Just to get things straight im not slaughtering coons i take no more then 80 to 90 on a good year where I live right along the river the coons are abundant as far as statements like mine being the reason you wont be able to hunt in the future come on now you may not hunt in the future but im going to hunt aslong as my health will allow If it comes down to breaking the law to do so consider me a convict I hope it doesnt come down to that and I dont see it ever coming down to that.Seems like I said all this yesterday for some reason lol.Oh yeah i did when people was crying about the video.Anyway I cant seem to get my point across so why do I even type all this crap. You see it your way and I see it my way.I cant change the way I hunt to hunt the way you do.Aslong as we have Ducks Unlimeted and The DNR and The Turkey federation and United States Fish and Wildlife, and numerous others then we will be fine from what I gather these people are all for keeping the coon population and other predators at bay its an important part of conservation you may not think it is but it is left if they was left unmanaged the price would be devestating to waterfowl and any other egg laying bird.Anyway I gotta go eat some breakfast I hope that you are able to come to your senses and move away from this hunting is going to be outlawed crap. You may not think that politicians hunt but i can bet you a good number of them do and are all for it.Sure maybe they aint real good with guns (Chaney) but they enjoy it just as much as we do.

Most of the older coon hunters on here that have hunted for 30 years or more have done the same thing. Back in the 70's when hides were worth $25, minimum wage $1.75 and you treed three large boar coon in the same tree, how many of you one coon guys left two of them setting? I had an old gyp that would let you know if there was more than one coon in the tree. She would chew on the first one knocked out and go back to treeing if there was more than one. She had the kill porgram figured out. Today, I leave a lot more coon than I ever knock out. I strickly hunt for the enjoyment and my hounds. For the hunters that never show there hounds a coon keep up the good work. That will leave more for my hounds to tree, thanks.

sorry for you people that only have 1 coon every 900 miles may have something to do with you not taking care of the population distemper perhaps.

Reasons we only have slightly more than 1 coon per 900 miles...

1) No agricultural food sources.
2) Mostly public land (high hunting pressure)
3) High # of coonhunters per capita
4) Been coon hunted by houndsmen since early/mid 1700s
5) Wannabes whose daddys' never taught them any better and who take up hunting for a couple of years to show how big a "redneck" they are only to get out of the sport shortly thereafter and who have itchy trigger fingers and shortcomings to compensate for shooting more than one coon out of a tree on the rare occasion that their dogs actually tree and have the meat LOL!!

But it dang sure ain't from overcrowding leading to distember ROFL!!

Don't get your feathers ruffled boys... If you are hunting a farmers land in the midwest somewhere that coons are thicker than crap and the farmer wants em gone...have at it if you want...but around here shooting more than one coon out of a tree is a major no-no and you better hope the older, wiser, coonhunters in the community don't find it out lol.

Just one of those regional differences.

I only ever shot 4 coon out of one tree when I was young and stupid. Thank God I have grown up. I have shot doubles out before. As I get older I realize that even though I live in the land of Milk and Honey as far as coon go, it does not give me the right as a conservationist, to deplete a species. Let some of them grow to run again or produce the next round of midnight runners.

My brother and I used to kill 300+ coon a year when we were younger, and hunted more. Now we don't hunt as much as we used to but we still don't kill every coon we tree.

Growing up has its benefits, at least it offers them. You learn to be a bit smarter. Whether you take and use what you have learned is up to you.

Im not a member of anything I do my own thing we dont have a bag limit here in Illinois I paid for the hunting license and the bullets so what would give you the right to tell me how many coons I can shoot.Yes I am in the midwest thats what I been trying to say where I am at the coon population is good the food sources are good hasnt had much hunting in the past 15 years I am the only coon hunter in my small town of 90 people the town sits in the middle of some of the best hunting ground Illinois has to offer right along the river and on the other side of the river is a wildlife refuge.

Just so that everyone knows this is garys wife.......I may be stepping on some toes but I thought that this was all about how Gary had a HAPPY customer with him training this dog and it has went all the wrong way. I hope that you all can come out of the dark and realize that there are good things going on in the world and we do not need to talk about all the bad... Thank you Garys wife.

Yeah tell Gary, sorry for helping to hijack his thread. This other fella decided what he had to say was more important and we all kinda went along.

Sounds like Gary did a good job, and should be proud.
