Well Maggie's getting huge and is due May 11, 2015. I'm blessed by the response to a litter I haven't even advertised yet! I have 8 pups booked pending the birth of a healthy litter. Trueboy is already acting like a proud papa. I want to thank Ken Hitchcock for steping up and helping me out. I'm due to have extensive reconstructive surgery on my right ankle May 18, 2015, so Ken has agreed to take Maggie and raise the litter for me until they're ready to come home. I'm sure Ken and Sandy will do well and take good care of Maggie for me. Again, Thanks Ken and Sandy for you help!

Jim, I also hope everythings goes well in your ankle operation.

Pups born today at the Hitchcock homestead. Thanks to Sandy and Ken for helping me out. They're a Godsend at this time. Maggie reportedly had 8 pups today out of Trueboy. No count on the break down of males to females. I have 5 males and 3 females spoke for, but the odds of that working out are not good.

Home from the hospital today. Successful surgery on my right ankle. This new fusion should work better and make my life easier as I age. It'll sure help my knee and hip out for sure. Pups are doing well, but we lost a female last week. All five males and the 2 remaining female pups are spoken for. Ken and Sandy are a Godsend and doing a good job with Maggie and the pups.

I have a fellow in NC who wants 2 male pups, but he hasn't responded to my e-mails for over a week. I think one male can be sold without a problem. I have one male for sale for $300.00 out of Trueboy x Maggie. See post above this for information, videos on both hounds, and pedigrees.

The last 3 male pups out of Trueboy X Maggie left the past 2 days. Terry from Great Lakes Pet Transportation is hauling to off them off to new homes in Mexico and Oklahoma. I'd like to thank Hector Pier and Colton Lowe for buying pups from me. Hector hunts lions, jaguar, and coon in east central and southern Mexico. Hector has bought hounds in the past, including his current 4 y/o female, from Guy Ormiston. Colton Lowe's uncle has a 4 y/o female that is from my place, a littermate to Trueboy out of KDS Just Ben X Crow. So they hope to catch lightning in the bottle once more with this pup off Belle's brother Trueboy.
The last pup was bought by Kendra Oulds, daughter of my old friend from Canada Scott Oulds. I put a picture of the pup, now named Dash, on my Lake Huron Bluetick Facebook page and when Kendra's mother Rhonda seen it, well let's say the sale was completed rather quickly. Also the wife and I were treated to dinner by Scott, Rhonda, and Kendra when they come over the bridge to pick Dash up, so that made the deal even sweeter.
I continue to recover, very slowly, from my ankle surgery. I'm dying to get Trueboy, Crow, and Maggie back into the woods soon. I was due back to work this Monday July 13, but due to increased pain and swelling in my ankle this past week my return date is pushed back to July 20. I'm hopeful that I will get up this next week to see Ken Hitchcock and his group run a bear before I head back to work.
I have a couple of orders on the books for pups and so I might breed Maggie on her next heat to either Trueboy again, or possibly to one of Ken Hitchcock's young males if they prove to be good ones this bear season. Then again Pat Quaintance has that good young Earl dog off Slewfoot X Crow up in Bayfield Wisconsin that might be worth the trip up there to breed Maggie with, so I have options. I will be booking pups off Maggie so give me a call or contact me with a PM or e-mail.

Chris Huff's Annie female dropped 8 pups today. Her pedigree is posted above. We bred Annie to Trueboy and this is the result. Could not have expected more. Good blood with a lot of SR Diamond Jim genes running in this cross. I'll post updates.

I'm starting my 25th year of coon hunting this fall. Made it out for the first time Sunday night. My ankle finally is healed enough to hit the woods. Made 2 drops, but only on the second did I find the meat with Crow.

Went out with Crow and Maggie last Thursday. Made 3 drops. Here's the rundown:
First drop. Crow and Maggie struck 165 yards in the corn from the truck. They went about 100 yards and seemed to get bayed up. I waited a few minutes, then drove up next to them. Crow had started to trail off, but Maggie stayed bayed for a few before harking into Crow. They treed, but Maggie didn't settle well on it at first. There was coon scat all around the base of the tree, so I believe it is an old dead ash den tree. Hard to shine with all the under brush. I saw a litter of 4 coons up a dead ash by my truck 75 yards from this tree. I believe they caught a kit on the ground and killed it before Crow trailed onto this den.
Second drop. Crow and Maggie struck and ran hot track into the edge of the woods by the stone henge. Treed a lot of in that area over the past 25 years. The had the meat. Crow beat Maggie to the tree, but with time, I think Maggie has the speed on track to get those first trees from Crow.
Last drop. I saw the coon run up the tree as I was droping the tailgate. All hell broke loose 20 yards into the corn. Maggie and Crow were screaming. The went out about 75 yards, spun around and drove it to the tree hard, 3 minutes from truck to tree.

Got out tonight with Trueboy and Maggie. Forgot the camera, but my repaired light worked very well.
First drop: Maggie struck what I assume was a squirrel track because Trueboy went on and hit another track up on the creek bank. Maggie harked in and they took the track across an old ford and treed over 500 yards from the truck. I was able to work my way up to within 120 yards driving up the lane. I couldn't find the coon, and I go with a blank. There was an oak den tree 30 yards away. I haven't been in this piece of timber in nearly 15 years.
Second drop was in an old faithful spot. Trueboy went in and started a cold track. He heated it up fast and hot. Maggie harked into him and they drove it hard to the ditch on the south edge of the timber and treed up a nice medium sized oak. Didn't see a coon, but found 2 holes in the ditch bank on each side of the tree. As hard as they were driving it I cannot believe they missed it. I think it holed on them.
Third drop was a flip of the coin. I turned in the woods instead of the corn. Trueboy and Maggie hit a old fed track that I thought would carry them into the corn, but just when they started to the corn, they turned and went back into the woods. It was a cold track and Maggie and Trueboy worked it well to the tree. Trueboy located twice before both he and Maggie locked up. I found the coon hiding in the grape vines and put it down on top of Maggie. Maggie really looks good standing on the wood when treeing. She doesn't move around as much as Trueboy or Crow, which makes her look all that more pretty standing there knocking them chop barks off. Made me with I had my camera tonight for sure!
Not a good hunt overall, but with the moon so bright, it ended up well!

Colton Lowe of Oklahoma and his male pup out of Trueboy x Maggie. Already going hard and hackled up on the one live coon he's seen. Born Mother's Day 2015 and whelped and raised up at Ken Hitchcock and Sandra Crandell's place.

Ted Lily sent me this picture of his male with a bobcat they caught last winter. This male is a littermate to Trueboy and is also reported to be a good coonhound, as well as a solid cat dog. Four years old.

Been hunting a bit the past few weeks. Hounds have looked good, and at times, looked like crap. Maggie is in heat and will be bred Sunday back to Trueboy. I have 2 pups spoken for. Let me know if you're interested. If she catches, she'll whelp after the first of the year. Pups will be ready to the end of February 2016.

I have pictures and videos from recent hunts to post here in the near future. Trueboy is looking good again... finally! Crow has been doing well too, after some problems last week with being able to tree a coon. Maggie has been bred to Trueboy. Stay tuned for more news!

Happy Holidays
Hey Jim, just thought I'd check in with you. I like the looks on Maggie, light tan trim and ticking gives her that old school look I like. Reminds of Stella. Might be looking for a pup in about a year I'll let you know.
