John..

I noticed in your pic that you are using red cedar? shavings. I was told that red cedar had something in it that would kill the puppies. (because they couldn't hold their head up out of it.) Must be a wives tale, huh??

I hope so.

Dang, if I wasn't so computer illiterate I could get the pictures to open up and see your pups.

Congratulations on your pups John. Looks like my gyp didn't settle again. Should have been due around the 16th of November & she is not showing any signs that she is breed. Hope you keep us updated with pics of the pups.

She does look like a ticked up Walker, but is too fast on track to be a Walker.

Is that the way she trees most of the time. I love that tree style.

She trees that way a lot of the time. If she has been treed a while she will usually be setting down when you get to her.

Here is a picture of my wife with some of the pups I took today.

Chopper II

Sure looks good in that picture. She has better ears than the ole gal I had. That Ranger blood sure is loud and intense at the tree wish I still had her, but old age will get em all some day..

LOL... I always chuckle when you call her Chopper II.

Jewel is a good solid tree dog, but really her best trait is her ability to take a bad track and drift it through the country and get it treed. She has a whale of a nose, but doesn't bog down and waller a coon track. She hustles.

The dog I bred her to is a good track dog, but is also a layup artist. Jewel doesn't tree layups to speak of.

I hope I get some pups with a combination of their mama's nose and track hustling ability, and their daddy's winding and locating savvy.

I don't really know, Wayne.

Several people would like to have one, but you know how it goes. Things happen sometimes between the wanting and the getting. I have been there myself.

I'd like to see one go up in that country and run those mountain coon you all have.

yep

I know what you mean. They say there is a housing slump but you would never know it around here. So much of my hunting ground has been lost here that I'm really getting fed up with it all. Harder to turn a dog loose every day. Can't risk a go yonder type around here, thats for sure.

I don't think you would get along with one of these then.

You could probably train one to hunt close with a shock collar though.

Mike, I haven't even checked that.

I'll try and check them later today.

There are seven left. I hope she raises them all.

I

can travel out to get into big timber.. Then your stepping on some other coonhunters turf... Plus my boy has school so travel time becomes an issue.. Gets real hard to be a coonhunter these days..

already got a place fixed up for mine...there still seven?

Adorable fat little pups! Love the look Mom's giving the camera...

BTW-- about the cedar chips, it is poisonous if ingested. Don't think you'd have to worry about real young pups on it as much as when they get a bit older and start chewing. Great to keep fleas out though, as long as they don't eat it.
