Can you track T15's with 320 and Alpha handheld at the same time ?

Posted by on 10-24-2014 01:12 PM:

.

No Sir you cannot. When you put them on Astro they are removed from ALPHA and vice versa.

I was still having birdseye problems with my 320 after installing the update version 3.9. Checked for updates again last night and there was the new 4.0 version available and the details said it would fix birdseye booting problems. Installed that 4.0 version and I am back to normal.

Garmin Alpha 100 v. 4.20 Shutting Down

I received my first Garmin Alpha 100 and updated it to version 4.2 last week. It shut down numerous times. The maps failed while deep in unfamiliar timber. No topo, no birdseye. Garmin swapped it out for a new unit.

I received the replacement yesterday, and carefully followed the instructions for updating it to 4.2. The maps displayed all night. The unit shut down more than a dozen times. The direction indicators on the maps frequently pointed in a very, very wrong direction. If I had not been able to hear my hound, I'd still be looking for her if I had to rely on the Garmin Alpha 100 with TT 15.

I had calibrated the compass, the touch screen, and had a fully charged battery. Everything was new right out of the box.

Night Walker go do the 4.3 update they just came out with. They think they have it solved.

lost

does any one no how to find a lost 320 . mine fell out of my pouch last night while in a laurel thicket . way back in the mountains . can you use the collar to track youre self back , using another handheld .

Posted by on 10-27-2014 01:30 PM:

.

Mr. Blues you have to update your handheld. That will solve your problem.

Mr. Smith the answer to your question is no handheld can be hooked to the 220 or 320 only on the ALPHA.

Shanes sorry but your out of luck. There are a couple of things but they are kind of complicated. If you had a dog on the leas with it's collar turned on you can try downloading its track on BASECAMP and then putting that track on a card. Load it into a handheld and try and retrace the track. You can also just print it out and try to follow it that way.

If you didn't have dog on leash or buddies gps with you when you lost it there is noting you can do.

Bark Detection Latest TT15 Update with 320

I seem to have lost the bark detection feature after updating firmware to latest on TT15 and updating to latest version on 320. Anyone else experience this?

Posted by on 10-27-2014 02:04 PM:

.

Mr. Smith that cannot be done.

Mr. Bearhunter don't think you lost anything. The TT 15 doesn't have bark detection.

Posted by vabearhunter540 on 10-27-2014 02:16 PM:

Bruce,

The TT15 has bark detection, it is the T5 that doesn't. I've had it enabled and working great up until the last update. I updated both the collar and 320 at the same time so not sure which one caused the problem.

TT15 manual that states how to enable bark detection:

Mr. Bearhunter you are right. I read it as T5 .

I just went to mine and turned it on and then went to dog alerts and turned in on and it worked fine and I have all the new updates. Sorry about the confusion.

Posted by vabearhunter540 on 10-27-2014 03:37 PM:

Bruce,

Thanks for the quick response. I'll do a little more testing. It definitely could be user error.

Are you certain you have updated the TT15 firmware to the latest 2.3 version released August 25?

Mr. bear hunter I just had them update the TT 15 and they are testing it now. I will let you know as soon as they walk back in the Store.

It is still on there. It is tricky turning on as you have two areas you have to go to.

Great! Thank you for checking on this.

I'll try to find the 2 different places needed to turn it on.

Select
SETUP
DOGS
BARK DETECTION turn on

Just above BARK DETECTION on the menu list is
DOG ALERTS
Select BARK DETECTION and the alert you want.

Download a program called Basecamp. It is free at Garmins website. Then download the track out of the DC 40 on to the base camp program. You should then be able to print it out and see where you went. I am not 100% sure but you should be able to upload it to an astro or on a map card and follow the trail.

garmin

do you download base camp on computer or astro if to computer how do you get collar to communicate with lap top

Posted by on 10-28-2014 01:42 PM:

.

Base camp goes on the computer. I haven't done it in about a year but you hook the collar to a handheld and download the info to base camp.

Last year a deer hunter with hounds had his dog get on some private property and was shot by a still hunter. The still hunter tried to say the man dumped his dogs on the private property and several other things as to how long they were on the property

He brought me the collar and I extracted the tracks from it and we installed them on his lap top. He used that information with law enforcement to show what really happened.

The dogs were cut loose in a totally different area and the deer cut across the corner of this property and the dog followed it and was shot. You could tell where it was shot and then how the still hunters moved the dog.

I would think you should be able to do the same thing by extracting the info out of your collar. It can be done, I am just a little rusty on the details.
