what if they are a good layup dog it would be hard to scratch them for it

Schaffer, that is the hole point I was making. If they are the only dog on that tree you have no reference from other dogs if that track was on the ground or laid up.

Not very many negative replies
Rule as written must be working

Doug, I think Kellam made it official that at this point in time, it is a judges decision. My take on it is that if the cast vote fails to overturn the judges decision, then the MOH is suppose to back the judge.

thanks JIM I didn't see it posted ---I think that is one rule that should be ADDRESS in the next rules meeting --

I think this rule should be taken out of UKC hunts like it is in PKC and AKC. If some one can't beat me while i'm hunting a silent mouth hound, when there striking for 100, 75, or 50 and i'm always getting 25 they need to check the end of there leash. I mean do the math if I get 25 strike and 125 tree on 2 coon i've got 300. If a good strike dog has 100 strike and 125 on 2 coon, he's got 450. So the only way I usually win cast is by treeing 1 more coon than the rest of the dogs in the cast and I don't think I should be scratched for that for having a smart dog that knows if he keeps his mouth shut he'll tree more coon

I agree with you --but as a rule in the night hunt rules the MOH has to deal with when it comes back in on a score card as a ?--and as it is worded now it creates a real problem some times
