Here is the girls with there first raccons. My son thought he was to tired for the picture. Were thinking he is to much of a wimp to stay out past his 8 pm bed time.

We used to kill 10-15 on opening night and hunt all night. I could get used to this couple hours of good dog work and back in bed!

Look's like some nice size coon Chad. We made just a couple of drop's with some guy's in Iowa last night. 3 tree's, 1 den, and saw 3 coon. I had Jayce along and when we quit hunting at 9:30. he wanted to make another drop. LOL He was mad when I said were headed back and he told me when we get back he was taking his dog and going by himself. LOL Well half way back he was sleeping. LOL.

If we can go every night and tree 3-4 times and have a coon or 4 the kids are more then ready to head for home. This old dog we were hunting last night thought he had had enough also.

The game warden told us last night that they have to catch you helping in the hunt. If you are taging along with no dog or gun they can't do nothing to you. They chaced us down with there air plane. They were out in full force.

We didnt run into any DNR but I did run into 2 different groups of hunters..only the second time I have ever ran into anybody here!! my dog got treed about a mile away and by the time i got up they way there wasaa truck parked on the road and 3 lights started coming back out and they said "your dogs treed back there" and that they were picking mine up on their tracker?? It definatley was not a good 1st night for me.

As many lights as I seen flashing around in the woods last night its to bad the dnr wasnt up here. Had another great short but sweet hunt tonight.

It is funny you can hunt 5 nights a week all year long and don't see anyone. Then opening night can't find a place to hunt.

laws

If I remember correct in a registered hunt or Nite hunt you do not need a lisence and I believe that even if you're out with a hide hunter you can tag along as long as you dont have a gun, dont handle a dog, and dont shine the tree. Anyone in Iowa under the age of 12 or 14 does not need a lisence unless deer or turkey hunting they need a youth tag.

Anyone thats is aiding in the hunt in Iowa needs a license, Wether they are 6 or 66. They sell a license for I think it was $6 for the kids. If they are shining or leading dogs or anything your warden thinks.
