Yeah, it will work, you just have to lube the container up so the block will come back out of it.
will it not melt the plastic?

Terry, I had the same concern- I thought if it didn't melt the plastic it would at least warp it into some funny shape, but I didn't have any problems with that at all. Just a thought, I also kept a little of the mixture to the side and put it in a muffin pan with just a plain old 3" wood screw sticking up from the bottom, and honestly, I think those were the most convenient and worked the best., but they only last a few days. I also observed over the last few days that rain and warm weather wreak havoc on these things.

I got rained out today so I stopped by Wallyworld and spent almost a 100 before I got out of there. I ruined 2 of my wifes cooking pans, I got that crap All over the Stove top, the Kitchen floor is sticky were the cups Melted and I had to run it to the sink. Im in a heck of a shape and got to go back to Wallyworld get 2 pans and get this mess Cleaned up before the Boss gets off work. I have 1 block.

If by "ruined", you mean you have a sticky black mess all over the pans, don't throw them away! All you have to do is fill them halfway up with water, get it boiling, and dip a toothbrush or dishwahing brush into the boiling water and scrub the crap off the sides of the pan. It will take a little while, but so will a divorce, right? I just went to the dollar store and bought an 8- quart stock pot for $5.99 to cook in.By the way, I found out the hard (and HOT) way, don't add ANY ingredients to the mix while it's cooking, or it will boil over!!! This coon food project is turning me in to freakin' Martha Stewart! Mom would be so proud.

we have used plastic 2 quart from the get-go. works good with sugar and corn syrup. can't keep the molasses from burning on the bottom before hitting 310 degrees

another suggestion, cook outside on your grill. its smells the house up. my wife came home one day and holy ****. you can imagine even with the vent going full blast over the oven. lol

worked
I tried this and it worked good but i put it in a metel bowl and i sprayed it real well with spam. It didn't work. Had to bust my block to get it out. but other than that it worked good. Just had to boil the heck of it to get it hot.
p.s. my old lady just smilied when she did the dishes.
candy
sounds good, has anyone tried the licorice blocks?alot of theseblocks are over priced.

Allright.I tried it today..You talk about a heck of a mess..I made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once I get it to 330 degres. How long do you let it stay at that? Do you add all the stuff together except the vanilla extract to start with? Most of all..How long do yall let it cool before pouring up?????????? Thats what got me..Took it off the eye over to sink and proceeded to pour in my used coon lick bucket..It melted the fire out of that in the sink!!!!! So I had a sink full of black crap LOL......ANYBODY KNOW???????? No more cooking in the house!!

I use a fish cooker and use it OUTSIDE because I add a little molasses to it. When the molasses gets hot and starts smoking you sure don't want to be inside. With his ingredients and the molasses it got as hard as a sucker.
best one i made was packof green kool aid and before u dump the mix in the bucket pour about 3 cups of syrup in coons destroyed it
ok i started this topic on coondawgs.com and it was a trail and ear thing and i got it to work great, now do not use the wifes good pans and do not do this in the house,,,, do not do as i did,,, not good any way i use my now new but used wifes old pan and i use my 20 lb tank and my turky cooker out side or in the barn and all is good. and a tip if your first batch turns out soft and you dont want to cook it any more just take a stick and spread it out on the side of trees coons will still come eat it..

What little I had left today after it melted the bucket in the sink in the house is hard as a brick tonight... LOL....Had to turn the ceiling fan and everything on to get the smoke out!!!!!! Do yall just pour it up at 330 or let it cool off a while..I'm guessing or knowing I tried to pour it up while it was to hot ??? I guess I'll get some metal buckets and do it outside with my already messed up pots lol....I'm adding peanut butter and dogfood to my next batch.. I wonder if I cut the coolaide in half if it will still be alright?
LOL LOL LOL man o man, you feeder bucket boys will try anthing. LOL LOL LOL Now, it appears just plain ole corn or dog food isn't good enough. Yall don't just want 15 easy, fat coons hangin out at your turnouts, yall want at least 40 or 50 coons ripe for the pickens when ya cut em loose. LOL LOL LOL I ain't trying to be hatefull but it's funny. Yall know it is. For grown folks to sit down and come up with a "recipe" to draw coons in so there dogs that either won't hunt or can't track can have an easy coon every night is really amazeing. Don't you ever wonder how much "real" fun it would be to do things right and just tree coons outright instead of baiting em up?

If I had my druthers, the coon would just walk up on my porch, step out of their fur, put it on a stetcher, then take a pistol and shoot themselves, and I'd wake up the next morning to a shelf full of trophies. But wait, I don't shoot coons out, I don't sell fur,I don't have a spot with 15 fat easy coons, and I don't comp. hunt, so what am I hurting? Not everybody has thick coons like I'm SURE you do, that doesn't mean their dogs won't run and tree like I'm SURE yours do, and I'm SURE if someone tells you they have a place to hunt that you REFUSE to hunt there if they have feeders out.

I went to my local CO-OP and bought a cattle lick to try. It is a 200 pound tub. It is mainly molasses mixture. The coons love it, and it looks like it will last about a year.
