you must have good memory or didnt get that many live tree's,,lol

kidding..

i cant remember all the trees back then that had fur cause i had a grandson of house chief and when he sat down ,,the meat was in the tree or hole and you could dig or chop if you wanted it out bad enough..

that dog was a track stradler but when he sat down you could load the gun....he is the reason i keep the old cheif/clint blood around...

He was a grade walker, that tried to freeze me to death every chance he got, he didnt know what a slick tree was, but he didnt make many trees either, Being the trackdog he was, he liked anything that left a track...I went home without him more often than not...I sure dont miss those days.

old smokey joe took a fast track one night but left it when it crossed a gravel road and headed back in ,i met him about halfway and he knew he done wrong ,had his head hanging down when he got to me,he still got the but whipping and never run one after that,,

he got a whipping for running rabbits one night and didnt mess with them after that..

he would tree a possum when coon werent moving but didnt do it all the time, didnt break him off them cause they were bringing $1.25 each and could skin them out fast .

his picture is on my webpage,he looks a lot like joe(hawkI)
the big thing i like about these house bred dogs is natural coondogs ,easly broke off game you dont want as long as they dont have any flybynight blood crossed into them...

old smokey was around 10yrs old when he died ,didnt know when to quit hunting,if you wanted to go home ,you put the lead on him at the tree or when he checked in..
.the night he died he had just got home from hunting and fed .

1 hour later he layed down and couldnt get back up,passed away half hour later,,dad said he thought he had a heartattack..

old joe(hawk I) passed away 1 1/2 weeks ago,he was around 14 yrs old and didnt know when to quit hunting either.had to put a lead on him to stop him from going back hunting...
going to miss him,,hawk2 (joe jr.) is his replacement i think,,he goes hunting like his daddy, sounds like him too.
