Theres no accounting for taste......
Dogs are dogs, most are nothing special....But putting a full color add in a magazine sure makes them seem larger than life.
Personally, I have no interest in selling pups, dogs, studding or promoting.....I really dont know why anyone would invite headach like that....But again...
Theres no accounting for taste.
There are only 2 reasons I can think of.
#1 is money. They can sell more pups for more money if they're out of a big name stud dog.
#2 is jelousy. They just go out looking for something to bring home and beat the local dogs , no matter how good they are.
I guess there could be one more reason. They just don't like them for some reason or another. I've hunted with a few dogs over the years that would tree coons alright , but just didn't suit me. But , to the owners , they were the best thing in the world.

Just all 'round , meat gettin' hounds.
Brogy, We're a "trendy" civilization. We want the "latest thing" and/or what's "hot". Look at the CARHART label. In years past these were ust clothes that served a purpose. Now-a-days they have become "trendy". Also WICK label has become "the thing", when other hunting gear serves the same thing, some will have to have the WICK label on them at least 6 times when going hunting.
In the same vein,SS.perf.pup, "all grand" is a must. No conversation can be had about a dog that came from "just up the holler" a ways. It's all about VANITY and RECOGNITION. Both are much easier to buy than to accomplish, even though it may be "short lived".
Something else about the dogs way off. All you here is the good. No one comes on and shows how a high powered dog got beat but they will blow it up when they win. All dogs make mistakes and like us humans have off nights. Well who sees those off nights??????LOCALS!!!!!!!! and then that is what they remember. They don't remember when your dog scored 600 and was first and first all night while thiers treed a oppussum but when he had that off night. That is the talk. And those in the book.....Owned by the big money guys........They never have an off night......They win every cast.....and they never, never miss a coon!!!!!!!!!!
The instilled thought of man no matter what it is whether it is dogs, horses or anything the best are three states away...........Yea Right!!!!!!!!
THey are all just animals.....and there is not a perfect one out there!

LOL! I'm one of those guys that usually has the WICK label all over me when I'm out there! I wear it because it is the best coonhunting apparel out there, but if I found something cheaper, just as good, and local... then I guess I'd give it a try.
Because ignorence is bliss and if you are breeding to a dog you have never hunted with, it is easy to be blow away by talk, photos, and titles.
Ya know, its kinda like girls and guys for that matter. Until you get old enough to know better, each new face seems like the perfect one with perfect looks, perfect body, no baggage, no problems, and no headaches. IT takes a while to realize (and some never do) that they all come with all of the above and MOST of the time you are just as good off with what you got than trying something new and different.
ITs the grass is greener syndrome and the thrill of the hunt for and ideal that in the real world just doesn't exist.

In the last 6 mo. I made two trips. One all the way down into Iowa and the second one to Worthington to pick up pups. He met me half way. One out of Buck Creek Mr. Smith and another one out of Chic's Wild Style both out of real good females. Why? Cause a friend of mine gave them to me. Can't beat that. Otherwise local dogs are good enough for me. In every area I believe there are Stud dogs and pups as good as any you can find. Usually your local dogs have the characteristics that work best in your local area. For instance where I live and hunt need dogs with more hair to stand the cold and harsh conditions we have. Most local breeders that have established a line in this area try to produce dogs with more hair etc. JMO
P.S. Both females I picked up have lots of hair.
