I'd give them to the trainer. His fault she got out and bred. Soon has she came back from her run, she should have been taken to the vet and had the shot given at his expense. JMO.
This is a tough one. Good luck with what you choose to do.

When I bred my own dogs, I found them "pet" homes on spay/neuter contracts. I only had to put one dog down because he had sudden rage syndrome.

No ,Its not the little guys fault. Accidents happen. Animals ARE NOT humans!!!! Some people need to realize it doesnt matter what we say or do these animal rights groups are crazy!!! They want all animals turned loose to run free and live they're happy little lives.

I agree the AR people are a bit touched in the head but, I also don't see the reason to kill a dog because it's not performing the way YOU want it to. That same dog may be just the ticket for someone else. JMO

Your right, so lets start a coonhound cull placement program, maybe get hsus to help fund it. We'll save the world one junk coonhound at a time.

And.........While were at it lets spay and neuter everything! Plottluver, I dont know you, maybe your top shelf, but to read your posts on here you kind of sound like all the liberal, stand in the middle of the stream, half animal rights, half hunter, dont know what to do kind of person.

Boy, you wouldnt have made it around the old Plott hunters I grew up around.

I heard Taylor Crockett tell that he culled most pups from EVERY LITTER until he found the cross that produced the type of pups he wanted consistently.

Passing off a dog that cannot perform as it was bred to do hurts the breed.

You're right you don't know me so don't put a label on me. There is a "coonhound cull placement program". It's called rescue but, since a majority of coon hunters think rescue people are just out to destroy the breeds and sport and that some rescue people think coon hunters are cruel to their dogs no one wins.

I "culled" dogs for simple things like wrong ear set or their muzzle was too pointed or they had no herding instinct.

To label me like you did because I don't like the idea of killing a dog for, IMO, no good reason is backwards. We all do things differently and have our own ways. Just because you don't like my way of doing things doesn't mean you have the right to stick a label on me.

I don't know you from adam but you don't see me "labeling" you do you? I was raised you don't judge a book by its cover.

Everyone does things different.

I figured asking this question would probably raise some hackles, but thanks to everybody who offered me advice. As of right now I have 11 healthy pups on my hands-7 females, 4 males. They may not be hounds, but I believe they'll be attractive dogs. I've put the word out to some of my friends that have deer dogs, and so far I have 5 or so of the pups spoken for.

Again, thanks to everyone who was nice enough to offer their advice without judging me. I wish this situation hadn't come about, but I do feel as if I've made the best decision for myself and my dog.
