boomer dogs

I've got an old male dog, just turned 10, grand pup to boomer on top and good news gold brook on the bottom. He only needs 2 more wins for grand show. We recently purchased dual grand buck creek sty, 9 year old female, to breed to him. Really old blood in these pups. 4 gen should read names such as kr rowdy, kr boomer, flatwoods southern rock, buck creek hammer mac, buck creek hammer, house's lipper, etc. should be some good looking hard hunting tree dogs. we're really excited about these pups. thanks for reading. Thanks to whomever brought this post back to the top. I own a female off of Butcher and Babe that is one of the finest looking Walker dogs this world has ever seen, in my personal opinion. I enjoyed reading more about some of the dogs in her pedigree.

This is Stormy. She's top notch, and I don't waste her at anything small. My plans for her as of right now are to breed her to my male dog off of Doc Holiday when she comes in again for the first time next year. The old blood in the two pedigrees combined will make a cross unlike anything that is seen much these days. Flying Hawk, Mundar, Rowdy, Roller, Boomer, and Lil' Rebel all up close. To say I'm excited is an understatement. Neither Stormy nor Junior are bred to be "just show dogs." I'm blessed to have them both. They will never leave my house.

Stormy on the right, Junior (her future man friend) on the left

Stormy's face looks a lot like Nancy from the front! Funny, she will chew stuff up too if she gets a chance. I left a jacket laying near her crate once, and she sucked in the sleeve and took the velcro off of it LOL. Her previous owners told me she'd climb, too, but I've never had her try. Of course, she's very high energy so I try to give her turnout time twice a day to wear her out.

Thank you Mr. Stevenson! Rebel is an old favorite of mine. My Junior looks a lot like his sire, Doc. Mr. Kirkland has told me that when he had Junior as a young dog, he was doing a nice job treeing coon down in OK. I've hunted him a couple times myself, and he will tree a coon but I think he may have had a bad experience as far as hunting goes sometime before I got him...he also seems to be burnt out on bench work, which is why I haven't shown him much. He is such a sweet dog that I'm happy just to have him around, and hopefully he will throw some nice puppies for me off my females.

I would love to see a picture of Bacall as well, as I also own a Bacall granddaughter that I like as much as Stormy.

a lot of the hunt has been bred down

in several of the so called "show dog" lines...I am going to breed it back In. there are some nice finley river dogs and some sackett jr in behind some of these show lines, but you can breed the hunt out after a few generations. It is like any line. You can have lazy dogs even in the hunting side of it and if you dont breed some fire into it somewhere, you keep getting the same thing.

If the good Lord is willing, I hope to be making one of these crosses real soon. cant say yet on it cause nothing has been finalized yet. Hope to know more this coming weekend.

My goal always has been to win the world hunt and show with the same dog. I believe it can be done and I wont quit trying till I stop breathing. I will have some of my hounds at the Winter Classic in Batesville, Ms in Jan.
This is only 15 minutes from me, so you know I am pumped.
I am going to try and have a booth or breeding stall or however they work it so please drop in and holler at me and lets talking breeding.

I have been breeding these dual purpose hounds of mine for over 30 years. I hope to try and put together a breeding book by then to sell on my hounds and how and why I breed like I do.
My hounds have always been smart, easy to train, loud, and sho nuff good looking. I breed for perfection with each cross.

I am shooting for a hound that both the coonhunter and showman will want in one hound. I have shown every coondog I have owned during these 30 years and have done well in competition, pleasure hunting and showing.

I hope to add a big ole dose of some of these hounds we have been discussing into my line soon.

stay tuned for details next week.

I agree with your thinking! With "Spring Creek" coming up now with our cross and in the very near future with in our plans, we should have some "Old Blood" to breed to very soon. Kentucky River Mundar (RowdyXRain) has some females lined up for next year already. I think that breeding for the future of the sport and not just beause you have a dog in the pen is the way to go. Good Lord willing, we will soon have another grandpup to Spring Creek Rock and can outcross on some of these females as well. They need to go into hands that will hunt AND show them tho!

Keep us informed! Can't wait to hear!

where is the spring creek rock

part coming from to add back into your line coming from?

I had a night champion son of Dual grand Morgans tree jammin mundar who placed in the world hunt and was the sire of the mundar line of show dogs. I got him when he was 4 and kept him till he died. He threw some some of the nicest dogs you could want. they were good looking and coondogs.
I lost the last cross from him on my bloodline and never got it back. Thats why I am planning on putting it back in.
He threw dual purpose hounds for sure.

mundar 6 months to the day by doug bowers1951, on Flickr

Kentucky River Mundar (Kentucky River RowdyXSouthfork's September Rain) 6 months to the day when this was taken. My heart and soul in that pic!

When he matures he will be outstanding!
Mundar Rick, Rowdy, Spring Creek Radar, Jammin Mundar, Flying Hawk, Flying Angel, Herns Red Eagle Dick, Gold Creek Mundo

We have semen off Oak Run Radar that we will cross on one of Mundar's sisters and have a deal on a Spring Creek Rock grandpup from that. There's semen out there. Just really hard to find. Good luck to you all doing what you love to do!

cleo...got that dog that goes back

to butcher...gonna get some better pics of him here soon. trying to get him settled in before I start benching him and hunting him. Gonna take him huntin this weekend. He is a world caliber show dog. Anybody wanting to breed to a super nice hound, get in touch with me. I was told he runs and trees. He has a big old mouth. He is tight built and is a very good mannered dog. really taking up with me and my wife. We are going to give um fits at the mississippi state show and the winter classic.
I hope to breed him to my main female next spring.
sure would like to see some folks breed some nice good looking females to him.
He is a half bro. to World champion Queen of Diamonds and his momma is out of Good news Maverick. A winner is in own right. This makes him a Grand daughter to grand father cross.
Those of you who know this pedigree can see this throws old Dual Grand Boomer and Dual Grand Kentucky River Rowdy 4 times up fairly close.

couldnt get the pedigree to cut and

past...Ill try and get it on here in a day or so.
He is out of Good news lucky jack by a Maverick female. Maverick was out of Lucky Jack as well. He has Butcher back there in the 3rd gen as well.

