-- When You Think Of A Good Breeder..... (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=158317)
John Davis
Walkers
James Turpin in Waco Ky,one of the best Breeders in the Country, Hardly ever talked about. He was breeding nice hounds a Long time before Insane Jane, and is still breeding them now. I dont think he really cares for a bunch of Publicity though.

i have seen and hunted with some outstanding walker hounds out of Tony Ray's Roanoke River Kennels in NC. matter of fact i believe that some of the hounds that have come out of Hammer have converted some other breed fanciers to his line of Walker hounds. and to top off the dogs, Tony is one of the nicest people around. he always has time to talk to you and he is not pushy at all.
as far as the Redbone breed goes there are a couple of men in southwestern Virginia that are putting Redbones on the map and they are breeding some nice COON dogs also. They are Buck Ratliff and Pastor Mike Laster, two of the nicest people you will ever meet.

For B&T, I always think of the same 3.
Blaze Bauer
John Davis (JohnD on here)
Bill Sheinker
Bluetick= Toney Foley or Bill Smitka
Walker= Jess Dickerson has bred as many good ones as anyone.
English:
John Ferrari
Ron Thompson
Jay Thomas ( always seems to get left out for some reason)
Jim Ridge
David Minson
When it comes to English, those 5 listed are responsible for about 90% of the blood thats winning right now.
Then there are some good solid local English lines like:
Darrol Burrows (Grand lake)
And a few old timers who are still around like:
Kelly Stagner (Platte Valley)
Bud Keller (Kellers Mike and Kellers Queen)

Please don't forget Frank Geddings in Michigan, most of the mentioned breeders are using his bloodlines to promote themselves. Today you will find the Sackett line of walkers in almost every bloodlines offered today.
Also, credit should be given where these dogs came from, Wildman Meeks in Carolina.
Let's see some fresh blood , most of the people mentioned on this thread have already been wrote up a few times already.
John D gets my vote as well , getting him a little recognition would help show other breeders coming up in the ranks that new blood can break into the scene.

The reason I hunt this bloodlines is a quote an old friend gave me,"Your either making dust or your eating it."
I would like to see an article done on Winston Aron or Buddy Mobley. Both have done an outstanding job with the Skuna River line of hounds.

Since I know black dogs, Here is who I would vote for.
John Davis - missouri
Mark Reed - Iowa
John and Mark both have some real fine females and raise a couple of litters a year.
Wimp Aaron or Winston
is a good un. He has been with the same stock of dogs for probably 40 years. Lonnie Mears is another one. I've seen some great ones come from both places. I have seen them pick pups and send them to buyers and them be some of the best these guys had ever owned. They didn't get to pick them out. That's a great breeder.
Breeder
Dave Dean of the Northern Blue Kennels , the Hammer !
Erwin Massengill NEUSE RIVER ENGLISH
B&T = YEARS AND YEARS OF THE SOWDER LINE FROM MR. DALE SOWDER.
SCOTT.
English
Ever since I was a little kid, most anytime I hunted with a Nice English dog around here, and ask about the Bloodline, the answer was the same, "its Gayle Flowers Stock".

I would also have to say Jim (WILDMAN) Meeks cause that is where alot of dogs started from YADKIN RIVER!!! Rat Attack,SackettJ.R.,Nailor,Tar Rattler and the list will go on and on and on!!!!

Top Breeder
For the plott breed,Pete Bentley,Orville Mansholt,Bill Reddick
Todd,
I may have over looked this name somewhere. This doesn't happen to be my breed of choice however Carter Long has consistantly produced top hounds in the english breed. All you have to do is look in the top reproducers list since its inception he has always had a dog in the standings. I'm sure there are plenty of english men who will agree.
Thanks,
Chris St.John
Todd kellam
It would be Carter Long. He has had good blood female that the pups carry on the winning way for coondogs. His dogs and pups stay in the top winners circle. His pups and females are top reproducers.
