Elvis,

I will try an experiment tonight. I will go home and tell the misses I am buying ya a Ford ranger so you can hunt my biscuit eater.

If ya all don't hear from me in a while, the conversation didn't go well.

I've taken money for hunting a dog and under the right circumstances would do it again. I might also pay someone to hunt one of mine.

But, for me, the real lure about this sport has always been that the average Joe could work his job during the day and still be able to buy any pup, breed to any stud, hunt a dog and have it at a level that it could compete with anybody. A nobody can become somebody.

I don't begrudge those that have accumulated alot of wealth by working hard, smart, and honest and wish to spend it in coonhunting. They've got a right to do with it as they wish. I just regret that as time goes on, the average Joe's will have to either drop out or start counting dollars and realize they have to go to work for the money men in order to coonhunt. There are already some events that are high dollar entry and even then are invitation only. This is bad for the future of the sport, imo.

The cost of living is going to keep slicing away at those that have the most shallow pockets. If that keeps up over time, just look at who will be left at some point. Perhaps by then it'll be a moot point since what a few rich men accomplish will mean very little to the masses.
