I keep close tabs on feed prices, and have for quite some time, since I was buying feed 22 ton at a time.

One of those stores is having a "feed sale" this weekend. They are selling the Diamond 24/20 for $17.99 per bag. Now I know that shipping is currently running between .75 and 1.00 a bag...so that brings the FOB price down to 16.99 a bag.

If what you say is true, somehow TSC is buying that same bag of diamond for around $8.50 a bag. I find that very, very, hard to believe that Diamond is selling TSC feed at a loss....

I'm sure that there are some items in the inventory at TSC that are marked up by 50%, but feed, be it dog food, or goat feed is NOT marked up by %50 anywhere.

you might want to go back over your figures. if retail is 17.99 a bag and there is a 50% markup from wholesale, wholesale price would be 12.00 a bag. 50% of 12.00 is 6.00. if wholesale is 8.50 a bag then 17.00 a bag would be a 100% markup. my son works at a local supply store and their mark ups are different depending on what they are selling. clothing has the largest markup, sometimes over 100%. not sure about feed. would figure it would be around 30%.

I thought about that at about 1:00 AM while I was driving from drop to drop.

I was talking on the phone at the same time as I was posting that. I need to pay attention to what I'm doing when it comes to "cipherin"

One good example - did you ever price a case of beer at your local grocery chain and at your local bar and wonder why the grocery store sells it so much cheaper? It's not because of the volume they buy, it's because they hope you will buy lots of other things while you are there.
Same with dog food.

are you talking about" black lable" or bud lite there a difference, just ask Ben .

Price of EVERYTHING drops during a recession. Or, so I've been told.

It makes me want to go buy a 500 gallon tank and fill it full of gas at $2.59/gal. I have my doubts it will stay that low...

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Recession, or could it be the election? Last night I paid 3.19 driving from TN to Fl, 2.59 would have bought a nice dish of oysters compared to 3.19

Old Timer

I bought a bag of Black Gold a week ago for $25.00.

Iowa deer season is coming up soon. In my part of the state there is a hi-power season in late winter. Strictly does.

I figure with what I would spend in dog food per year at the above mentioned price, I can buy and fill enough doe tags to allow my dogs to eat government speed beef for an entire year.

I've got a big deep freeze and I'm not afraid to use it...lol

Dogs weren't meant to eat corn anyway.
