in my opinion if dog was struck hes scratched and those of you asking if dog just sitting there would get plused on a coon no because he wasnt struck or treed

I dis-agree with everyone that says dog "D" should be scratched. Dog" D" won the cast....No one can prove the dog "D" was running the off game track (handler didn't strike in), and just because he/she wasn't barking (treed) proves to me that he/she knows better than to tree off game. I say, Great job to trainer of this dog!!!..

This arguement sounds to me that some people have been in this situation or something similar and hold bad feelings to the outcome that they had...If it was me, I would leash my dog, shake the hand of the handler of dog "D" go home and train my dog not to run off game.

PS..This is probably why I don't have a Hunt title on my dogs...too much pi@@en and moaning about who's right and who's wrong..Win at any cost..Just play by the rules, stop bending them to suite you...If ya gotta cheat to beat, then you out classed and out gunned!!

I went back and read in the world hunt issue of the year 2000 bloodlines today where it talks about this question. Dog D does not get scratched. The rule states any dog found to be running,molesting or treeing off game.

running= following a trail. silent or barking.

molesting= fighting, or biting

treeing= BARKING up a tree

Also if dog D is handled at this tree and begins to bark while on the lead he CANNOT be scratched.

If the dog is struck in and then found at the tree but not barking you minus his strike points because he quit his track. You can't prove that he was in fact running the possum

well in my understanding of the rule, if a dog is at the bottom of the tree and has not barked and does not bark within the whole time u r at the tree then the dog can not be considered treed therefore the dogs that were treeing at the tree are scratched and nothing happens to the dog that did not tree.

I finally got one right,its been a while.LOL

you are correct about the constant learning process. it never stops.

a ? dog is at tree what is he doing there stopping in to ask other dogs what they are doing maybe scratching the backs of other dogs - This dog was treed plain & simple - A loophole for a half trained dog ! Where in the treeing part of rule 6 k does it say dog must be barking ?

Rover...imo ...that was a well trained dog...maybe the dog did go check out what they were doing and then saw the lights coming and sat there waiting for the handler....You and I would argue this all night if that was my dog...but obviously your ok with wondering the woods looking for a treeing/trailing dog that don't bark, if your calling a dog sitting at a tree as "treed...OMG....please don't breed that kinda dogs..we will never find them unless the other dogs tree something...lol

AboutLastNight lol I have plans for one more litter of pups & I do hope they will bark but if they do not bark there owners could buy a Garmen tracking system & know what they are doing unless they get over 800 yrds away lol Good Hunting
