Ok I guess it is 2 cups!!! I was just thinking of a cup as a cup.. But I looked and it is a 2cup.. Pro Plan gives them out and thats what it is 2 cups. What I ment was sometimes I feed by the bag and sometimes I don't. Dogs are just like people different Matabolisms and the way they burn fat and energy!!! The 2 cup thing works for my dogs.. Just because it works for me does not mean it will work for you.. A 37.5 pound bag last me almost 2 weeks maybe 3.

Great Coonhoundbabe now were on the same page. I have owned dogs that took half to feed than others
This one I hunt today is neither a hard nor easy keeper. Hes right in the middle but if caught loosing to much weight he turns into a hard keeper lol Im glad we figured this one out. Thanks

Scott, before I started feeding them Pro-Plan they were eating Sportmix 21/12, same as the deer dogs get. I was giving my blue dog one full dinner cup of the Sportmix a day, and she still looked a little big to me. Of course, she wasn't hunting regularly either. That doesn't sound like much feed, but from looking at the Pro-Plan cup I imagine it was more than it looked to be. Whether it was more or less, she just didn't look as good condition or coat-wise on the Sportmix as she does on Pro-Plan. I was giving my younger redbone and my old Walker about 3 dinner cups of the Sportmix a day, and they were bigger than I liked them. Then when I cut back the Walker looked WAY too hippy for my taste. I just couldn't find a happy medium. The deer dogs eat Sportmix out of automatic feeders, and even though they're run pretty hard almost every weekend they are MUCH bigger than they have been in the past. For 6 dogs we probably go through about 100 pounds or more every week and a half.
I'm not going to necessarily say I feed a LOT less Pro-Plan than I did Sportmix, but I like the way it makes my dogs look. Not to mention their stools are MUCH less messy on both Hi-Pro and Pro-Plan. My red dog has had very loose stools all her life, and when she was switched to Pro-Plan they hardened right up. As long as I can still afford it I'll keep feeding it.
pro plan

see i was just the other way. i fed pro-plan and the hi-pro and my dogs had runny stool and i had to feed what i thought was a lot more feed then i used the sports mix 26-18 or the 27-20 one is black and the other blue bags. my dogs look great and feed less . stool is a lot better .

Feed
You know, I truly believe that each dog acts, looks, and performs differently on all feeds...............
I have been feeding the Sportmix 26/18 for about a year now, there is not much stool to clean out, the dogs perform great while hunting.....have plenty of go-power, and their hair, eyes look good.......BUT, my old male just doesnt hold the weight on................So, on Wednesday I picked up a couple of bags of Hi-Pro, have tried it before and didnt like it then, dont think I will like it now......But I am going to try them on it for a month or two.
I did mix it with some of the Sport-Mix, but have already noticed more stool volume......But give it time and maybe they will adjust to it better........I hope...!!
I tried the Pro-Plan for a while and for the price, I just did not feel it was worth it.
I tried the Diamond Extreme Athelete a couple of months ago, that was some good feed and if the Hi-Pro doesnt work out I might go back to the Diamond Extreme or another of the Diamond Naturals brand.
Thanks.........................Tim
