Backwater-52 whats wrong with the trackman dogs?

Posted by Wayne Coates on 04-07-2008 03:10 AM:

I have hunted with several out of him that would demolish a cast. They have the tree dog rep, but in the right mans hands alot of them were tough. He crossed well with just about everything. I like the wpeout crosses.

Yes Harry I think we have one of the best crosses ever made on Rat, I Bred her to Pine Ridge Tuff acouple of weeks ago hope she sticks. How are you and jenny doing and what re you planing to breed her to next time? Candy needs 1 more win to make GR Nt, should have been already, my fault not hers. Im also going to breed my Fernie female to Wipeout Speck when she comes in.

Statistics don't lie. How did Sackett Jr. and Rat Attack (father and son) get to be the two highest percentage winning dogs in UKC history? (18-19%) if they were so lousy? Check out the back of Bloodlines for current and historical reproducers. Check out Prohound Magazaine for similar statistics on leading sires. You will see these two names over and over again. If you work at it, you can get lousy dogs when you breed a worthless "blooded" female to a big name stud dog. Otherwise, you keep breeding the best to the best, and eventually you get good dogs. The science of genetics and animal selection is indeed complex, and to criticize a stud dog because you hunted with just a few individuals does not reflect the whole population. These two hounds will go down as two of the all time greatest reproducers in the Treeing Walker breed. There are also many other fine studs and bloodlines out there, and all of them will sometimes throw a dud.

Not sure why this thread is going in another direction, but personally I like dogs out of sackett Jr better than I like the dogs out of Rat...not putting rat down, but its just my preference if I had to choose a pup of either of the two I would own the sacket JR pup everytime, from my experience with both sacket jr pups and rat pups I prefer sacket jr pups I found sackett Jr reproduced a more balanced dog...everyone likes what they like...I have owned many rat dogs/pups and the best generalization that I could make from all my experience is....chop/squeally squawl mouths on track 100bpm tree dogs that are 50-60% accurate...Like i mentioned before I think there are some very nice rat dogs out there!! And then again with the number of pups produced your going to get that.

Not down grading Rat as he is going into the Hall of Fame as one of the greatest reproducers of all time, just giving my perception of his offspring and saying that I like his daddy's offspring better than his.

Another thing that makes him a great stud dog is the name Buzz Lynch....The owner/promoter makes a huge impact in the stud pen.

Just like Trackman...If Kurt didnt sell intrest in track he would never be the stud dog he is today/going to be.

Personally, my favorite stud dog of all time is Logan' Wild Clover I believe him to be the greatest stud dog of all time followed by Sackett Jr. JMO

power

I have a Rat Attack dog. He is known a The Rat Trap. He has been in the winners circle as much as any other dog around. He is a bawl on track and chop on tree. The odd thing is that at a young age he was a little mouthy and chopped. But with age they all settle down. Yours will be fine. Just hunt the hide off of him. Good luck and god bless!

Trap is a Very Nice hound you have sir, I have drawn and been beat by him. For me the crosses that I liked on Rat where the heavy lipper/harry bred bitches...also heavy clover females.
