Hunt

Ole Smoke can sure make it look easy! I believe that by the time ADA gets here he will be tough. Hope you get to go. Robin sure gets gone and gets treed and Lacey is definately going to make it, not at all afraid of a coon.........Tim

Opening night of Ks.

kill season started out with a bang. Hunted Robin and Lou with Bret Brownbacks two black dogs. All the dogs looked good and sure enough can get on the wood. Treed several den trees but still managed to tree three on the out side. Lou looked solid for a dog that hasn't been hunted in a couple of years. She got by herself and had the meat.

We are hunting almost every night. When ever you want to come down will be fine. However I will be gone 11/24 thanksgiving day and night. Any other time will be ok.

Sounds great. I sent you a PM.

We hunted again last night and had alittle better luck. Hunted Smoke and Lou on seperate dumps and they both looked good.

Robin is laid up for a few weeks. She came in heat night before last. Its the way of females when its the most important time to hunt, either a big UKC hunt or the beginng of kill season. Happens every time.

Flo was due in heat the first of Nov. Checked her opening night and she was just starting to come in heat. She'll get lots of hunting alone after Dec 6th. After selling Ruby to mleck that just left the ol man to tree coon with. Would sure like to find a first class young dog that's for sale out of Rebel. Those type don't seem to be for sale. I have a couple pups that have been hauled a few times but I like to spend time with those all ready getting the job done.

I know just what you are going through. Allthough it is fun and relaxing to hunt the old dogs.
I should have known Robin was getting ready to come in season the way she hunted the last few times out. She acts like an idiot for about week before she comes in.
We are tied up right now through Thanks Giving but maybe the first of Dec. we can get together for a hunt.

Hunt

Just got in from humting with Brownie. We treed 3 singles and one litter. All dogs looked good. Smoke and brownies black pup cash were split about 50 yards apart and both had the meat. Altogether we saw 11 coon which is a lot around here by 10:30. Its been raining on and off since 8 glad to be gettin some more moisture.

Went over on the missouri side tonight to some new territory. Hunted Smoke and Lou, treed 4 singles and 3 dens. Dogs looked pretty good. Smoke was really crankin em out getting the job done.

Bunkhouse hunt

Ksu coon, puppies r doing great growing like crazy. We went over to the bunk house last night and hunted with richard and his chief female. The coon weren't moving to good but we managed to tree 2 singles. Dogs had to go a little ways to get em. Couldn't make it back up there tonight got to take my nephews huntin had the thanksgiving diner today.
Richard, thanks for coming down to watch smoke go. Bells a nice tree dog. They should make a nice cross.
Paul, thanks for guiding us and all the hospitality at the bunk house.

glad to here you all had a good time, tough hunting conditions are not always the most enjoyable way to hunt but I think it does the dogs good to have to dig them out every now and then, good luck with your season. Gerald

has been hunting every night, I have just been going about every OTHER night. Any way the dogs are looking good and treeing some easy ones and some hard ones.
Lou is looking real solid now and starting to get in shape. She is super straight and tells on a dog every now and then.haha
Pearl is doing good and although she hasn't been hunted much has a bunch of fire and desire.
Lacey has been turned loose on the farm for some running education, she has the treeing part down pretty good but being raised in a pen just needs some run time on her.
Ole Smoke is as solid as they come and still puts it on the girls when we take him.
Going to meet up with Tim and Mark tonight over on the Missouri side.

Big Ones

Brownie holding 2 Big Boars we treed last night. These big guys didn't go up the first tree they came too. Lou got off by herself and took one over a half and locked him down. He was 20-25 lbs. Pearl and Brownies b&t pup Cash got the big one. They ran him a good half or better and both treed hard. He probably was 25-30 lbs. Pretty good night had some really good dog work on some longer tracks. These 2 females will be bred to Smoke they're next heat cycle. Lou is a NTCH with 1 win and I will put her back in the hunts next weekend and Pearl will go to the hunts after the first of the year.
