I am thoroughly liking mine!!! She aint runnin junk and she always has the coon...I feel like I could put her in a hunt and place right now. She will be a year old in a few weeks. Ran and treed the first night she was ever in the woods!!!
Joe says he is going to breed her mother to his Patch dog when she comes in heat...looks like to me you'd a figured it out by now Joe!!!!LOL

Joe, too bad you couldn't make it down...you should have seen her go last night...first track she sounded like she was treed way up further than the Walker. We go into his tree and she is there completely up inside a big sinkhole in the bank. I had to go in and pull her out. Second track they treed up a big poplar and we saw that one. Third track she took deep and we didn't see him, the walker split treed back down in the bottom. Fourth track we thought she was trying to go back to the big sinkhole but treed two up the same draw. So we knocked one out and called it a night. I couldn't get a good picture...she was so worried about the coon she wouldn't look at the camera!!!

she's looking good, sounds like you all had a lot of fun. Being sick is the pits.

How do you like that light (Torch pro color) you have, my wife ordered me one for Christmas.

Posted by msinc on 12-22-2014 11:05 AM:

That's actually my buddy Mike. He must like it because he seems to use it a lot. I think he said he prefers the soft cap over a hard bump cap. He has a Sunfire but it's not the HD and if I remember right it's also not on a soft cap so that might have something to do with it. I have the Sunfire HD with an amber light and really like it. It is way brighter than it needs to be. I think if you had one you would be real happy with it.
She struggled with that last track but finally got it worked out. That was probably the first time she ever had to deal with two coons at once. She has a lot of determination and when she gets unsnapped it's nose to the ground the whole time and she is all business...unusual for 11 months old!!! If you saw her hunt and didn't know how old she was you would probably think she was 3 or 4.
I'll keep you posted. After he saw her go, Mike offered to handle her in few hunts for me if I needed him to.

Posted by Jvogat on 12-23-2014 01:58 AM:

Martin Ok

I like that Torch pro color light the diffuser cap makes it nice for walking.

Posted by msinc on 12-23-2014 02:37 AM:

It is definitely a nice light. They are big but not really very heavy at all. One really good thing I like about it is that with the diffuser on it wont blind out someone in the cast if accidentally shined as bad as some others will. I have trouble with my Sunfire that way because it is so bright. After shining the tree if I forget and leave it on high {which is just about every time} somebody always gets flashed and they stand there and blink for 5 minutes before we can move. I want to say that he didn't have trouble getting chased by hornets this summer either but the Sunfire drew every one in the woods to me!!!
Chompin' at the bit to get that girl back in the woods, but the weather is just not gonna let it happen till after X-mas. I'll keep you posted.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas

Just getting over the flu sickness. looking forward to getting back to the woods today.

Happy New Year to all.

Posted by msinc on 12-31-2014 02:21 AM:

Joe, I was up near your way today...picked up a metal lathe from a guy selling out. Wish I could have stopped but I ended up having to spend way more time there than I ever thought. The dude didn't sound like it over the phone but when I got there he was like in his 90's. About half senile and he wanted to keep going over what accessories I was buying with it. Of course there was the usual accident and they were hauling 150 ft long bridge I beams down 95 about 30 MPH...killed my hunt tonight. I just got home a few minutes ago. Happy New Year fellas!!!!

sounds like you had fun lol. Went hunting last night with Patch he treed 4 up one tree. One coon on the inside was looking out and there was 3 on the outside. must have been a female they were after.

Happy New Year

Posted by msinc on 12-31-2014 05:15 PM:

Wow!!! And you think the hunting is better down here????

Posted by Jvogat on 01-03-2015 02:34 PM:

MARTIN

That's four coons for the entire woods. I know the hunting is better over your way, its always better when you go somewhere else. Lol. Joe

Posted by msinc on 01-03-2015 03:44 PM:

Yeah, that's the same way with buying a pup...it always seems like they have to be better in another state....until you get them home. Ever notice, the further away and the more it cost to get them here the better we tell everyone they are???

Martin

this weather stinks every time I get off work it rains.

Posted by msinc on 01-04-2015 05:08 PM:

We went anyway last night...when it slowed down they managed to tree two. Just as we were coming out of the woods I think coyotes chased the male dog. I got the little girl and put her in the truck. The male went 650 yards on the Garmin and wouldn't come in...at first I thought his collar somehow came off. He never made a bark. He refused to come in even when I toned him. We walked all the way back to where the Garmin said he was expecting to find just the collar laying on the ground. He was there scared and shaking all over hiding up under the braches of a big blown down tree. Maybe it wasn't coyotes, I don't know but something sure scared him simple. It sure was strange...never heard a bark or whimper out of anything the entire time this went down. Any ideas????

Martin

I would think coyote's unless you have something else over there. Good thing you caught the little female. I hear ever now and then that those coyote's can ruin a young dog in not making them want to hunt. I think the yotes are starting to breed so they might have been after the male. It rained here most of the night was cloudy all day here and then started to rain again this evening.

would be my guess ole yotes can be sneaky

They are definitely a sneaky animal...the weird thing is that both dogs were right there together when we were only about 150 yards from the truck. She came right to me and hung around, which by and of itself is unusual...she's typically the one I have to call in and wait for. When we got to the truck I loaded her first just because she was right there, all the while expecting to see the male dog with us too. It had started to rain again and it did get pretty foggy. He could have just been disoriented in the fog. After thinking about this it occurred to me that maybe that tree fell on him. It was raining and we were getting cold, I was glad to find him and just get out of there at the time....might go back today and have a look around. Darndest thing I have had happen in a while.

YOTES ARE NOT GOOD. GUYS ACROSS THE LINE IN PA GOT SEVERAL ROAD KILLED DEER AND COVERD THEM WITH ANTI FREEZE DEAD YOTES ALL OVER FOR A BIT. ONLY PROBLEM IS EVERYTHING WOULD EAT ON IT INCLUDING YOUR HOUNDS. I DID NOT HUNT THAT AREA FOR A GOOD WHILE. SHOOT EM OR HAVE TRAPPERS GET THEM. JUST DO NOT HUNT AREA WHILE TRAPPING. ONE FARM I HUNT, THE FARMER ASKED ME NOT TO HUNT FOR TWO WEEKS DUE TO YOTE TRAPPING. THEY HAD TWO WEEKS THEN THEY WERE OUT.

Ya I agree

yotes are bad especially when you are training a young dog. I think these things are going to get worse before it gets better because of the cross bred yote that's out there now. I read an article on how They crossed a male wolf with a female yote making a bigger version of the coyote and they say its taking over the east coast. If we don't start killing these thing the wildlife is going to be in trouble. I have a great picture of a coyote stuck in a tree which I will post sometime today.
