sounds like you got alot of experience breaking up dog fights, maybe YOU are the one with the mean. my point is, just cause one ended up on top dont mean he is the mean one or started it.

the

best way to breack up a dog fight and keep from being bitten is grab both dogs by there hind legs and both men walking to the rite, there is even videos out how to to that,,but i learnt to hard way by training protection dogs, that is wat the videos where made for,,like if 2 males get out of kinnel or smothing in that line,,

All I am going to say is about the time anyone kicked or beat any dog of mine.that would be the last dog they ever touched.you people saying you would do that to another persons dog can take my comment to mean anything you like to.I'm sure you can figure out what it means.unless you are dumber then a fence post.

Posted by BRYAN J on 03-17-2008 02:34 AM:

All I will say is I sure hope I never walk in to a tree and see another person beating my dog. Too many variables there that may have provoked a dog to fight or defend.

If there are known mean dogs they shouldn't be allowed to enter any hunt.

Take out the trash and lets hunt!

Well i dont have a dog in this hunt but ill have to say iv been on a few like it,the best way to handle fighting dogs is dont hunt one and dont hunt with one.
I think the handler knows his dog as good as anyone and knows what they are capable of. (Most Honist folks would rather have a good clean hunt with no problems)

If you are going to hunt in the night hunts i,e pkc, ukc, nkc, or what ever you might as well know there are going to be fighting dogs, i used to hunt in a section of woods and there was an old fella that would always come around with his old BLT male called (Rip) " go figure" he would always tell me his dog was mean and if he came to my dog treed he would jump on him, well that was more of an atempt to scare me off i think than anything but, after telling me that, he had to know if his dog came into my dog treed and atacked him i would have had to deal harshly with old Rip !

iv had some good young dogs mest up because of mean dogs so i just dont go with them if i know they are that way.

Dont believe anyone should bringa mean dog to a hunt. But if a fight does happen between dogs that normally wouldnt fight it needs broke up quick. But you get your dog I will get mine. Piecefull guy untill I seen someone kick my dog then we would have 2 unnessesary fights in the woods..

I take care of mine and you take care of yours is how I look at it... I'm not gonna hunt an ill dog and dont like to hunt with anyone that does but I sure dont want mine beat on for defending itself...Like I said before.. You never know what dog starts a fight sometimes..I never thought mine would fight but I saw it once 3 years ago!!! Unless I tell somebody to whoop my dog. They better keep their hands off it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

some of the folks on this thread are the reason the ukc registered cast is the most uninformed and unenjoyable cast members to hunt with.

The sad thing about all this is some people have mean dogs ,they know it but they dont care, even pleasure hunters own them, hunt them with who ever but would never admit their dog would fight or be mean, its just a selfish world we live in
" very very" Selfish
but hey im a big boy and i can take my toys and play in the other sand box

All... or most ill dogs will get caught in the act at some point. Do these idiots that hunt these dogs actually think that they'll get away with it and never get caught? I would be straight up embarrassed if my dog got caught jumping on someone else's.... that alone is reason enough to keep me from hunting a gator.

I agree with what someone said - some dogs just do not get along for one reason or another. Kinda like us... some people just get off on the wrong foot, but hunting a dog you KNOW is ill dog says a lot about your character....

I judged a cast the other nite, we had a bear on the tree the first 3 trees. Couldnt catch him, but on the forth tree he rolled my dog off the side of a hill and rode him to the bottom. When we turned our lights on he was on top of mine, but mine was coming up teeth shining. I scratched both dogs. The moh asked when i turned the card in what dogs got in a fight. When i asked how he knew that, he said that the one dog was an alligator and always gets in a fight but no one ever rights him up. It caused me to get a strike also, but i glad he didnt get away with it. I was winning the cast with the only plus points on the card when it happened.

Posted by ironwood on 03-17-2008 09:43 PM:

if i walk into a tree and my dogs ontop of another dog i know its for a reason, feel free to beat my dog and after that i'll feel free to beat you. Theres no excuse to stomp on another mans dog, let the man do it himself. If you can see yourself in this kind of position, then maybe you shouldnt of been hunting with them in the first place.

Don't count on the guy hunting the ill dog to beat his dog down... he brought the trouble maker and he's probably gonna blame it on your dog. Beating his dog would be like pleading guilty.

As ironic as it is, handlers and dogs are usually pretty close matches. We hunt dogs that are "like us". Think about it for a minute.... having said that, my opinion of the dog's handler would probably determine whether or not I open up a can on his dog. I'll probably catch hell for saying that, but y'all know it's the truth. If you have one guy that's a complete a** from the start, and a fight breaks out with the dogs, you're automatically gonna make his dog the prime suspect.

im a nice guy i think some times, but i didnt used be so nice so to stay nice i had better refrane from hunting with certain types of people and hounds

its so nice to be nice
and i dont like truble

Posted by ironwood on 03-17-2008 10:46 PM:

there are scenarios and circumstances. so your all saying that its acceptable to pound on anothers dog? bluetick girl that was my point about hunting with people you shouldnt be. If i find my dog on another dog im beating it, its the same for anybody i hunt with. maybe people should be more concious on who they hunt with

Posted by Clint Welsh on 03-17-2008 11:26 PM:

There's a difference between beating a dog and doing what you need to do to break up a fight. If I'm hunting with friends I'll correct a dog as I see fit, and would expect my friend to do the same. If I'm hunting with strangers I'd just stop the fight however I have to. As far as putting the boots to someones dog after a fight has stopped, I wouldn't do that. I would expect everyone to handle their own dog accordingly. If you've got a dog that has a habit of being mean I'd hold you responsible for it's actions. Keep your gators home. I understand some dogs just don't get along, that's something handlers need to take care of before it gets out of hand.
