My Sky Rocket pup has decided she wants to become a coondog! She has a long way to go but it seems the light has come on! She turned 11 mos. old this week.
This week she has begun opening on track, treeing a little, and hates a coon. If she progresses as much as she has in 2 nights this week she should make it.

Anyone else have a young Finley River dog starting to turn the crank this fall?

Hey Brogy, the pictures didn't show up. Could you try to post them again, I would love to see how the pup is growing.

I think he treed a little on a possum once or twice but never fast game. His only fault that I have seen is that a few nights he will tree too fast and show some slick trees but he's a really tough dog otherwise.

this is a pic of Rocky.

Sky Rocket is now running and treeing coon by herself. I had some doubts about her. She didn't show any interest until almost 11 mos. old but once she did I've never seen a pup progress so fast. In 10 nights of hunting from her first sign of "interest" she is now running and treeing her own coon.

I found this thread and read it in it's entirety. I love the finley river line. I have a 9 year old finley river bred female that I will be breeding the next time she comes in just to get a couple of pups for myself. She is the most honest dog I have ever owned. I have already located one stud that I was going to breed to, but in reading this thread I realized there was alot more finley river blood left out there than I realized. I would be interested in seeing the pedigrees on anybody's male dog that has some of the "TRUE" old finley river blood. Below is my bitch's pedigree. P.M me if you think your dog fits the bill.

Mike Mills,

Dave Pollard's Dan dog is supposed to be reproducing. His dogs carry a lot of Daniel's blood. Check with DanDogs on this site.

When I was a young I hunted with a guy who's stock was out of ole Dan. He had bought a couple out of Finley River Dan. The ones directly out of Dan were tight mouth after striking the track. Get struck quick but then didnt give much mouth on track. Great tree dogs, had the meat. All things considered they were nice dogs.

I no where some old Finley River blood is at. The hounds name is Diamond. He is a semen dog that I bred 5 years ago. He has a lemon head mostly white in color and is ticked out. He has long hair with a flag tail. He is one of the smartest hounds I have ever seen. I bred the hound with Mike Poulks female( Flea) out of Ill. and the semen is out of Daves Ohio diamond that won many hunts in Ohio in the 1980s. I got down on hunting a couple years ago and sold out and I regret it ever since. But anyway Diamond is in Wis. and I belive that this would be a great addition to Finley River blood line. I have a couple of pictures of him I photo bucket but I cant find my old password does anyone now how I can retrive these pictures. I sold the dog to Tom Bergaman in Wis. and he sold out like I did and now the hound is with another gentleman in Wis. If anyone is interseted in breeding to this hound PM me. Diamond is mostly Houses Tom Tom, Findely River, Rolling Hills Leroy and Dan and there smarts I think comes from the Deamon blood line.
