PURINA PRO PLAN........a friend of mine suggested it. he raises and trains bird dogs for a living and they are wound up all the time. if u expect the best out of them u need to feed them the best.

So explain to me why, when I was feeding 26/18 to my Bulldogge, she had hot spots & scratched herself raw on her back. The vet told me to feed her crappy food i.e. lower protein & fat, & she got right as rain. Truthfully, I have never had a coonhound get a hot spot, most all my dogs are fed 26/18, except in the winter, then it's 24/20 & I don't have much probelm. My pug gets hot spots from the 26/18 too in the summer.

If you knew how to read you wouldnt be asking me again. Dogs that over heat are over weight... A DOG THAT DOESNT RUN DOESNT NEED A HIGH PROTEIN/FAT DOG FOOD??? thats kind of a no brainer. lol. Theres no reason what so ever that a pug would need that much protein and fat.

you cant compare bird dogs to coon dogs. Purina is by far THE WORST feed i have ever delt with. Over the last two weeks we have had some real bad weather so i havent been able to hunt my dog at all. I started feeding him the purina one and litterally watched him drop weight. Theres so much by product in it that theres hardly nothing for them to digest in it, he was crapin out whole pieces of dog food.

FYI, Bulldogge was NOT overweight & was exercised everyday. She was very muscular. As for the Pug, no I spose not, but she too is a very active dog & muscular & both of these dogs could not take the high protein & fat. Feed them el cheapo food from Wal-Mart & have happy puppy w/much pooo to clean up.

I feed Prism 26/18 & the coonhounds & Scottie do well on it, Pug gets Wal-Mart special & has to be left out twice as much to poo.

I have fed Purina One 26/16 for years both summer and winter without any problems like some of you describe....I think there are other factors that may be causing some of your problems...Parasites,type of kennel your using for housing your hounds, cleanliness of dog yard and house, how often to you bathe your hounds.. I just don't believe dog food alone is causing these problems even the cheap stuff....

i thought the less fat you feed the more saw dust you had
true or false.19/10 19/8 should be enough for any dog this
time of the yr.hot spots problem pencillin and lower % should
work
