R an D sounds like a great product I am all for saving money and only having to apply once a year is great. How did you come up with the doseage

Bayer

Ive used the Bayer product on all my 4 dogs and it works great . Theres no adverse reaction to the product, I did alot of research before I would take a chance on my dogs. Im not sure if you can do a search on this site, but someone had the exact formula., according to weight, Use just have to use more of the Bayer tree scrub, than advantage, due to the percentage. If you want I can look it up on the ratio per lb.

yeah that is what I was wondering is the ratio per pound of dog. My dogs, like everyone else's, range in body weight by about 5 pounds to 8 lbs. Thanks

Activity of imidacloprid against ticks
The highly specific mode of action of imidacloprid makes it an ideal compound for insect control. However, it does limit its utility against ticks and mites because they are arachnids (the same class as spiders) rather than insects. Research has shown that imidacloprid does not bind as well to arachnid receptors as it does to insect receptors. For this reason, imidacloprid is not utilized as a stand-alone ingredient for canine tick control. Rather, its limited activity against ticks is best exploited to enhance the efficacy of other compounds, permethrin in particular.

I've used this product for two weeks now and have not found one flea or tick on my hounds. Have found ticks on me but not one on the dogs. I like it!!!!!!!!!! Thanks R & D Kennels.

Can Bayer be used on pregnant females?

Thanks again R and D Kennels for sharing the Bayer product. I have had it on my hounds for 10 days and have run them enough to know that this really works without any complications. Wish I had known about it a few years ago the ticks in Missouri are out of control. Please keep sharing your knowledge--this will keep me runnin for the rest of the summer.

Not saying it doesn't help. I think it does, personally. There's been mixed results with it on ticks but almost all have been better with then without. Even if it keeps most ticks off but not all I'd say it's still as effective or more and cheaper then dips.

However, Fipronil is much more effective for ticks alone based on what I've seen. I'd be very interested to know if anyone has tried Termidor. Looks like same as frontline from the bottle. It's a bit more then T&S but way cheaper then frontline. Have any experience with Termidor?

no problem Lolz true its not really listed for ticks but does work and like its been mentioned numerous times its cheap the cheapest actually of any source

one thing i cannot or will not vouch for is use on bitches in whelp never applied it within the time frame yes they have had it on them from the initial dose .. and to be honest i have never read advantage literature to see if it is harmless or not thats something we all should do if planning to use on pregnant bitches

one important thing that i mentioned in my last post is it doesn't matter if so and so uses what dose 1 cc works on every dog i have owned since using it on dogs over 3 mos of age

thats all the way to 80 # dogs the only thing i do different for the bigger dogs is spread it more evenly down the back its more of a psychological thing then anything else imo

just so the little critters don't have any room for hiding i cover the bases .lol i read on here on the coon hound forums where a guys uses i believe it was 8 cc's and spread it all over the body thats unneeded and wasteful IMO

Just making sure before I buy the stuff.......the Bayer Tree and Shrub that you are referring to, does it come in a blue bottle (a little bigger than a quart of oil?

we just bought the Bayer to try on our beagles, but what about cats, we have an outdoor cat anyone know if it is ok for him too?

As far as cats go I don't think you are supposed to use it, because of how much they groom themselves.

I went and got the bayer tree and shrub protect and feed in the blue bottle do you mix it with water or put it straight on the dogs. What about females that has pups on them should I use it on them or not. Thanks for your replies.

one piece of advice. I went to Lowes to buy some and without paying attention I got the tree and shrub with fertilizer. They are the exact same in looks, but I don't think the fertilizer would be helpful

Use it right out of the bottle the dosages i mentioned is spot on for the percentage of imidacloprid in each ml of bayer

I put it on my dog three days ago when I noticed a tick on his ear. I left the tick on there and its still there after three days, but it hasn't got any bigger. Should the tick fall off when it dies? I put a .5cc at the base of the tail and another between the shoulder blades. I tried to get it on the skin, but it seemed like alot soaked into the hair. I didn't think it should matter since he is a pretty short haired beagle. Should I put more on?

I also put it on my Lab at the same time. When I got home today I checked her ears for ticks and found two. One right next to the other. One was HUGE and both were alive and kicking. So is this stuff not working or does a bigger dog need a bigger dose. I followed the diredtiions that were given. Let me know. I hope I didn't waste my twenty bucks. All the other tips you have given have worked, but I'm wondering about this one.

I am not sold on the product yet either. I treated the dogs last Saturday, there has been ticks on the dogs, but not any big ones. Tonight after running, I looked the dogs over, and the one dog had probably ten smaller ticks, probably that she had just picked up tonight while running, but she also had two or three big fat ones that had been on there since probably yesterday. I put 1 mL between the shoulder blades, and 1 mL on the tip of the tail. However, my other dog didn't have any bigger ticks on her. Earlier in the week, the ticks that were on the dogs acted like they were drunk or something. Moved very slowly, if at all.

I had a friend try it and his dogs had 14 ticks on them, I'm not saying it doesn't work but it obviously has mixed results for different people, I'll stick with using the Large Breed Frontline and breaking it down to the right dosage, it works out to about a little over a dollar a month per dog and I know it works. The break down is on another board, I use .7cc per dog, I take the Large Breed Frontline, put it in a jar and pull out what I need in a syringe and apply it.

tick repellant

I have noticed after a couple weeks it seems to be ineffective from the withers up to the head and ears. The first few days it worked great--maybe the ticks have gotten worse. I can't mow or go to the kennel without getting them on me!

ok first of all the locations is between the withers and at the BASE OF THE Tail not tip of tail

secondly im sorry I wasted your $20.00 on the product have no idea why it works for most but not a few others i never get ticks and like i mentioned before its a listed FLEA product that works for ticks ( for most) also its a killer not a repellent

but keep in mind even frontline takes 48 hrs to kill