They go back to Nitro, sackett jr, Dual grand Finley River Zoom and dual grand fosters squaw, sackett jr as well, so there is some coonhunting dog power behind him as well.
I believe he will also thow them big game dogs like some of his background dogs were.

Has a big flat head that you can sit a tea pitcher on. has a great muzzle and lots of color.

what she means is "small" as in local

shows....that means she is a national level dog. She only shows as bigger shows like world, autumn oaks, winter classic etc.

Good luck with him!

We don't "hold" our hounds for years to finish them out. Some prefer to tho. That's their opinion. There's plenty of large shows in one year to finish a nice hound to Grand with nice wins to add to the hounds "score card". Its our opinion to show them then hunt them. The larger shows are a joke anyway. Most of the political bs is seen just as soon as you pull in the parking lot.

good looking dog. I had one when I was a young man that had Mundar , gold creek and a bunch more you mentioned . I traded a new fangled plastic 22 only been shot 6 times, a 6 volt Nite Lite, a puppy of my no acount breeding, and a hundred dollar bill for him. He started young and was a deer chaser. I caught him in the act and he was so hard headed I even could not straighten him out. That's very unusual if I get my hands on one in the act of deer chasing, for I am a mind changer. I Traded him to my uncle who was a died in the wool deer dog chaser, for 50 feet of extra heavy duty chain link fence I stiill believe he stole off a jawb site. Mundar Rick, Rowdy, Spring Creek Radar, Jammin Mundar, Flying Hawk, Flying Angel, Herns Red Eagle Dick, Gold Creek Mundo. ETC. My old Uncle was proud of him for a deer chaser. We'd talk about him every week after church. Directly, my old uncle would not talk to me. Seems the pup had got tired of chasing deer and started to treeing coons in the middle of the drive in the mid day. He looked at me like he hated my guts for trading him out of that stole role of chain link fence. Then, of all things , he told me he gave his ass to a "coon hunter". I don't to this day know which side of my Family is the stupidest Moran. Anyway, The dog would have been dead ten times over by now but I still have my main dogs in that extra heavy duty chainlink fence wire forty years later , so I recon I got the better end of the deal in the long run.. LOL.

Little shows do have TONS OF WORTH! IM THE BIGGEST PROMOTER OF OUR LOCAL SHOWS IN SC! What I mean is if you have what is considered to be a national level hound then the larger event is where you want to show to compete with a more level playing field.

You wouldn't pull Dale Jr out on a Nascar Sun to watch him run on a mud track.

You are on this board enough to know what Jessica meant. Not need to start crap with those who show or how the show. We do what we do.

Couldn't find anyone else to argue with on that day, I suppose? Yes, I do mean that I only show her at a certain level of event. Several reasons behind it. First of all, would it really be fair for me to bring national level dogs to a local event? That's not something I make a practice of doing, because quite frankly I don't feel like I've accomplished anything winning over folks that maybe haven't had as much practice as I have showing a dog, or that may be there showing their hunting dogs for fun (or maybe their kids/spouse are). That would just make me feel like a witch, and I feel like it discourages people that are new or still learning. Not to mention, even if I take a dog I just hunt to a local event, SOMEONE ends up making smart remarks because apparently a dog acting like it has some sense on the bench automatically makes it a "show dog" and it's suddenly not fair if I win that day. I don't begrudge anyone that wants to show on a local level. It's just my choice to only show my hunting dogs there, and handle dogs for other folks if they don't want to do it themselves for whatever reason or help them out if they ask. That's entirely my own personal feelings, based on experiences I've had over the years. Maybe it's not the same for everyone, and if so then that's great!

Thanks Cleo. I hope you have a safe trip this week.

I don't necessarily "hold" mine so much as I'm picky about which events I take them to. That's just my personal preference, and what makes doing it "satisfying" to me I guess. I'm happy with the wins I've put on my dogs thus far though. I don't think there's ANYTHING wrong with how much or how little (or where) people show their dogs, as long as they're having fun doing it! I do wish I had the leisure of being able to take more time off work to travel to more events, but the nature of my job makes it hard to do it often. I hope in years to come that won't always be the case. I definitely haven't been able to show nearly as much as I'd like this year...seems like when you have the money and dogs you really want to get out, that's when you have the least time!

Good luck with your new dog Mr. Stevenson. I'd love to see a photo of him. The same cross Stormy was out of was made a second time, but I don't know the whereabouts of any of the pups. They'd probably be about 3 years old now.

I think the Lipper blood that is in the show dogs of today has helped. I also have a lil bit of Candy blood and have no problem w/ it.

We are going to add Lipper blood into our kennel to cross with Mundar. Bought a female off of Dr Law. Black headed and a head full of sence. This cross should boost the woods and the show ring up!
