so you should not get in on a tree becouse your dog has a week mouth or other dogs are drowning it out??? you are the ones talking bs now .. i dont do it every time out but if i know a dog is drowning mine out and i know he is there i am going to put it on the paper and if he is not i get a minus so how is that cheating ??now there are people who call there dogs on yours and things like that but piching in not cheating as long as you are not saying this dog is mine when it is not.

How can pitching not be cheating if you can't hear your dog? There is no way you can know your dog is at a tree unless it has absolutly no independence what so ever. If that is the case you may still be stealing points from someone else cause you might tree your dog before they do if they wait to actually call their dog as they hear it. You can't cheat a little, either you do or you don't! Pitching a dog in a hunt is no different than striking a dog babbleing or treeing one while running and then hope it is treed before you get there or get busted. Face it man, cheating is cheating plain and simple. I'm sorry but that is my opinion and if I had to reguraly pitch my dog cause I couldn't hear it it would be replaced.

It doesn't matter what the reasoning is, Pitching is cheating. No honest person can say it isn't...If your guessing your dog might be there, then you are trying to gain an unfair advantage , and that is cheating...Plain and simple...And it does happen, and it does sour some peaple away from the hunts.. This aint suppose to be the World Series of Poker...its suppose to tell you who had the best dog that night... Just my two cents..

As long as everybody plays fair.I can play fair..If they dont? You do what you gotta do!!!

I was judgeing an RQE cast one night and with like 10 sec left this guy says tree mine through there. I say where, he says that way. No one can hear a dog and I don't have superman hearing or nothing but can hear decent. He then asks if we can drive around? I laugh and say you treed him from here, we are going to hear him from here, and walk from here. Needless to say the two minutes got this treed hound and then we drove around. Dog was not treeing from that side either. he used a tracker and went to get him and of course when they came out, oh yes he was treed just like I said. Then he prceeds to ask why I wanted to stand and listen for the dog? I told him it wasn't my first rodeo and don't appreciate handling like that and the next time it would be in the truck. I don't understand why people have to help their hound win. If you have a good dog you call them for what they are doing not what you think they are doing and usually you will win. If you can't hear the dog doing it it is not doing it in my opinion.
You aint supposed to except a tree call if you cant hear the dog!!

Pitching my dog has always cost me some minus points, BUT if I'm holding 100 strike and 2 or more dogs are in there treeing you can bet your @$$ I'm going to pitch her in for 25. -25 is better than -100 any day of the week. Not saying my dog will always go to another dog treed, but IF she decides to then I don't want to run the chance of -100 when I could have taken -25 and still been holding the 100 strike. JMO
Would I pitch her if I was holding 100 strike and all the other dogs were treed? Yes because if she did go to them and they got a coon now you got -100 where you could have had +125. It really depends on the situation more than anything else for me I guess.

If you are hunting a real coondog pitching will only get you in trouble. They don't care what the other dogs are doing they will do their own thing. So if you pitch your dog you better have a me too dog. Won't work for me.
This thread reminds me why I only pleasure hunt.
I'll admit that sometimes I get rules of Night hunts confused sometimes, but the one thing I do understand is the title of the rules: UKCŪ NITE HUNTS 2009/2010 OFFICIAL NITE HUNT HONOR RULES.
I know what HONOR means. If I call my dog wrong and I know it I will not sit there and hope no one says anything I will turn to the judge if I aint the one judging and tell them to minus that strike or tree(if I am judging I inform the cast that I am minusing the call). I normally will get a response of "thank you, I appreciate that" from the judge. If I win, I want to go home and lay down with no reservations, knowing that I won with HONOR. If other people can take their wins by pitching, cheating or other NON-HONORABLE ways and feel fine with it, then more power to them.
Just my two cents, I sure aint no saint by any means, but I do know what honor is.
if it is a fair hunt then play fair but if the bs starts then let it fly

A guy had a walker and to get a head on points he called my blue dog. Big difference on mouths there. I got pist off and with drew cause I already knew the pencil was going to come out and start pencil whipping the other two boy that were huntin in that cast but hey you cant take it to the moh when the guy who did this is his best buddy. The good ol boy system came in to play that night.
pitching a dog is wrong and this does happen at night hunts so this is how you fix it purchase a hound that has a loud mouth or the potential to get split every single time from those other other hounds, having a hound that has no distinction between the others is half the problem or having one that can't get by themselves. if you are breeding for for a quite hound and one that pack hunts this probably is not the sport for you

I used to hunt a couple dogs alot in the hunts that had a very distinctive locate.
That distinctive locate can help the pitch man beat you cause if your dog is good about having a coon, and they were, others would tree thier dog on your dogs locate.
Of course what they didn't know is those dogs were related and would occasionally throw a locate in frustration. They had to give you 3 before you could put them on the paper. Then it got fun as they got minused for jumping all over the first locate. I have told more than one "if you're gonna call my dog you need to hunt with him a little more so you can tell what he's doin". LMBO.
