TN HUNTER

With people from Tn looking at this I wish we could get a state assocation started. I have thought about ways this could be done to where each section of the state could be represented what do you all think if enough people are intrested I could post what my ideas are. Then other people could make suggestions as to how to better them.

I know there has to be more....I can think of at least 10 clubs here in the West Tennessee area from the Mississippi River to the Tennessee River and many more from the Tennessee River to Nashville.

Posted by mike bryant on 03-17-2008 03:55 AM:

Here goes

Start out by the states 3 Regions that already exist East, Middle & west (drawing the lines with the county's boarders) meeting bi monthly. Each Region will have its own set of officers with the exception of pres. instead you would have 3 Vice Pres.(2 year terms). They would represent their Region at quarterly meetings of the state board. These meetings could be held in the middle section of the state at an existing club just to help out on the milage for both Easten & Western regions. Each region would have to have at least 100 members to keep there 3 V.P. votes at the state meeting (this could go up as the assocation grows).

Membership dues would be paid to your Region. With half of the membership dues from each member, family going to the state Assocation and half staying in the region(after 1st year). Membership dues $10 Indivdual $20 Family or $0 youth17&under.

Now the reason I think that all this region stuff is needed is just because you all don't know me from adam but if I were elected by the very people I hunt agianst & with and they think I'm trust worthy then you have to think that I should be a trust worthy person.

After 4 meetings(first year only) of the VP board then they would elect officers of Chairman,V Chair. 2 Tres.(not from the same region) Sec. and Reporter (all would have voting rights). Any St. Asso. member can come to any meeting of the VP Board

Why have a Tenn. State Houndsmen Assocation? (1)We need to secure our rights to free cast our hounds. (2) We should keep an amout of money in the State Asso. fund just to fight for the rights of the members (mabey take a look at what KY. does with its hunters rights benefit hunt). (3)The asso. needs to secure their rights by using public Relations to the houndsmens benefit. By helping out in its Region with whatever means is needed thur; benefit hunts or hunting events, cook outs, donating money or what ever the region members deam acceptable. (4)To move major hunting events into the state with communication & support with each region from each region.

Now what I have written is just a small amount of things I have heard that the state and clubs need. We must work together no matter what Registry our club uses. Even the Registry we choose, we are all in this together. Those are my Ideas who else has some feed back. what club is willing to have the first meeting to get the ball rolling.

Good Plan Mike

Mike: I like your plan for a state association. If you remember we tried this a few years ago and didn't get much responce. I think it will be a lot easier now with almost everyone having access to e-mail. Let me know what I can do to help.
