trees in 2 hours and have two coon. Just my opinion but I cannot stand waiting around for a dog to get treed longer than I think it should. I live in a part of the county where there are more than enough coon. I want those dogs treed so I can either see a coon, or move to the next spot. I can't tolerate being bored out there. Time is precious for me so standing there waiting and listening to a track go on and on is extremely irritating
There are those that are quick and accurate and that is what everyone wants but no dog is gonna be 90-100%. That is message board talk.

briar come on up. now she has her bad nights where we only tree two three in an hour or maybe two at the most time that is. but accurace is not a question.i'm not going to put no percentage. you will see that for your self. now I took her to a hunt a cupple weeks ago and she realy pissed me off. first and first on the first two drops.layups but left to other dogs.don't know what was up with her . but shes not doing it anymore. I have taken her out four times last week made 15 trees seen coon every time.

she can move a track and will quite often beat everyone else to the tree. but I just fill very lucky to own this dog. I don't believe she will start the world on fire. but she is better than most.

I want a hound to finish every track they open on. Finishing a track on a slick tree, river bank, county road, worked field, etc... is not satisfactory for me. The reasons for wanting a hound to slick tree may be many. The reasons for not wanting a slick treeing hound is a coondog is prefered. It's easier to come up with a half coondog than a complete coondog. The problem I have seen with slick treeing hounds are most of them won't hold pressure on the slick trees after I own them for a night or so.
