picked up a 6 month old logan pup the other day took her walkinfor the first time she treed a sq. where did she learn this? never been to the woods! have turned 2 coons loose and waited 15 mins and she ran and treed them 200yrds away. took her hunting the other night and she followed us to the tree and started treeing when we got there, then last night she ran and treed with my other dog. the boy that was hunting her said that she might have got there first. anyways it was close! this all happened this week after i got her. very impressed with logan when i hunted with him and a male pup out of him. and very impressed with the gyp i got. rick we need to go want to know what you think about her, i think you will like her to.

I've not hunted with Logan but I have friends that have. They say he is a nice hound and I know Rick knows what a nice hound is. Congratulations on acquiring the pup.

Logan

Logan was from a cross of Newton and Lady. 3/4 Uchtman bred and 1/4 jet (jet V x Sioux Valley Fly II). Many top hounds in this cross male and female. I hunted with Logan and Zeb in the Ozarks of MO. with Gary when Zeb was a young NiteCh and Logan was 11 months old. I was impressed with Logan and told Gary that if he ever wanted to part with him to give me a shot. Later on I worked out a deal with Gary for a GrNitech female and we got Logan. He was an open registered dog and we made him a NiteCh that first year we hunted him. Scott Shaw put a first on him and I put a first and another place on him.
Now many would question if Logan is such a nice dog why is he not a GrNitech? Logan would tree alone or in company with no problems or blowing. He then ran into a year where lets say he ran into a couple of Salty dogs and he got sick of taking it. He has a 4"scar on the back of his neck from an incident many years ago. He has been jumped when he has been on the leash. And been jumped from behind on the tree more than once. He is not the type to leave the tree like Old Uncle Pen was when there is trouble. Logan has three wins to GrNite and we may or may not try to finish him. One thing is for sure. He will reproduce and I hope we never get a run on him for stud service as there are alot more pups out there than hunters.
The guys that have his pups have been doing a great job with them and I look forward to a couple more years of impressive stories on what they can do at a young age.

Scott

I sure wish I lived closer so I could go hunting with Logan. I think I am going to keep my Logan pup out of the hunts this year for some of the reasons you listed above. I may try to put him into a couple hunts at the end of the year or any RQE event around here close.

Abe

Rick had a good story. The other night someone came over and wanted to see him go so he took Logan and he treed 2 of them in 13 minutes.
Then Rick took his young male that is a brother to Lostcreekhounds female and he treed one way deep in a swamp and Rick could not get to him. He could get far enough in to see that he had the coon but the swamp was too deep. The young male stayed for at least 6 hours before he picked him up from a guy that called him on the other side of the swamp.

Sounds to me like blue has alot of the same qualities of Logan and Cami and you should be proud of him.

The hunts are what they are. I like em for the good dogwork you see and can hunt with some darn good guys. I hate em for some of the guys and dogs that are in the hunts but life is the same way. You got to take them for what they are and don't get too high or too low.

shine

Took her out by herself about a week and a half ago when the weather wasnt so bad. She has a very cold nose and can hit a track most other dogs blow by. First dump she went in and was treed on a big tree pile. Second dump she treed a huge den, third dump she moved a old track about 700 yards and treed another big den, and the forth dump she finally hit a hot track and smoked it for about a half mile and had the coon up a little 20 foot tree. she is all coondog and i am looking forward to putting her in the hunts this year and finishing her out.

Joe Moyers Female

Joe Moyer from West Plains Mo. wrote me a letter a couple of years ago and included this picture. This pup was out of Logan and a full sister to Big TIme Albert. I have heard many people comment on this females ability to get real live coon treed and hold pressure. (this was a squirrel)

I really like her a lot she is as clean a dog as I've ever owned an a real pleasure to hunt. Shell be buried her someday. Hopefully not for a while. I think that cross is about to be made again. Gary had told me that you had a mate to her that got killed on the road. That was a shame. Maybe you'll have just what your looking for in the amous and magic pup.

On the right is Dog Gun it MO Blueberry Short Kate 18 mo. old.......Next to Herbie you see why I called her short Kate. Kate is from Gary's Kennel out of Again and Dixie (Zeb X GRNT Magies whistlin Dixie). Kate is just starting, she's coming on quick; excellent nose and hard tree dog.

This pair of young females puts a smile on my face.

. . Hans I think herbie would work real good down here in Ky. All though I would have to change her name! I'm glad to see she's doing good for you. She sure does look good. Hope to see you at Ashland.

Hey Herbie,

I see no reason that a hound cant have the same name as it's owner. In fact, I was thinking of naming one Hans so hopefully I wouldnt forget it's name.
I would like to go to Ashland this year but with the price of gas and all we'll see. I have a pair of littermate males out of my old GrNt that I need to sell one. That might get me there if I find a buyer. I dont need them both. If I go I'll let you know so I can look you up.

Hey Herbie,

Here's the Ped

----GRNtCHCH Uchtmans Blue Albert
---Chetams Ace
----Uchtmas Blue Pebbles (Ranger IV x Coney River Blue Rose)
-GrNtCHCH Indiana Blue Hoss
----GRNtChCh Northern Blue Levi
-Cheathams Blue Julie
----Heavenly Blue Hope (Blue Lead)

males (11/30/2010)

----Grch creekbottom blue buddy (siedlings Blue Jazz X Bizich's Dryfork Pumpkin)
---NtCh Grch One eyed medicine man
----Grch Tully's Rockhill Squaw (Uchtmans BillX Jackie)
-GRCH One Medicine girl Sassy
----GrNtChGrCh Sampsons Diamond Rock (Sampson X Sis)
---NtCh GrCH Houts Firehouse blue sexy Lady
----GrCH wills creek Stinging Sadie (Levi's Northern Blue Sting X Browns Blue Hooker)

The mother Sassy was medium nosed, average mouth, hunted 600 yrds by herself, very very independant, solid tree dog.
Some Blue hunters bad mouth Medicine man but he goes back to Rebel every way you look at it.

These males have only been out a couple times each. They are gone when you turn them loose and act very independent. Over the next couple of weeks i'm going to get them out more so I can pick the one I wanna keep. They are both big males with good mouths. There's a littermate female to them nearby that's doing it.

With my old male still alive I wanted to get some females going good first to see If they were worthy to breed to him. These males been on the back burner.

I'll give you a pup out of Hoss and Herbie if it works out. I know it will get hunted.
