Inbox/pups

Sorry about my inbox. I got it emptied out now. I should be able to get PM's this morning.

The pups are doing well this morning. She may have had one or two more during the night. I did not count them but they looked like a pile of snakes when I checked on them this morning. We have had a nice couple of days with cooler weather but I think the heat is moving back in after today. I should have contacted everyone on the list through a PM if they went through or a text. We will wait a couple of days to make sure things are going well before I ask for a deposit. I hate to do that but I have been stuck before and then someone who wants a certain sex or pup gets pushed back because someone left me hanging. These pups will be ready to go by the third week in September if all goes well. I will not send them to Autumn Oaks ahead of time but may be able to bring them down to the Fall Roundup in Tennessee the first week of October. I am going to ask for $100 deposit and $200 when picked up for a total of $300 per pup. They will be performance eligible. If you want to get on the list PM me. I will give preference in the order deposits are received.

I remember the first time I heard Tramp get treed as a one year old when Mr. Jack had him and I was thinking "now that's what a Bluetick should sound like". After having him and Creek together it only made sense to make this cross. I may have made it anyway but it sure made it easy with him up here.

Scott, sounds like the pups are coming along great. Glad you got all of them into good hands. This should be a great cross. The only reason that I didn't get one of them is I have Gin, Smoke and Sheba here and that's really more than I can hunt, but I'll sure be interested in this cross or any cross on Tramp. RIP

Almost a year ago Mr. Jack allowed me to bring Tramp II to Wisconsin. In my mind Tramp will always be Mr. Jack's dog.
I tried to get him to some bigger hunts and breed him to a few nice females. My friend Rodney Bastian needed to be the Master of Hounds at an RQE in the southern part of the state and asked if I wanted to go along as it is a long ride home. I loaded up the best dog at the place and away we went. About half way into the hunt we had made one tree and Tramp had plus points (no minus, he was good at staying out of trouble) he seemed like he was a little off. I had Tramp long enough to know something was wrong. The cast could not believe it but I pulled him and put him in the box. He was barking in the box and that was not normal for him. When we got back to the club I pulled him out of the box and walked him around and his abdomen seemed a little large. We left and got home about 5 am. I called the vet and was not able to get in until 11. Tramp drank a little water and went and laid down in his house. When I went to get him to load him up he did not come out of the house. I opened the top and seen the worst. My friend had passed. The vet figured it was a twisted stomach I then had to make the call to Mr. Jack to tell him his dog was gone.
I was blessed to have had Tramp here and I feel as though I left some people down mainly Mr. Jack that somehow I should have or could have done more.
I was also fortunate to have heard him Tree one last time and I was as impressed (so was the rest of the cast) as when I heard him tree the first time. I will never forget either time. I am not sure I can even believe he is gone yet. Rodney called me tonight to let me know he had been thinking about it all day. Not sure what we could have done and I realize that we never know what can happen and when. I have a litter here off of Tramp II and Creek and the pups are going to some good people. Yes I am keeping a male.

RIP My friend

It was a sad Sunday morning. I was on my way to church when my cell phone rung. I knew right off that something was bad wrong as I could hear the quiver in Scott's voice. I almost had to stop the truck as he told me the story. Tramp 11 had just passed that morning, at one point I almost had to leave church. Tramp and I had had a lot of fun togeather, we had roamed these Pearl River Swamps for close to three years. We had won several hunts on his way to becoming Grand Nite. Tramp was a coondog and everyone that knew him or hunted with him liked him, for he made coon treeing look easy and he was always a Gentleman. I never once saw him bristle his hair or growl at another dog. At one point even though I loved the dog, I knew that I had taken him about as far as I could, as age was beginning to crepe up on me, even though I hated to admit it, and I had almost quit competition hunting. I needed to find someone that could keep Tramp going. Jeremy and I talked about it and If he was willing, although we both knew that he already had a pen full of top hounds. Scott VH was the man for Tramp. I told Jeremy to call Scott and see if he might be interested. He was and he called me. We talked it over and Tramp was on his way to Wisconsin. Seeing Tramp go to Scott wasn't like loosing a dog. It was more like seeing one friend go hunt with another friend. Scott I know that you loved Tramp, as I could tell by the way you talked about him when we would talk and I know that you did every thing you could for him, If I had another one like him and you were willing he would be on his way to Wisconsin. TRAMP 11

I just saw this while eating breakfast and I am Heart Broke for Scott and Mr. Jack. Can't believe he's gone so soon. I loved Tramp and enjoyed the times me and Mr. Jack hunted him and Bo together. We always had fun and treed Coon. I will never forget the night in Black Branch Swamp late in the Winter during the Coon Rutting season that Bo and Tramp got after a Long Legged Swamp Runner. Those Swamps Roared with the Sound Of those 2 Hounds for almost 45 minutes. He made the mistake of trying to cross a big field to get out of the Swamps and into a Big Cutover and we were almost 400 yards away but clearly heard it when they caught him on the Ground. That is a night I will remember 4 ever and Tramp 11 I will never forget. Rest In Peace Tramp, God has a TOP HOUND NOW.

RIP Tramp II

When I heard the news, I was on my way home from taking my daughter to the farmer’s market. I had only slept an hour the night before due to a long night of hunting young dogs…and I wasn’t sure if I was dreaming or not. It really was the last news I expected to hear. I had to read the text twice because I couldn’t believe it. Owning and hunting top hounds will tear your heart out at times. Losing a good one unexpectedly is hard to accept. Sometimes the Grand Plan isn’t clear.

Scott, take care buddy! He lives on in his pups.

Sorry to hear Mr.Jack, and Scott! The greats never last long enough.
