O.K. let's take a little poll. I have 40 hrs. per week to use of Allen's time. I have 1200 coon clubs. Should I :

A. Have Allen call them all to make sure their number is correct and do a drive by to check on signs.

or

B. Have him investigate the ones you all report as problems and spend the rest of his time working on improving the Performance Program, YEP Program, Hunt Tests, 50th Autumn Oaks, Formal Complaints and Misconduct Cases, etc.

(don't count my time, i'm going fishing. lol just kidding but i hope you get my point)

Todd - You have to do this like a typical government questionaire. You left out option or question number 3..
Or, "all the above!!!!!"

My biggest problem with all of this is that this problem should already be handled. If I'm running a registry and I get directions that I'm supposed to publish in my magazine and it says something along the effects of "salebarn north of town" and that's it, then I think I'm getting on the horn and asking some questions. Now admittedly I hunt mostly in the other registry. But in that registry if I've got a beef with something along these lines I can get ahold of someone at that registry and atleast vent to him my frustrations. He might not be able to do anything at that time but atleast he has a bug in his ear. In this registry I haven't the slightest idea who to call and voice my complaint. Instead I've got to get on a computer and type my complaints and hope that someone who can do something about it will read it. Now I've typed before that I'm not one to usually rock the boat but in total I'm set back $200 from those two hunts that I missed the deadline to and I'm still ticked off about it. Unless something drastically changes I will never make another UKC hunt.

I'm assuming that because you are more active in the other Registry is why you know who to call there. As you get more familiar with the UKC Registry you will learn that both Allen Gingerich and myself are very available to talk to you about any and all concerns. We can be reached between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 269-343-9020.

It's a wonder we've all survived from the day's of no cell phone's or a dang gum GPS to find our way home !!

"WOW", no mapquest ??

Don't think anyone would ever get outa town now-a-day's.

I have heard my share of horror story's 'bout the "OTHER" registry & some of them hunt's outa someone's chicken coop.

Gettin on the web to b!tch is the new wave. What in tarnashion ever happened to dialing the number & askin who to talk to?

When ya call the auto dealership with a question's about your 4 bolt posy do you expect the secratary to answer your question's or do ya say,"I have this problem, could I talk to a mechanic PLEASE"?

"OR", "My dimmer switch on the floor need's changed could you put me thru to part's PLEASE"?

Do the folks at PKC & AKC really give out cell numbers so they can be reached 24/7?

yes

hey Kellam
Im looking for a job.
I believe id be qualified(valid drivers liscense) to drive to all 1200 clubs and update each ones directions. I would also be available and qualified(cell phone) 24-7 to help those unable to read to find the clubhouses.
Id say by the time I got all 1200 mapped out, it would be time to start over, so this would be a full time employment opertunity.
If you would pay me the same as you pay Al, that would give him a legit reason to ask for a raise, which in turn would lead to a raise for you as well im sure.
I see this as a win win situation for everyone.

ps. I will need a new chevy truck.

Do people honestly expect to be able to call Allen or Todd 24/7 and get them to answer anything issue they might have?, do you want them to give you directions over the phone on how to get to a club when you get lost? are we going to blame them when we make a wrong turn and miss the deadline?

I think if clubs posted their addresses, there should be NO excuse about bad directions, or not making deadline. No internet or gps? Buy a map. I do have a gps, but I'm not going anywhere unfamiilar without my road atlas in my truck.

Russ
Im not sure that the directions you would give by mule would work. lol
go down the hollar till you get to the fork in the river, then straight up and over the ridge by the lone pine tree, then youll see a farmhouse down in the valley................

if I have a problem finding the club I just make a call to somebody else that knows where it's at or are going to the same hunt..

I aint very smart but it works for me..

To answer the question of can you really get ahold of PKC 24/7, ABSOLUTELY ANYTIME!!!! And as far as me not being able to find the club because I don't have a map, yes I did have an atlas with me. Now I want you to look in your apparently trusty atlas and tell me if you can find "Garvin Fairgrounds north of town" on that atlas. And then while you're at it try calling that number posted in there 30 minutes before the deadline. Now I don't have the slightest idea who Todd Kellum or Allen Gingerich are seeing how I live in north Texas and not Michigan, but I will tell you this. I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but if you're gonna insinuate that it's my fault that I couldn't find that club you are dead wrong my friends. How 'bout this little scenario. I live in Collin County TX and our fairgrounds are in McKinney TX which is approximately the size of Pauls Valley OK.(about 10,000 people) Now you've just driven 2.5 hours to get to McKinney assuming the whole time that the town must have 500 people in it if all the directions they're gonna give me is "Collin County fairgrounds east of town." Then you call my house phone number which nobody answers. Then you ask a person how to get there and he gives you the wrong directions. Now you're down to about 5 minutes because you've been fooling around between trying to get ahold of the hunt director and getting false directions. Now tell me what are you gonna do?

NO WE WOULDNT WANT UKC TO HAVE IT JUST BECAUSE PKC AND AKC HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS..........WHO SAID IT HAD TO BE ALLEN OUR TODD ..........

hey elvis, i was going to ask about that job. lol. i don't need a new chevy truck to do it tho. i'll just use my trusty ole dodge. lol.
i think the point here is this: with the economy the way it is and hunt numbers down, you would think that the clubs would go out of their way to make sure that the people could get there and that they were treated right. nobody can afford to be out the money it takes to go to a hunt and not be able to hunt because the directions were wrong or undecipherable.
as i said before, i have run acrosss bad directions. one club forgot to mention this one little turn. i was fortunate enough to know the area and made it to the clubhouse. i mentioned it to them and i see they have included that turn in their directions. the person i talked to said he never considered it because he was so used to just making that turn.
i did a lot of week end motoring last summer on my own and one thing i found was to always have a trusty atlas with you. but like what was brought up is a lot of times the area can't be found on the atlas. and it is frustrating when you ask and the people in the area have no idea what you're talking about.
another thing that is frustrating is when you run into detours and they aren't mentioned. in this day and age of computers there should be no excuse for not giving people a heads up about a detour.
and i have made complaints about bad directions and such. never ever heard back from anyone.
