Time to get back in the woods

I took a few days break after Fall Round Up. Now that Maggie is a Dual Grand and Magic is a Grand Nite all I have to hunt is Dragon. He seems to have the it factor thus far. He is a very competitive hound with a good personality. He and I will spend plenty night during coon season alone next month. He won't be 2 till April about the time the Grand National Reunion will be here in Sedalia Mo.
I may try to raise a litter off Maggie and she is due to come in anytime now.

Dual Grand Maggie x Dragon has crossed my mind plenty. Jeff it could still happen. Also have thought about Lumber, Speed and Rattler as possibilities. Who knows maybe wait. Time will tell.

I've not hunted

Man I have been lazy. Dragon is ready and wants to go hunting and I have made up excuses not to go. I hope I get in gear. Today is my birthday so I don't see hunting in my future tonight unless I'm hunting in the bars . Fall is here and plenty of good weather for us. MU Tigers is sucking it up this year in football and I hate to see what the basketball team will be like after last year. We are a month and three days before out season starts. I have a new light coming since I ruined the other by falling in the creek at the fall round up. I just have one dog to take to the hunts and that is Dragon everything else is finished to Grand Nite.

Took Tree Dragon out for a solo

I cut him loose he got in and struck a good track and drove it. He got hooked at 475 yards. I got there he had two coons up one tree. I looked around and saw two singles sitting close to the tree he had his two in.
Next drop I cut him loose and the shot down the lane and at 250 yard just fell treed. He had a big one in a willow tree. I just petted him up and headed to the truck. I saw coons crossing everywhere last night. I did see a mother and 5 kittens crossing the road. When it was all said and done I saw 13 coons so looks like there will be plenty for season.

I doubt I go tonight. I do love my new Laser Torch Pro with Color + the light is brighter and has a walk light and a wider beam and halo plus the tight spot. This was my birthday present to me from me. Ha.

I may try to get Magic a rep or two this week. I think he is tired of watching everything go hunting but him.

Dragon and I went to a hunt but didn't do any good. There is another this weekend I may try my luck at.

Went for a hunt last night with Josh Hoffman. He was hunting a young female walker and I had Dragon. I wanted him to be lead dog and see how he acted with one that may not go with him. He hunted decent but came in with her so he got in trouble. He then went 600 yards and treed no track. He just bawled on the tree. We were going to him and he left because he wasn't sure. He went another 400 yards the worked his way back to where he was and treed. I got there and it was slick. He was just winding. He got in trouble there and I told him no and go look for him. 5 minutes later he treed no to far from where he was and he had the coon. I loved on him and the squalled the coon out with the walker female to run but it just ran up the next tree too it. I held Dragon back after that tree and squalled again the he came out. I didn't let Dragon see any of that but the female didn't run it. We went back to the truck only to find a flat tire so we changed it and called it a early night. Looks like today I need to buy at least two new tires.

Well I drove to Indiana to see my friend Steve Stader laid to rest. What a great family and plenty hunters. Tim Whitiker was there as well. RIP Steve Stader.

Kevin that noise on my car was the wheel bearing went out. They are fixing it as we speak. I also think they will replace my tire that had the knot on it as well.

I was good seeing you again and I hope the family will get through this lost in time and keep the hounds in the woods. Cody seems like he wants to do this for Steve now. I sure hope so

Dragon and I went to a UKC hunt Saturday night. We managed to win First Place. I'm glad I got that first out of the way. The rest is just win your cast. I'm tired to bedtime.

Congratulations on the first with Dragon. Sometimes it seems they come easy and sometime not so much. Good luck with him going forward. Our hunts in Wisconsin are over for the year so I am just pleasure hunting now. The moon was so bright last night you did not need a light but Creek managed to catch one on the ground.

I will see what Dragon looks like after his first real coon season this year.
I like him and his personality is great. He just seem like a happy kid all the time and wants to just please me. I will try to fine tune him and maybe I will have a winner. He sure can fill the scorecard up that is for sure and that is what I have been looking for.

Thanks Charlie. I'd love to hit Roanoke Friday but I'm going to the haunted house of hoops at MIZZOU. Sounds like you got some litters coming soon.
I was thinking about trying to finish Dragon to Nite champion this year but not enough hunts left to maybe get that done. Oh well he is still a yearling male so time will tell. All the hunts look like a man will have to go out of state to hit a few.

14 days before season starts. I'm just thinking of getting to the woods but haven't been for a minute. Magic, Maggie and Dragon wants to go bad. First night of season I will hunt all three together like I always do. I hope I can find a hunting buddy to handle on after midnight the 14th.

Hank and I got a couple bushed tonight. I hunted dragons and Hank hunted sugar and sneak. The dogs showed that they can get a raccoon tree quick. We had a good hunt
