Thank you to everyone of you who posted messages on here. Some private messages remain so and are not shared. An open dialogue gives us an opportunity to have a healthy discussion on breeding and our hounds. In a perfect world we would have time to visit and hunt with all the dogs out there and base our opinions and breeding plans on those first hand experiences. Sometimes a little success can be our worst enemy by locking a person into thinking that one way is the only way.

Good luck to all of you with your hunting and breeding plans. Hopefully you reached your goals or made progress towards them in 2016. Are you having fun? After all that is what it should truly be about.

Looking forward to see what 2017 has in store for us and oh so thankful for the opportunity to participate in this sport with these Bluetick Hounds.

DOC HOUSEHOLDER AND OLD HUSSLER

I want to post this picture of my late Friend and his great Blue Dog: Gr.Nt.Ch."PR' Doc's Blue Hussler. Hussler was By Deans Hammer II and Mountain Music Dolly. I hunted with Hussler Many times and he was a great hound. I wrote the article about old Hussler 1984 BBCHA Blue Book. Hussler was whelped Sept. 12,1969. I Loved Old Hussler. Dave Woofter

Thanks Dave. I think there is a picture on here with Doc and several of us at a hunt. Appreciate the respect that is shown to the men who influenced you and others in our sport. Our breed associations have played a vital role along the way as well. Their roles may be changing as we go along but none the less are still vital today as they were in the beginnings of the recognition of Blueticks as a registered breed.

Thanks for the posts and comments from all of you.

Bluebook

Received my new BBOA Bluebook in the mail yesterday. Another fine job on this year's addition. Wesley Martin says the 2017 edition of BBCHA"s Bluebook is at the printers and will, as usual, be a good one too.

I have about everyone of both associations books since they started putting out a mailing list in 1961. These books were instrumental when I took on the task of establishing the record of our past Kings and Queens as well as the officers who had served.

Most of you do not realize that the first association formed in 1946 did not survive. I am pleased with the leadership of both associations right now and the job they are doing to represent you the members and our hounds. These associations are a lot like our country and have been able to grow or merely survive under different administrations. Future looks good right now. Thank you to those serving us!

Joe both of you are looking good Sir. Hope more people will choose to breed those good females to him while they can. Time stands still for no one and that goes for our hounds too.

Enjoyed visiting with as many as possible at the Winter Classic in Batesville, Ms. Met some new ones and wish there was more time to visit. I encourage everyone to take pictures. One of these days you will wish you had.

Making plans to get to as many hunts as possible this year-the bigger Blue Hunts for sure. Lots of these planned for different areas of the country- Missouri and Michigan-should draw crowds from a lot of surrounding states. Hope to see you there as well

One of my hounds got snake bit Friday night, so pay attention out there. It was still relatively cool out and we were not even thinking about the threat of snakes yet. The dog is doing well now and I should be hunting him again real soon.

Turkey season comes in tomorrow morning. I am more concerned about most of them than I am the snakes. Once it is over I will go back to hunting early in the morning. My prediction is for a long, hot, dry Summer.

I have a bunch of young prospects that I am working and they have all ran and treed. Find out who they remind me of in their pedigrees!

I have not posted on this site in quite some time. A few of you had asked me about this and perhaps some of you never saw it. Ken Herman does such a good job on Face Book and so does the site about Let's Talk Old Blueticks.

If you have questions or would like to contribute material please do so. Hope you enjoy it. CW

Winter Classic

So nice to visit with Bluetick people from all over. Attended BBCHA's Board meeting and some very interesting ideas were brought up. Impressed with the commitment of the officers, board members and the efforts being generated on our behalf by them.

Hats off to everyone who hunted and those Blue dogs that did it again this year. I said they moved it from Georgia to keep us from winning it so much and low and behold look what happens.

Lot of great hunts planned for this year and golden opportunities to hunt with good Blue dogs and good Blue Dog people. Hope to see you at one of these events this year.

At the BBCHA Spring Meeting in Batesville it was reported that the Grand Reunion would be held April 19 - 21. Those dates have been changed to April 12 - 14.

In memory of David Daniel Dean

Nov. 23, 1934 to March 4, 2018 (83)
It has been a week since Mr Dean's Funeral , and what a beautiful service it was ! I am so glad that I attended to pay my respects.
Dave was definately one of a kind and tops in my book. I thought I would add to this Bluetick Stud Dog and Kennel promotion thread in his honor. The passing of Dave is truly an end of an era. I feel there will always be hounds with Hammer breeding but , there will never be another Hammer at stud , 27 the end.
I can remember traveling from Canada to the cabin back in the late 80's several times , seeking knowledge and the experience of spending time with a legend and his top prize winning line of Northern Blue Hammers. My first coondog was Hammer 5 bred. Sharing time with Dave and his hounds at the cabin was quite simply amazing , precious memories that I will always cherish ! I can remember hunting with Dave and Hammer 8 and him shooting one out with his trusty old Winchester which was buried with Dave at the funeral ( nice touch Kenny ) I can also remember hunting with Hammer 10 as a firecracker yearling , several classy females , Curly , Spanky , and Hammer 18 to name a few.
I personally have no coondogs at this time but do have several straws on ice from Solid Northern Big Chief which carries a lot of old Hammer blood that I hope to some day get back into the sport with , good Lord willing and the crick don't rise too much !
Rest in peace Dave , we're going to miss you but never forget you , Amen from a friend !
