The base in meat. That is a 40 pound bag. My hounds get 3 cups and the beagles get 1 3/4 cup. This is good stuff. I've fed expensive feed long enough and was glad to see this come along. They also support our local 4h, schools, and rabbit hunting club. Give it a try, you'll be glad ya did.

Anyone else heard this?

haven't been told that wal mart is not carrying these products. i know that they are in dispute with purina about the lb per bag reduction and price increases. i was told by my purina rep a few weeks ago that hi-pro and kibbles and chunks were being discontinued because of increased demand for purina one and pro plan. i think purina is marketing to the higher priced foods and the more wealthier customers. i have fed purina one for years but now i am considering switching to joy or something else. just had another price increase. i just think it is crazy to charge almost $23 for a bargain basement food like dogchow.
i really wish i could get black gold around here. i fed it once and i think it is a much better food.

To the best of my knowledge we couldn't even get the Purina Hi-Pro. All we can get in Purina foods is One, Pro Plan, Beniful and Dog Chow.
We're paying $30 a bag for a 35lb bag of Dog Chow now.

I have been feeding Exceed from Sam's for a couple months now.Very Nice Dog Food. Dogs eat it well, not much stool and never loose any energy.

I also thought the price of dog food went up because of fuel prices. Why has it not gone back down??

Over the years I have fed : Purina All Brands, River Bend , Buddy Boy, Black Gold, Sport Mix, Pride, Hi-Standard, Ultra Advantage and Hi-Tek Rations

I found 1 out of all those that my hounds enjoyed and no stinking kennels, not loose stool, no weight loss when hunted hard and plenty of energy and that was

Hi-Tek Rations - High Performance 26/18
Crude Protein - Minimum............................. 26.0%
Crude Fat - Minimum................................. 18.0%
Crude Fiber - Maximum............................... 2.8%
Moisture - Maximum.................................. 10.0%

I know feed them the :
NEW INTIMIDATOR 28/18
Crude Protein - Minimum.....28.0%
Crude Fat - Minimum...........18.0%
Crude Fiber - Maximum.........4.0%
Moisture - Maximum............10.0%

Both come in 50lb Bags.

INTIMIDATOR $19.50 A Bag . Five or More $18.50
HIGH-PERFORMANCE $19.50 -Five or More $18.50

Me and A Friend go in together and buy a pallet wich is 42 bags every month . Wich I use 16 bags a month and sell the rest.

the 24.99 for a 50 pounder sure beat dog chow a corn based feed

I know about the Exceed lamb (pink bag) and chicken (yellow bag) but have not seen Exceed meat base at our local Sam's club, and couldn't find any info about it online. Can you give me more info, maybe a product code number, so I can have our local Sam's club look it up? Thanks!

I just got off the phone with Purina, letting them know how ***MAD*** I am that they discontinued HiPro, and about how I am NOT about to switch from $20/50-lbs. HiPro to ProPlan or ONE at $35/38-lbs. (that's the same as $46/50 lbs. -- more than DOUBLE the price of HiPro), especially not when Exceed is the same **** thing as ProPlan, at $28/44 lbs (same as $31/50 lbs; still too pricey for as much as I use). They told me that they had decided to concentrate on their newer products -- apparently it's just too bad for us faithful LARGE VOLUME CUSTOMERS, the very people who made Purina a household name.

I feed 60+ Labradors about 75 lbs. a day. My dog food bill is already $12,000/year. No way in hell can I afford it to be $27,000/year, which is what it would be if I had to switch to ProPlan. And here in California, we don't have the smaller-label alternatives like Joy and Black Gold, that are price-competitive with HiPro. In MT I used a lot of Tuffy's, but after Tuffy sold the plant it wasn't any good anymore.

Sam's Club "Member's Mark Performance" is similar to HiPro, at $19.80/50 lbs, and adult dogs (especially old dogs) do a little better on it than on HiPro... BUT puppies don't (they're thin and are borderline for rickets) and the stool volume is unbelievable -- I have to mix it 2 parts MMPerf to one part Exceed to get the stool down to something reasonable. And I have to feed the puppies straight Exceed. Not so bad when they're little, but gets out of hand when you're feeding a bunch of half-grown prospects, as I often do.
