Buckshot,
I am well versed in reading comprehension. My point is at the time, Miami was considered to be the most dominating team in the country with superior TEAM speed to most everyone else including Alabama.
1992 Maimi = Dominate team = apple
2007 Florida = Dominate team = apple

Florida vs. Alabama

I am pulling for Alabama but I think Florida will win. I love this game , you have 2 great head coaches both with National Championships and being a bigtime SEC matchup you are going to see some hard hitting, smashmouth football. I will say that if Florida jumps on Bama early it could be over quick. Bama needs to come out smoking both on Offense and Defense and not give Florida the big play and the momentum early. Bama needs to try and keep the Gators special teams in check which will be a tall task considering Florida may have the best special teams unit in the country. If the Tide can keep close to the 4th quarter they might have a chance however in my opinion a slim one.

I also want to comment on who is the best conference. I think the SEC year in and year out is tougher, however this year from top to bottom the Big 12 is better. But in the National Championship game I think the SEC team will be hard to beat. They have proven that the last couple of years just ask OSU and until proven on the field otherwise they are the conference to beat

Mike, who is #1 and who is #4 in the BCS?

Isn't #1 also undefeated?

So your saying Florida will do to the Tide like what Bama did to Miami?

Mike, if your a true SEC fan, you know as well as me that an SEC vs SEC matchup compared to an SEC vs (any other conference) is in a different league.

The SEC had 5 teams in the Top 10 at the same time until they had to play against each other.

Take LSU last year..............You reckon playing Ohio State was as hard as playing a regular season SEC game?

Remember they were a 2 loss team who won the National Championship.............Give you a hint what conference those losses came from. First letter is S, second letter is E, and the last letter is C.

They lost to an 8-5 (4-4 SEC) Arkansas and a 8-5 (3-5 SEC) Kentucky................notice the conference loss on each team?

My point is your not playing a team like Miami from a different conference.

Your play a team from your own conference..........again, oranges and apples.

Look at SEC football.........there is no comparing playing a game outside the conference compared to playing a game inside the conference.

You can look back on history and try to compare teams Alabama played but fact is, SEC vs SEC is in it;s own league.

I still think people are going to be shocked... yes FL won alot of their games by something like 70 - 14.. but they also played schools like south montongomery high too... they also play the type of ball to mount big scores... AL plays a ball control style of football.. if they control the ball and use the clock FL will be sitting on the bench and NOT scoring.... AND, no matter what anyone says I still believe this game is for the NC.......... If the big 12 and SEC played acrost the board Tex Tech, Texas and OK would have more than one loss!!!!!!!!

Still AL 28 - FL 24

I remember when Colt Brennan was supposed to be Payton Manning and then a little something happened........... he played a REAL TEAM. Same way with ohio state every year. Every year it's the same junk. The SEC is in a league of it's own. That's all there is to it.

That game was after they had already beat the SEC Florida.

My prediction is Tebow will be T-boned by a rather large feller when he trys to run up the middle.

Bama may get beat, but they will come ready to play and with an excellent game plan. No other coach could have the defense as ready for this game as Saban will.

Who remembers when Auburn went 13-0, but couldn't get in the NC game because their schedule had the Citadel on it as a win?

The Citadel game was not what kept them out of the NC game.......Auburn along with every other DIV I school has weak opponents on their schedule every year. LOL, sometimes those weak opponents pull one out of their hat -- Ask MI about APPL. State and ALabama about LA- Monroe.

What kept AUburn out of the NC game was too much ground to make up. They started the season ranked 17th. Finished up 3rd in the BSC. If you want a chance to play for the championship, starting the season that deep in the rankings is is almost impossisble with the BCS formula.

TN paid Fulmer 6 Million to leave, well today Auburn has paid Tuberville 6 million to leave...........word is they are going after the same coach they wanted a few years back.........Petrino.

I'll have to argue with you there, do you remember where Alabama was ranked when the season started??????

I can't even remember if they were even in the top 25. I would rather see USC play FL, just to see who would win. The BCS is too flawed any way. We will never know till a playoff system could take the place of that brain fart idea.

I'm not sure how my original post got to SEC vs. everyone else. The point being Alabama will be playing a very powerful team in Florida. Just as they did in the 1993 Sugar Bowl against Miami. Florida has arguably the fastest player in college football in Percy Harvin, just as Miami did in Lamar Thomas. Bama was/is a double digit underdogs. Bama hasn't won a lot of games pretty of by a large margin, just like in 1992. Just stating similarities, it happened once it could happen again. Who knows Rashad Johnson might just run down Percy Harvin from behind and strip the ball. Just like George Teague did to Lamar Thomas who was much faster on the clock. Emotion can cause stranger things to happen.
As far as my loyalty to the SEC, my middle name is Bryant. I went to my first Bama game in 1966. I have degrees from Auburn and Alabama. I've seen my share of SEC football. With that being said, I believe the SEC is the best conference the majority of the time. However, I am not kennel blind nor am I conference blind. This year overall the Big 12 is the best conference as is evident the way the SEC finished up with the non-conference play. I do believe an SEC will win the championship. Just don't think they are as deep as the Big 12 this year.
I may be wrong about all of this, after all you have Sheepster agreeing with you.

Now that right there is one coach i can't stand. The gutless, spineless, good for nothing quitter should be ashamed of himself. PIGSTINKO doesn't even deserve to be coaching football period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm glad he's gone now and my Falcons now have a REAL COACH in MIKE SMITH.

Are you guys crazy? The SEC is better than the Big 12? Flordia will beat BAMA by 3 maybe 4 touchdowns. Whoever wins is gonna get a big dose of SAM BRADFORD and BOB STOOPS. The SEC dont want any of that this year.

Posted by Buckshot on 12-04-2008 03:03 AM:

Mike, you were comparing a team that you guys played over 15 years ago that was in another conference.

I was clearly pointing out that playing SEC vs SEC is not the same as SEC vs other conferences.

Since you want to compare that Miami team yall played that year, look at back at that season.

You beat a #12 Florida team 28-21 with a INT returned for a TD with 3 minutes left to play in the game to win the SEC Championship.

You guys beat Miami single handling 34–13 .

My point is that #12 SEC team was an harder game to win than a #1 from a non-SEC conference. Why? Because SEC vs SEC is a whole league to itself.

Again----- Apples and Oranges.

BTW, my blood bleeds orange. I am a Vols fan through and through. I despise the Gators, but I have watched them since the Ole Miss game and watched Bama, and FL is on a roll.

I hear FSU has the youngest O line in the country, maybe next year they can stay on the field a little longer. I know I'm tired of hearing next year, but football runs in cycles any way. I like watching football when nobody knows who is going to win. I liked it back when FSU, FL, and Miami were NC contenders. I'm glad to see Bama back competing again.

Ray did you get a hold of Don yet? Is TR Miller still in the playoffs?
