I would vote for him because any other mayors would probably run and forget about the people because they would be scared of their reputation getting ruined first mayor I heard of standing up for what he believed in

This small town is about 30 miles from me. I have hunted there played little league ball there, and know several hunters fron that area. The town has maybe 160 people in it but in my opinion it could have 300,000 and if a mean dog is on the loose it gets shot where i come from.

I nor my family puts up with a mean dog of our own and we sure in the hell are not putting up with someone else's. It is because of situation like these that make me belive people are so stupid!!!!

"Mr. please dont shoot my dog, he will quit chewing on the kids when he gets full then i will pen him back up."

For all of you that thinks this guy did wrong you would be the first one to file the large law suit on the City, County, Sherriffs office, Ect. trying to get money when one of your kids or grand kids were chewed on by these types of dogs because no one would do anything. You are also the kind of person that wants to raise taxes to house animals like this in animal shelters, and I would bet you also pay yearly PETA dues!!!!!!!!

I will personally promise if someone has a known mean dog or any animal for that matter and it harms my kid. My guess would be that I am in the news paper article for not only the dog but the owner as well!!!!!

Why does someone always want to wait for something bad to happen? Lets just wait for a kid to get bit or mauled by one of these dogs...stupidity! I can't stand the mentality of wait and see. If these dogs were aggresive and causing problems they should have been taken care of long before the mayor did it.

Looks to me like he was saving the town. You can only tell someone so many times to keep their dogs under control before it is time to take action. A few years back a piece of land that my family once owned was sold and a guy was allowed to keep his pittbulls there. They kept getting loose and causing trouble. Well, one day one got loose and got a little too close to one of my daughters. He didn't make it back to his chain.

A person is more valuable than a dog...an innocent child's well being is more valuable than a dog. God created both and he specifically tells us in the Bible that people are above animals.

Thats the perception that we are told. However the cop reported at the time no aggressive behavior was shown as they were tied up and laying in the front yard. Who knows the kids may have threw rocks or provoke the dogs to chase them. We don't know because the parents never filed a complaint with the law nor did any of the others pursue their complaints and what complaints that were made all requirments were met and satisfied by the owner and cop. These are the statements and many have their own opinion. without knowing all the details I am without an opinion.

ok lets put everything aside on what they were doin on THAT DAY why the hell do you need to contact the police four times prior and nothing got done that is the true crime jeez and when did this get turned into how well we can shoot who cares

It doesnt matter if you're the mayor or the farmer down the road, if there has been FOUR previous complaints about the dogs chasing kids and you don't get rid of the dogs, do you honestly think your doing the right thing????? whos more important kids or mean dogs????

Its not like he went out his back door and shot someones hound for treeing is his backyard. He was protecting his community from some dogs that apparently didn't need to be alive in the first place.

Well if you think that way then your no better then the Mayor. The Mayor shot in town limits from a vehicle at 2 tied dogs laying in the yard. These dogs could have been the meanest dogs on earth and wreaking havoc. There are procedures for fellow citizens to follow and he didn't, he acted like judge and jury a vigilante. He did wrong and should be punished. The dogs aggressive or not should have went to animal control or the cops to handle not a lone Mayor with a gun.

it bewilders me how so many people on here are willing to put those mean a$$ed dog before the kids in that town... the guy was warned 4 times, he new he had a problem and he agreed to get rid of them and never did..... if anybody is to blame it is the owner of the dogs..... I live in a town of less than 300 residents, which is twice the size of the that town... I know where the mayor was coming from and think he did a good job...... not a single one of bashers know anything about the area..... for all ya'll know the dogs were standing in front of a 15 ft burm and no other houses around for 1/4 mile.......

When a coon dog is shot off a tree in someones backyard and the homeowner says"it was going to attack me or my kitty" everybody says hang him from the highest tree.

But the mayor does basically the same thing but worse. He shot the guys dogs out of his front yard in town and were supposed to feel sorry for poor Mr. mayor when he get's what's coming to him.

I hope they prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law to prove the point that you CAN"T just go shoot somebody's dog.

Probably IS a lot more to it than meets the eye! Newpapers reporters don't claim their are statements are TRUE -- just that they have been ACCURATELY reported with the information they have been able to obtain. . I would like to know the real story myself. I know a person can legally take a dogs life if it is doing harm to them or their property and this is why deer hunters always claim the dog tried to bite them. We don't really know what happened. There are cases that are above the law and a person's actions are justified by that.

This one certainly has shown that these cases are not cut and dried. Laws need to be followed but we all know that there are times when the law does not move fast enough to meet a need. While few people like the way this went down a lot of us see that the mayor decided to put leadership above being re-elected. Now in reading the Morningsun articles it says this town is 400 people and some say it is more like half that number. Either way those who have lived in a small town know that folks have their families and lives very connected for better or worse. I won't say its right to violate the laws that should have been followed but I have watched enough old westerns and seen enough real situations to know that there does come a time to act and then face the consequences. It sounded like Mr. Call did not attempt to hide his actions and did not shy away from standing up for what he did. America could use a few leaders with that courage. Problem is the re-election rate for being that kind of leader is quite low and the re-election rate for yellow back limp wrists is quite high.

Well I don't know if it was in any of the reports you read, but it was all over our local news that there had been four previous complaints about the dogs, so my facts are straight...
